TWINT is a mobile payment service used in Switzerland, and TWINT payments are in Swiss francs (CHF). If you want to send money from abroad to someone who uses TWINT, first check whether TWINT appears as a payout option for your transfer in Coinepay. The steps below explain what to prepare, what to review before confirming and what to do if the money does not appear where the recipient expects it.
Check the payout option before you send
TWINT calls a transfer between its own users a P2P payment. That is different from an international transfer initiated in Coinepay. TWINT’s instructions for sending money inside its app do not establish that every cross-border transfer service can pay directly into a TWINT account.
In the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard, select Switzerland as the destination and inspect the available payout methods. Choose TWINT only if it is explicitly offered for your transfer. Do not assume that a general “mobile wallet” option means TWINT, or that choosing bank deposit will deliver money to the recipient’s TWINT app. If TWINT is not listed, do not confirm a transfer expecting it to arrive there. You can review another payout method that the recipient can use, or contact Coinepay support about the options shown in your account.
TWINT is intended for eligible users under the rules of their particular app. The recipient may use TWINT Prepaid or a bank-issued TWINT app; registration, identity checks and receiving rules differ. Ask the recipient to confirm that their app is active and able to receive money before you proceed. TWINT’s terms restrict use of its consumer app to private purposes, so it should not be used to receive payment for commercial sales or services.
Get the recipient’s details
Before starting, ask the recipient for their mobile number registered with TWINT and their full real name exactly as registered. Compare both with what they provide directly to you, rather than relying on an old contact entry. A mistyped number can identify a different person.
If Coinepay offers TWINT as a payout method, follow the recipient fields displayed for that transfer. Enter the registered phone number where the app requests a number. Use an account ID only if the payout form specifically asks for one and the recipient can verify it in their account; do not substitute an unrelated bank account number or invent an ID. Follow the number format shown in the form rather than guessing how to enter an international prefix.
TWINT says its own person-to-person sends rely on identifying the recipient by mobile number and checking their real name; they are not initiated with a QR code. Ask the recipient to check which TWINT app receives their incoming payments if they have more than one installed.
Send to a TWINT payout option in Coinepay
- Sign in and complete any required checks. Open the Coinepay app or dashboard. Be ready to provide accurate identity and transfer information if requested.
- Choose the destination. Start a cross-border transfer and select Switzerland. Enter the amount and inspect the payout methods available for that destination and transfer.
- Select TWINT if it appears. If it is not offered, stop rather than selecting a different method on the assumption that it will reach TWINT.
- Enter the recipient’s details. Provide their registered mobile number or an account ID if the form specifically requests one, plus their full name as registered. Check every digit and the spelling with the recipient.
- Review the quote and recipient. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm. Check the amount the recipient is shown as receiving, the payout method and the recipient information. Review any estimated arrival time displayed in the app.
- Confirm and track. Submit the transfer only when the details are correct. Use Coinepay’s transfer status tracking to follow its progress, and retain the transfer reference in case you need support.
Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may request documents explaining the purpose of a payment or the source of funds. Provide truthful information through the requested channel; do not ask someone else to receive the transfer to avoid a check.
How the recipient checks for the money
Tell the recipient when Coinepay shows the transfer as delivered, and ask them to open their TWINT app and review their balance or transaction history. They should confirm the amount and check whether their app shows any notice requiring action. A status change in Coinepay and an entry in TWINT are separate things to verify; do not treat a submitted transfer as proof that the recipient has received it.
If the recipient uses several TWINT apps, an incoming TWINT payment may appear in their default receiving app, not the one they opened first. TWINT says that, if the user has not chosen a default, the most recently installed app is used. They should check their other TWINT apps before reporting the money missing. If Coinepay shows delivery but the recipient cannot find a corresponding entry, contact Coinepay support with the transfer reference and ask the recipient to contact their TWINT app issuer as appropriate.
TWINT’s rules for transfers initiated inside TWINT should not be assumed to govern a Coinepay payout. For example, TWINT describes an SMS and a temporary pending period when one TWINT user sends to someone who has not registered. Do not rely on that process to complete a Coinepay transfer to an unregistered recipient. Confirm that the recipient has an eligible, active wallet before sending.
Understand recipient verification and wallet limits
TWINT Prepaid requires registration and identity checks. Its receiving restrictions can depend on the user’s residence and age, their incoming transfer activity and the balance already held in the app. A bank-issued TWINT app can apply different sending and receiving limits set by its issuer. Do not apply TWINT Prepaid rules to a bank-issued app.
Ask the recipient to check their own app or its issuer’s guidance if they are unsure whether they can receive the proposed amount. An account that needs further verification, has reached an applicable receiving threshold or cannot hold more funds may be unable to accept a payment. Coinepay may also apply its own transfer checks; inspect the information shown in the app and contact support rather than assuming the wallet is the only cause of a delay.
Troubleshoot a delayed or unsuccessful transfer
Wrong phone number or recipient
If you have not confirmed the transfer, correct the number before submitting it. If you have confirmed it, check Coinepay’s status and contact Coinepay support immediately with the transfer reference. Do not assume a completed payment can be cancelled or recalled. TWINT’s advice for a mistaken transfer between TWINT users is to request the money back and contact the sender’s TWINT app issuer if necessary; that is not a cancellation procedure for a Coinepay transfer.
Name mismatch
Check the recipient’s full registered name with them and compare it with your entry. Avoid nicknames, another person’s name or altered identity details. If the transfer is already pending or rejected, follow Coinepay’s instructions or ask support whether a correction is possible; do not send a second transfer until you understand the first transfer’s status.
Wallet limit reached or wallet not verified
Have the recipient check their TWINT app for a receiving restriction, balance issue or incomplete identity verification. The applicable rules depend on whether they use TWINT Prepaid or a bank-issued app. The recipient should resolve an account issue with their app issuer. If the payout fails, use Coinepay’s status and support guidance to determine what happens to the transfer before trying again.
Compliance review or money not visible
A transfer under review may require additional information about the recipient, purpose or source of funds. Respond accurately to requests in Coinepay. If the transfer shows as delivered, ask the recipient to check their default receiving TWINT app and any other TWINT apps they use. If it remains missing, give Coinepay support the transfer reference and the recipient’s verified details without posting sensitive account information publicly.
