To send money from abroad to a LinkAja account in Indonesia, you need the recipient’s registered mobile number and their full name exactly as registered with LinkAja. In Coinepay Global Remittance, check whether LinkAja is offered for your transfer, review the payout details, exchange rate and fees, and confirm only when everything matches. This guide explains the process and what to do if the wallet cannot receive the payment.

What to know before you start

LinkAja is an Indonesian electronic-money wallet operated by PT Fintek Karya Nusantara. Its accounts are associated with registered Indonesian mobile numbers, rather than bank-account numbers, and the wallet uses Indonesian rupiah (IDR). A recipient should have an active LinkAja account registered to the number they give you.

Mobile-wallet payout availability depends on the transfer provider and the particular transfer route; having a LinkAja account does not, by itself, mean a transfer provider can pay into it. In the Coinepay app or dashboard, select Indonesia and check the mobile-wallet payout options shown for your transfer. Proceed with these instructions only if LinkAja appears as an available payout method. If it does not appear, do not select another wallet and enter a LinkAja number in its place. Check the available payout options or contact Coinepay support.

Coinepay transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may ask for documents or information about the purpose of the payment or the source of funds. Use your real identity and the recipient’s genuine account details; neither person should try to route a payment through someone else’s wallet to get around a check.

Get the recipient’s LinkAja details

Before opening the transfer form, ask the recipient to confirm these details in their LinkAja account:

  • Registered mobile number: Get the Indonesian phone number associated with their LinkAja wallet, including the country code. Do not assume the number they use for messaging is the number registered with LinkAja.
  • Full registered name: Enter their name as it appears on their LinkAja registration. Check the order and spelling of each name rather than using a nickname or an abbreviated version.
  • Account readiness: Ask whether the wallet is active and whether it has room to receive the intended payment under its balance and monthly incoming-transaction rules.

If Coinepay asks for an account identifier instead of a phone number, use only the identifier requested by the transfer form and confirm it with the recipient. Do not substitute a bank-account number for a LinkAja wallet number. Have the reason for sending ready as well, since you may be asked to provide it during the transfer or a compliance review.

  1. Sign in and start a transfer. Open the Coinepay mobile app or 24/7 self-service dashboard. If you are new to Coinepay, register and complete any identity verification required to use the service.
  2. Choose Indonesia as the destination. Enter the amount as prompted and select a mobile-wallet payout method. Choose LinkAja only if it is displayed as available for this transfer.
  3. Enter the recipient’s details. Provide the full name exactly as registered with LinkAja and the registered mobile number with its country code, or the account identifier specifically requested on the form. Complete any other required fields, including the payment purpose if prompted.
  4. Review the transfer. Check the recipient’s name, number or identifier, destination, LinkAja payout method and amount. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm. Read the displayed payout amount and estimated arrival time, and make sure the details are acceptable to both you and the recipient.
  5. Confirm and track it. Confirm the transfer only after checking every field. Save the transfer reference shown in Coinepay and use its status tracking to follow the payment. If Coinepay requests more information, respond through its stated process rather than starting a duplicate transfer.

These are steps for a cross-border payout into a LinkAja wallet. They are not LinkAja’s domestic Kirim Uang → Ke Pengguna LinkAja flow, which a LinkAja user follows in their own app to send money to another LinkAja user.

How the recipient receives the money

When the payout is completed, the recipient should see the incoming payment reflected in their LinkAja balance or transaction history in the LinkAja app. Ask them to check the transaction details and the updated balance, not just a phone notification. The funds are received in the Indonesian wallet in IDR; the amount to expect is the recipient amount shown in your Coinepay review screen.

LinkAja distinguishes between Basic Service and Full Service accounts. Its rules place different stored-balance and monthly incoming-transaction limits on these verification levels. Incoming transfers and top-ups count toward the monthly allowance, so an otherwise active wallet may still be unable to accept a payment. The recipient should check their current account level, balance and applicable allowances in LinkAja before you send; do not rely on an older limit quoted for a different transfer provider.

Basic Service supports top-ups and payments. To send received money onward or withdraw it, the recipient needs Full Service and must complete LinkAja’s identity-verification requirements, which may involve an e-KTP or another permitted identity document and customer-due-diligence checks. Upgrading a wallet is the recipient’s task in LinkAja; it is not a step the sender can complete from Coinepay.

Troubleshoot a LinkAja payout

The phone number is wrong

Before confirmation, go back and correct the number, including its country code. If the transfer has already been submitted, check its Coinepay status and contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer reference. Do not assume a submitted transfer can be changed or stopped. Ask the recipient to confirm the registered number directly in their LinkAja account before you try again.

The recipient’s name does not match

Compare the name entered in Coinepay with the name registered to the LinkAja wallet, including spelling and name order. A nickname or another person’s name can prevent the payout from being processed. If the transfer is pending or has failed, follow the instructions shown in Coinepay or contact support before creating a replacement payment.

The wallet cannot accept more funds

A wallet may reach its permitted stored balance or monthly incoming allowance. Ask the recipient to check both in LinkAja. Wait until their account is eligible to receive the payment, or check which other payout methods Coinepay offers for a new transfer. Do not send repeated smaller payments to get around a wallet or regulatory limit.

The LinkAja wallet is unverified or inactive

Ask the recipient to check their account status and complete any registration or verification steps LinkAja requires. Whether a particular transfer can be received depends on the account’s status and applicable rules. If the payout has already been submitted, use Coinepay’s tracking and support process to find out what happens to that transfer before sending again.

The transfer is under review or appears missing

A compliance review may require information about the sender, recipient, payment purpose or source of funds. Provide accurate documents through the requested channel and watch the transfer status in Coinepay. If Coinepay shows a completed payout but the recipient cannot find it, ask them to check their LinkAja balance and transaction history, then contact LinkAja through its in-app support for an account-side investigation. Give both support teams the relevant transaction details, but never share a password or wallet PIN. Check the status of the original transfer before attempting another one.

FAQ

What number do I need to send money to LinkAja?

Use the Indonesian mobile number registered to the recipient’s LinkAja account, with the country code, and enter their full name exactly as registered. Follow any specific identifier instructions shown in Coinepay.

Can I select a different wallet if LinkAja is not listed?

No. Only choose LinkAja if it appears as an available payout method for your transfer. Otherwise, check the available options or contact Coinepay support.

Can a Basic Service LinkAja account receive the payment?

The recipient should check their account status and applicable receiving limits in LinkAja before you send. Basic Service and Full Service have different balance and monthly incoming allowances.

What should I do if Coinepay shows the transfer as completed but LinkAja does not?

Ask the recipient to check their LinkAja balance and transaction history. Keep the Coinepay transfer reference and contact Coinepay support and LinkAja’s in-app support before sending again.
