To send money from abroad to someone who uses Wise, first check which receiving method is available for their destination and currency in Coinepay Global Remittance. A Wise account is not the same thing as a local mobile wallet, and a Wise payout option should not be assumed to appear in every transfer route. This guide explains how to choose the method shown in the app, obtain the right details from your recipient and track the payment.
Is Wise a mobile-wallet payout option?
Wise offers accounts that can receive money in supported currencies. It also lets people send money to certain mobile wallets, but those are different transactions. For example, Wise describes payouts to GCash and Maya in the Philippines, M-Pesa in Kenya, and DANA and GoPay in Indonesia. Choosing one of those wallets sends money to that wallet; it does not deposit money into the recipient’s Wise account.
There is no single destination country, receiving currency or phone-number format that applies to every Wise account. The recipient should check the receiving details displayed in Wise for the particular currency they want to receive. You should then check the destination, currency and payout methods offered for that transfer in the Coinepay app. If a Wise-specific payout method appears, follow the fields Coinepay displays. If it does not, ask the recipient whether they can receive the transfer through the bank account details Wise provides for that currency, and select bank deposit only if the route and those details are supported.
Do not select a different mobile wallet just because its phone number belongs to the Wise user. Likewise, do not assume that a registered Wise phone number or an account ID can replace bank receiving details. Contact Coinepay support if the available payout methods or required fields are unclear before you confirm.
What details should you get from the recipient?
Ask the recipient to open their Wise account and share the receiving details for the currency you have agreed to send. They should verify those details directly in Wise rather than relying on an old message or a screenshot for a different currency. Depending on the payout method Coinepay offers, you may need:
- The recipient’s full name exactly as registered on the receiving account, using their real identity.
- The destination country and currency associated with the available receiving route.
- For bank deposit, the account and bank details Wise displays for receiving that currency, including any reference or other field the receiving instructions require.
- For a Wise-specific payout option, a registered phone number or account ID only if Coinepay explicitly requests it for that route. Enter it in the format the app specifies.
Check every character with the recipient. A phone number alone is not a universal Wise receiving format, and an account ID is not interchangeable with bank account details. Use your real information as sender and the recipient’s real account details; do not alter a country, name or address to try to make a route available.
How to send the transfer with Coinepay
- Open Global Remittance. Sign in to the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard. If you are new to Coinepay, register and complete any identity verification requested before using the service.
- Choose the destination. Select the recipient’s destination country and the currency available for the intended receiving route. Confirm with the recipient that it matches the details they obtained in Wise.
- Select an available payout method. Choose Wise if the app explicitly lists it for this route. Otherwise, if the recipient supplied eligible Wise receiving bank details and the app offers bank deposit, select bank deposit. Do not choose another mobile wallet as a substitute for a Wise account.
- Enter recipient details. Type the full name exactly as registered and complete each field Coinepay shows for the chosen method. Use a phone number or account ID only when the selected payout method asks for one. For bank deposit, enter the receiving details the recipient checked in Wise.
- Review before confirming. Check the recipient, method, amount and currency. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm. Read the estimated arrival time displayed for this transfer, and correct any details that do not match.
- Confirm and track. Confirm the transfer only after the review is correct. Follow its status in Coinepay’s transfer tracking, and respond through the service if further information is requested.
If you cannot find a suitable method, stop rather than choosing a similar-looking provider. Ask the recipient for another valid receiving method or contact Coinepay support about the route.
How will the recipient see the money arrive?
For a bank deposit using Wise receiving details, the recipient should check the relevant currency balance and activity in their Wise account. They can compare the incoming entry with the amount and reference, where applicable. The amount they see may reflect the currency and receiving instructions used for the transfer, so compare the transaction details rather than relying only on a notification.
If Coinepay explicitly offers a Wise-specific payout method, ask the recipient to check the Wise account associated with the identifier entered during checkout. If the recipient cannot find an incoming payment, first check the transfer status in Coinepay. A submitted transfer is not necessarily a completed transfer. Keep the transfer details handy when contacting support.
Wise’s Transactions section is used to track transfers initiated through Wise. For a transfer you initiated through Coinepay, use Coinepay’s status tracking as your primary source of updates. The recipient may also check Wise for a received payment or any message asking them to take action.
Wallet verification and receiving limits
Receiving capacity depends on the actual payout method and the recipient’s account status. A Wise account, a Wise-issued card added to a phone wallet, and a local mobile-money account are not the same destination. If the recipient instead asks to receive into a local wallet, confirm its provider and select that wallet only when it appears as an available Coinepay payout method.
Local wallet providers may have account verification levels, balance caps or incoming-payment restrictions. An unverified wallet can have different receiving capacity from a verified one, and a wallet that is already full may reject a payment. For instance, provider rules can affect wallets such as GCash or Maya in the Philippines and DANA or GoPay in Indonesia. The recipient should check their provider’s current account status and remaining capacity before you send. Do not apply a local wallet’s limits to a Wise account, or assume that an amount accepted at checkout will necessarily be accepted by the receiving provider.
Troubleshooting a missing or rejected payment
Wrong phone number or account details
Before confirming, compare the complete identifier or bank details with what the recipient currently sees in Wise. If you have already confirmed, check Coinepay’s transfer status and contact support promptly with the transfer details. Do not send a second payment until you know what happened to the first. Whether a payment can be corrected or returned depends on its status and the receiving route.
Name mismatch
Ask the recipient to confirm their full registered name, including its order and spelling. If a submitted transfer is flagged or returned, follow the instructions in the transfer status or from support rather than changing the name to one that does not belong to the recipient.
Wallet limit reached or wallet not verified
This applies when the selected destination is an actual local mobile wallet, not merely because the recipient uses Wise. Ask the recipient to check their wallet’s verification level and available receiving capacity with its provider. If the wallet cannot receive the payment, check the transfer status and seek guidance on a permitted alternative; do not split payments to get around a restriction.
Compliance review or delayed arrival
Cross-border transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may request documents about the purpose of a transfer or the source of funds. Check the status tracker and provide accurate information through the requested channel. Coinepay transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but actual delivery time depends on the payout method and destination country; use the estimate shown in the app for your transfer. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions.
If the transfer is marked complete but the recipient still cannot locate it, ask them to check the correct Wise currency balance and receiving details. Then contact Coinepay support with the tracked transfer information so the route can be investigated.

FAQ
Can I send to a Wise account using only the recipient’s phone number?
Only use a phone number if the Wise-specific payout method shown in Coinepay explicitly requests it. Otherwise, ask the recipient for the receiving details Wise displays for the relevant currency.
Which country and currency should I select for Wise?
There is no universal Wise destination or currency. Confirm the intended receiving currency and details with the recipient, then select a matching route available in Coinepay.
Is sending to GCash or M-Pesa the same as sending to Wise?
No. Those are separate local mobile wallets. Select one only if the recipient intends to receive money in that wallet and Coinepay offers it for the route.
Where can I check whether my transfer arrived?
Track the transfer in Coinepay. The recipient can check the relevant Wise currency balance and activity for an incoming payment.
