Swish is a mobile payment service used in Sweden, where payments are made in Swedish kronor (SEK). A Swish number is linked to a Swedish bank account: the recipient does not receive money in a separate wallet balance. If Swish is offered as a payout method for your transfer in Coinepay, you can use the steps below to check the recipient’s details, review the transfer and follow its status. Check the available methods in the app before relying on Swish for a particular payment.
What you need before sending
Ask the recipient to confirm that their mobile number is currently registered for Swish and linked to the bank account where they want to receive the money. Also ask for their full name exactly as registered. Use the number and name the recipient provides, rather than copying details from an old conversation: they may have changed their number or linked bank account.
- Destination: Sweden. Swish is not a way to pay an arbitrary mobile wallet or bank account in another country.
- Recipient identifier: The mobile number registered with Swish. If you are paying a business, it may provide a Swish number instead; enter that only if the payout form supports it.
- Recipient name: The full registered name, for comparison with the details shown during entry or review.
- Payment details: The amount you intend to send and any information Coinepay requests for the transfer.
Follow the number format requested by the Coinepay form. Do not assume that a number format used by Swish’s merchant systems is the format required in a consumer transfer form. If you are unsure which number to enter, confirm it with the recipient before you proceed. An unregistered number does not create a pending Swish account for the recipient; a payment to that number can fail.
The recipient must have arranged their Swish registration through their bank. Someone can be set up to receive Swish payments without having the Swish app or Mobile BankID installed for sending, but the number still needs to be linked to a bank account. A request to register or change that link must be handled through the recipient’s bank, not through your Coinepay transfer.
How to set up the transfer in Coinepay
- Open Coinepay and sign in. Use the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app. If you are new, register and complete any required identity verification before starting a transfer.
- Start a cross-border transfer and choose Sweden. Enter the requested amount and follow the prompts for the destination and recipient. Review the available payout methods for that transfer.
- Select Swish if the app offers it. Enter the recipient’s registered Swish mobile number, or a business Swish number if that option is supported by the form. Enter the recipient’s full registered name as requested. If Swish does not appear, do not select a different mobile wallet and enter a Swish number into it. Choose an available method that the recipient can use, or ask Coinepay support about the options shown.
- Check every recipient detail. Compare the number and name on the review screen with details you confirmed directly with the recipient. Check the amount and payout information, too. Stop and correct a mismatch before confirming.
- Review and confirm. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm a transfer. Check the amount the recipient is expected to receive and the estimated arrival time displayed in the app, then confirm only if the details are correct.
- Track the transfer. Open its status in the dashboard or app. Keep the transfer details available in case you need to ask support about a delay or failed payout.
Payment methods can depend on the transfer details and applicable requirements. A Swish option appearing in a general discussion of Swedish payments is not confirmation that it is available for your particular Coinepay transfer; use the options displayed in the app.
How the recipient sees the money arrive
An ordinary Swish payment goes to the bank account linked to the recipient’s Swish number, rather than being stored in a separate Swish wallet. The recipient can check their bank-account transactions and, if they use the Swish app, their Swish activity. Ask them to check the amount and account entry rather than relying only on a notification or screenshot.
Swish payments between participating Swedish banks are ordinarily available to recipients immediately, including outside banking hours. That describes a completed payment within Swish; it is not a promise about how long an international transfer through Coinepay will take. For a Coinepay remittance, transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual delivery time depends on the payout method and destination country. Check the estimate shown before confirmation and the transfer’s status afterward.
The recipient does not need to send you a Swish payment to release incoming funds. Be cautious if anyone asks for an unrelated payment, a login code or a Mobile BankID approval as a condition of receiving your transfer. If the recipient is uncertain whether money arrived, they should inspect the linked bank account directly.
Swish registration, bank limits and verification
Swish does not use a separate wallet balance with a universal set of wallet verification levels. The recipient’s ability to use Swish depends on their bank-linked registration, and banks set their own eligibility conditions and payment limits. Limits may depend on the bank, the customer’s settings and the type of payment. The recipient should check their own bank’s app or online banking for the conditions that apply to their account; do not rely on another person’s limit as a guide.
For sending payments through the Swish app, a user needs to activate Swish and use Mobile BankID on the same device. That sending requirement should not be confused with the ability to receive into a registered, linked bank account. If the recipient recently changed banks or numbers, ask them to check that their current number is linked correctly before you initiate the transfer.
Coinepay transfers are also subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may ask for documents explaining the purpose or source of funds. Complete those requests accurately through the appropriate service channel; do not ask another person to receive the transfer in place of the intended recipient to get around a check.
Troubleshooting a Swish payout
Wrong number or a number that is not registered
If you have not confirmed the transfer, go back and correct the number. If the transfer is already in progress, check its status and contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer details. A number that is not connected to Swish cannot receive an ordinary Swish payment while it waits for someone to sign up. If money appears to have reached the wrong person, report the issue promptly; do not assume a completed payment can simply be cancelled.
Name mismatch
Pause before confirmation. Ask the intended recipient to verify both the full name and the number registered with their bank. Do not change a name merely to make a form accept it, and do not proceed if the displayed recipient is someone else. If you already confirmed, use Coinepay’s transfer tracking and contact support rather than sending a second payment while the first remains unresolved.
Bank limit or recipient eligibility issue
If the recipient reports a limit or an eligibility problem, ask them to check their bank’s Swish settings and contact the bank if needed. Banks set their own conditions; Coinepay cannot change the recipient’s bank registration or settings. If the payout cannot be completed, follow the status and instructions in Coinepay before deciding what to do next.
Recipient is not set up to receive
Ask the recipient whether their mobile number is linked to the intended bank account through their bank. Having a phone number or installing the Swish app alone is not the same as having a registered receiving number. If they have changed their number or bank account, they may need to update the link through online banking.
Compliance review or payment appears missing
Check Coinepay’s transfer status first and provide any requested information truthfully. If the transfer shows as delivered but the recipient cannot find it, ask them to check both Swish activity, if available, and transactions in the linked bank account. Confirm the number and registered name used for the transfer. If the discrepancy remains, contact Coinepay support; the recipient can also ask their bank to investigate its account records.

FAQ
Does the recipient need a Swish wallet balance?
No. An ordinary Swish payment goes to the bank account linked to the recipient’s registered Swish number.
What recipient details do I need?
Get the mobile number registered for Swish and the recipient’s full name exactly as registered. For a business, use its Swish number only if the payout form supports it.
Can I send if Swish does not appear in Coinepay?
Do not enter a Swish number under a different wallet method. Check the available payout options in the app or contact Coinepay support.
What if I entered the wrong Swish number?
Correct it before confirming. If you already confirmed, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly; do not assume a completed payment can be cancelled.
How long will the recipient wait?
Coinepay transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and destination country. Check the estimate in the app before confirming.
