ZaloPay is a Vietnamese electronic wallet operated by Zion Joint Stock Company under State Bank of Vietnam intermediary-payment licence 04/GP-NHNN. If you need to support family, pay a freelancer or settle with a partner in Vietnam, you can send a cross-border transfer with Coinepay Global Remittance that is paid out straight into the recipient's ZaloPay wallet in Vietnamese dong (VND). This guide walks through the details you need, the steps to follow, how your recipient sees the money, and what to do if something goes wrong.

Before you start

You will need a Coinepay account with identity verification (KYC) completed. If you have not registered yet, create your account and finish verification first, then install the app from the App Store or Google Play. Everything below is managed from the Coinepay app or the 24/7 self-service dashboard.

A few things to confirm on the recipient's side:

 • The destination is Vietnam and the payout currency is VND. The money lands directly in the ZaloPay wallet.
 • Each phone number can register only one ZaloPay account, so the phone number registered to the wallet is the key identifier.
 • Since 1 January 2025, ZaloPay requires completed biometric verification for online transfers and payments, and its current agreement requires the wallet to be linked to the owner's own VND bank account or eligible debit card. Ask your recipient to confirm their wallet is active before you send.

What you need from your recipient

Collect these details and check them character by character before you start the transfer:

 • The ZaloPay-registered phone number (or account ID if the payout flow asks for one). Use the number that is registered to the wallet and enter it exactly as the Coinepay input field requires.
 • The recipient's full name exactly as registered on their ZaloPay wallet. A mismatch between the name you enter and the name on the wallet is one of the most common reasons a payout is held.

If you are unsure which number the wallet uses, ask the recipient to open ZaloPay and check their account profile rather than guessing.

Step by step: send to ZaloPay with Coinepay

 1. Open the Coinepay app or dashboard and choose Global Remittance.
 2. Select Vietnam as the destination country.
 3. For the payout method, choose mobile wallet and select ZaloPay.
 4. Enter the amount you want to send. You can usually enter either the amount you pay or the amount the recipient should receive in VND.
 5. Enter the recipient's details: the ZaloPay-registered phone number and the full name exactly as registered. Add any other information the form requests.
 6. Review the exchange rate and fees shown on the confirmation screen. Coinepay displays the rate, the fees and the estimated VND the recipient will receive, along with an estimated arrival time, before you confirm. Take a moment to read these.
 7. Confirm the transfer and complete payment. Coinepay may ask you to verify your identity or provide information such as the purpose of the transfer or source of funds as part of compliance checks.

All transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay sends to every country and region except those under comprehensive sanctions, and both senders and recipients are screened against sanctions lists.

Tracking the transfer and how the money arrives

After you confirm, the transfer gets a status you can follow in the transaction history of the Coinepay app or dashboard. You will see the status move through its stages until the payout is completed.

On the recipient's side, the funds appear in their ZaloPay wallet balance in VND, and they will typically get an in-app notification. ZaloPay states that wallet receipt is free to the recipient. In terms of speed, Coinepay transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and the destination country, so treat the estimate shown in the app as a guide rather than a guarantee. Always check the transfer status before assuming the money has landed.

Recipient wallet limits and verification

ZaloPay ties wallet use to the owner's identity verification and bank linkage. Under its current rules, a wallet must be verified biometrically and linked to the owner's own VND bank account or eligible debit card to be used; an unverified or unlinked wallet may be blocked from transacting. ZaloPay also applies its own risk controls and may refuse a transaction when customer information needs clarification.

Specific per-transfer, daily or monthly inbound limits for international wallet receipts are not published in a single fixed figure and can depend on the recipient's verification level and local rules. The most reliable number for your transfer is the one Coinepay displays while you are setting it up. If a limit could be an issue, ask your recipient to confirm their wallet is fully verified and in good standing first.

Troubleshooting

Wrong phone number entered

If you entered a number that is not registered to the intended ZaloPay wallet, the payout may fail or reach the wrong person. Stop and check the number with your recipient. If the transfer has not completed, contact Coinepay support through the app so it can be reviewed before funds are released.

Name mismatch

If the name you entered does not match the name on the wallet, the payout can be held. Re-check the spelling against how the recipient's name is registered on ZaloPay and provide the corrected details to Coinepay support.

Wallet limit reached

If the recipient's wallet has hit a receiving or balance limit, the payout may not credit. Ask the recipient to check their wallet status and limits in ZaloPay; they may need to complete a higher verification level with ZaloPay before funds can arrive.

Unverified or unlinked wallet

Because ZaloPay requires biometric verification and a linked bank account for wallet use, an unverified or unlinked wallet may be unable to receive. The recipient can complete chip-ID or VNeID verification and link an eligible VND bank account or debit card in the ZaloPay app, then you can retry.

Transfer under compliance review

A transfer can be held for additional identity checks or sanctions screening. Respond promptly if Coinepay asks for documents such as the purpose or source of funds. Never split a transfer, route it through a third party, or try to work around checks — doing so can cause further delays.

Getting help

For anything about the transfer you sent — status, holds or corrections — contact Coinepay support or reach the team on Telegram. If the issue is with the recipient's wallet itself (verification, linkage or limits), the recipient can contact ZaloPay directly. You can learn more about Coinepay's services on the Coinepay home page.

FAQ

What details do I need to send money to a ZaloPay wallet?

You need the phone number registered to the recipient's ZaloPay wallet (or the account ID if requested) and the recipient's full name exactly as it is registered on the wallet. Enter them exactly as the Coinepay form requires.

What currency does the recipient receive?

The ZaloPay wallet receives Vietnamese dong (VND). Coinepay shows the exchange rate, fees and the estimated VND amount the recipient will get before you confirm the transfer.

How fast does money arrive in a ZaloPay wallet?

Coinepay transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and destination country. Check the estimated arrival time shown in the app and follow the transfer status in your transaction history.

Why might a ZaloPay payout be held or fail?

Common causes are an incorrect phone number, a name that does not match the wallet, a reached wallet limit, an unverified or unlinked wallet, or a compliance review. Check the status in Coinepay and contact support if correction is needed.

Does the recipient need a verified ZaloPay wallet?

Yes. ZaloPay requires biometric verification and a linked VND bank account or eligible debit card for wallet use. If the wallet is unverified or unlinked, ask the recipient to complete verification in the ZaloPay app before you send.
