goBoB is the digital wallet from Bank of Bhutan Limited, used in Bhutan and funded in Bhutanese ngultrum (Nu.). If you have family, friends or a supplier in Bhutan who uses goBoB, you can send a cross-border transfer to their wallet with Coinepay Global Remittance from the app or dashboard. This guide walks through what you need from the recipient, how to set up the transfer, and what to do if something does not go through.
Before you start
A few things make the transfer smoother:
- You are registered and verified with Coinepay. Cross-border transfers require identity verification (KYC). If you have not finished this, create your account and complete verification first. You can manage everything from the iOS app or the Android app.
- The recipient has an active goBoB wallet. goBoB is downloaded from the App Store or Google Play and registered in the app, or set up at a Bank of Bhutan branch. The wallet must be able to receive the amount you intend to send (see wallet limits below).
- Bhutan is a supported destination. Coinepay sends to every country and region except jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions; Bhutan is not one of those. Every transfer is still subject to sanctions screening and local regulations.
What details you need from the recipient
Ask your recipient to send you the exact details tied to their goBoB account. Because goBoB is a wallet rather than a classic bank account, the identifier is usually the registered mobile number or the wallet account ID, plus the full legal name.
- The registered goBoB mobile number or account ID — the number or ID the wallet is registered under, entered exactly, including the correct country code for Bhutan.
- The recipient's full name exactly as registered with goBoB. Spelling and name order must match their Bank of Bhutan records.
- Any reference the payout method asks for in the Coinepay app.
Bank of Bhutan does not publish the exact beneficiary format or whether wallet-to-wallet transfers from other providers are accepted on its public goBoB page, so confirm with your recipient that the number and name you have are the ones on their goBoB profile before you send. If the Coinepay app shows additional required fields for Bhutan, fill them in exactly as prompted.
Step by step: sending to goBoB with Coinepay
- Open Coinepay and go to Global Remittance in the app or dashboard.
- Choose the destination. Select Bhutan as the destination country and ngultrum as the payout currency.
- Pick the goBoB / mobile wallet payout method. Where mobile wallet payout is offered for Bhutan, select it so the money is delivered to the wallet rather than to a bank account or cash pickup.
- Enter the recipient details. Type the registered goBoB mobile number or account ID and the full name exactly as registered. Double-check every digit of the number.
- Enter the amount you want to send or the amount you want the recipient to receive.
- Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the rate, the fees and the estimated amount your recipient will receive before you confirm — read this screen carefully.
- Confirm the transfer. Authorize it with your Coinepay security method. You may be asked for the purpose of the transfer or source of funds as part of compliance checks.
- Save your tracking reference so you can follow the status in the app.
Tracking the transfer and how the recipient sees it
Every Coinepay transfer has status tracking. Open the transfer in your activity list to see whether it is processing, in review or paid out. Transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and the destination country, so treat the estimated arrival time shown in the app before you confirm as your best guide.
When the payout completes, the funds land in your recipient's goBoB wallet balance. They will typically see the credit in the goBoB app under their balance and transaction history. Ask them to open goBoB and check their recent activity; a login on a new device requires OTP authorization, and the MPIN is used for login while the TPIN authorizes transactions they make from the wallet.
goBoB wallet limits and verification levels
How much a goBoB wallet can hold and move depends on the recipient's verification level. Bank of Bhutan publishes these tiers for the wallet itself (amounts in ngultrum):
| Level | Daily transactions | Daily balance | Monthly aggregate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Minimal KYC (Bhutanese, incl. ages 10 to under 18) | Nu. 2,000 | Nu. 5,000 | Nu. 10,000 |
| Full KYC (verified Bhutanese) | Nu. 30,000 | Nu. 50,000 | Nu. 100,000 |
| Other nationals (verified with Department of Immigration) | Nu. 10,000,000 | Nu. 20,000,000 | Nu. 50,000,000 |
If your recipient is on the minimal-KYC tier, an incoming amount that would push their wallet over the daily balance or transaction limit may not be accepted. Ask them to complete full KYC in goBoB if they expect to receive larger sums. These are goBoB's own wallet limits set by Bank of Bhutan and are separate from anything in Coinepay.
Troubleshooting
Wrong number or account ID
If you entered the wrong goBoB number or ID, do not assume it will bounce back automatically. Stop and contact Coinepay support with your tracking reference as soon as you notice. Always confirm the number with your recipient before sending.
Name mismatch
If the name does not match the recipient's registered goBoB profile, the payout can be delayed or rejected. Ask your recipient for the exact spelling and name order on their Bank of Bhutan records and re-enter it precisely.
Wallet limit reached
If the recipient is at their daily transaction, daily balance or monthly aggregate limit, the wallet may not accept the credit. They can wait until the limit resets or upgrade their KYC tier in goBoB to raise the limits.
Unverified or tourist wallet
A goBoB user who has not completed verification may be able to load the wallet but cannot transact from it. Bank of Bhutan directs such users to Settings → Verify KYC; tourists and other nationals must pass Department of Immigration verification. Guidance on whether a local or Bhutanese mobile number is required differs between Bank of Bhutan's pages, so ask your recipient to confirm their registration details directly with the bank.
Compliance review
Coinepay screens transfers against sanctions lists and may hold one for review or request documents such as the purpose or source of funds. Respond promptly with accurate information. Never split a transfer, route it through another person or try to work around checks — doing so can delay or stop the payout.

FAQ
What details do I need to send money to a goBoB wallet?
You need the recipient's registered goBoB mobile number or account ID with the correct Bhutan country code, and their full name exactly as registered with Bank of Bhutan. Confirm both with the recipient before sending.
How fast does money reach a goBoB wallet with Coinepay?
Transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and destination country. Coinepay shows an estimated arrival time before you confirm.
Why might my transfer to goBoB be delayed or rejected?
Common reasons are a wrong number or account ID, a name that does not match the goBoB profile, the recipient hitting their wallet limit, an unverified wallet, or a compliance review. Contact Coinepay support with your tracking reference.
Does the recipient need to verify their goBoB account?
Yes, to transact from the wallet. Unverified users, including tourists and other nationals, must complete verification via Settings → Verify KYC in goBoB; verification tier also sets how much the wallet can hold and move.
Will I see the fees and exchange rate before I send?
Yes. Coinepay shows the exchange rate, fees and the estimated amount the recipient receives before you confirm. Review that screen carefully before authorizing the transfer.
