To send money from abroad to an eZ Cash wallet, first confirm that eZ Cash appears as a payout option for Sri Lanka in Coinepay Global Remittance. You will need the recipient’s wallet details and their full name exactly as registered. Review the amount the recipient will receive in Sri Lankan rupees (LKR), the exchange rate and the fees in the app before you confirm.
What to check before you start
eZ Cash is a mobile wallet provided by Dialog Axiata PLC in Sri Lanka. An international payment into the wallet is an inward remittance, not eZ Cash’s domestic “Send Money” transaction between local wallets. The recipient must have an eZ Cash account; sending a mobile recharge to their number does not put money in their wallet. Inward-remittance recipients receive LKR.
Ask the recipient to confirm that their wallet is registered, active and able to receive the intended amount. Dialog’s subscriber terms require an eZ Cash wallet holder to be a Sri Lankan resident, over 18 and the registered owner of the mobile number used for the account. If the recipient has not opened a wallet yet, they should complete registration and any required verification with Dialog before you send.
Check the live payout options in the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app. Choose an eZ Cash wallet payout only if the app offers it for your transfer. If it does not appear, do not select a different payout method and assume it will reach the wallet. Contact Coinepay support if you need help identifying an available option.
Get the right details from the recipient
Before opening a transfer, ask the recipient for:
- The mobile number registered to their eZ Cash wallet, or an account ID if the Coinepay payout form specifically asks for one.
- Their full name exactly as registered on the wallet, including the spelling and order of names used for their account.
- Confirmation that the wallet is active and has enough available capacity to receive the payment.
Enter the phone number in the format requested by the Coinepay form. Dialog publishes a number format for transfers through Sri Lanka’s CEFT bank system, but that instruction is for a bank-to-wallet transfer and should not be assumed to apply to an international mobile-wallet payout. If the app’s requested format is unclear, ask support before confirming rather than changing digits by guesswork.
Verify the number directly with the recipient through a trusted channel, especially if the details arrived in a forwarded message. A wrong number could direct money to the wrong destination. Dialog’s eZ Cash terms warn that transactions entered incorrectly by a subscriber may not be reversible; you should not rely on being able to recover a mistaken wallet payment.
How to send to eZ Cash with Coinepay
- Open Global Remittance. Sign in to the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app. If you are new to Coinepay, register and complete any identity verification requested for the service.
- Choose Sri Lanka as the destination. Enter the amount you want to send, or the amount you want the recipient to receive if that option is offered. Check the displayed payout currency and recipient amount.
- Select the mobile-wallet payout method. Choose eZ Cash if it is listed among the available options. If it is not listed, stop and check the available methods or ask Coinepay support for guidance.
- Enter the recipient’s details. Provide the eZ Cash-registered mobile number or requested account ID and the recipient’s full registered name. Complete any other fields shown in the app using accurate information.
- Review the transfer. Check the destination, payout method, number, name and LKR recipient amount. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm. Check the estimated arrival time shown there too; the actual delivery time depends on the payout method and destination country.
- Confirm and track it. Submit the transfer only when the details are correct. Use its status tracking in Coinepay to follow progress, and keep the transfer reference for any support request.
Transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and destination country. Use the estimate shown for your transfer rather than assuming a particular arrival time.
How the recipient receives the money
For an inward remittance to eZ Cash, Dialog says the recipient is notified by SMS when the funds reach the wallet. Ask the recipient to check the message and confirm the wallet balance through their current eZ Cash access method. Dialog has discontinued the old standalone eZ Cash app, so instructions written for that app may be outdated.
The recipient can keep the received LKR in the wallet for eligible wallet transactions or arrange a cash withdrawal through an eZ Cash point if that suits them. A cash withdrawal is a separate action with its own applicable terms. If the transfer status says it has been delivered but the recipient cannot see the funds, ask them to check the registered number and wallet status, then contact Coinepay support with the transfer reference. They may also need to ask Dialog to investigate the wallet.
Wallet verification levels and receiving capacity
Dialog describes Classic and Power eZ Cash wallets, with different applicable capacities. Its published information about how much a Classic wallet can receive through an inward remittance differs from its general wallet information. Do not treat a published category description as confirmation that a particular wallet can accept your transfer.
Ask the recipient to check their current wallet level, available capacity and any account restrictions with Dialog before you send. If they need a Power wallet, Dialog says they can open or upgrade one at a Dialog Customer Experience Center using a national identity card or driving licence. The recipient should complete that process before relying on a higher wallet capacity.
A newly registered wallet may need a further top-up and registration steps before all transactions are enabled. A wallet left unused for an extended period may also become inactive and require in-person reactivation. If the recipient is unsure whether their wallet is ready, waiting for them to confirm its status is safer than sending to an account that may not be able to use the funds.
Troubleshooting an eZ Cash payout
Wrong mobile number or account ID
If you notice an error before confirming, correct it in the form. If you have already confirmed, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support immediately with the reference and the correct details. Do not send a second transfer until you understand what happened to the first. A correction, cancellation or recovery may not be possible once a payout has progressed.
Recipient name does not match
Compare the name you entered with the recipient’s registered wallet name, not just the name they commonly use. Ask them to confirm the exact registration details and contact support if the transfer is already under review. Do not enter a different person’s name to try to make the payment pass.
Wallet limit reached
The recipient should check their wallet’s available capacity and verification level with Dialog. If the wallet cannot accept the payment, ask Coinepay support what options are available for the existing transfer. Do not split payments to work around wallet limits or other checks.
Unverified, new or inactive wallet
The recipient may need to finish registration, update their identity information or reactivate their wallet with Dialog. Dialog says invalid personal information can require an in-person identity update, while reactivation of an inactive wallet requires a visit to a Dialog Customer Experience Center with an accepted identity document. Resolve the wallet issue before trying again.
Compliance review or delayed status
Cross-border transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may request documents about the payment’s purpose or source of funds. Respond through the requested channel and keep the transfer reference handy; do not ask someone else to receive the money to bypass a review. For a status you cannot resolve in the app, contact Coinepay support.
