ConnectIPS is part of Nepal's national payment network, run by Nepal Clearing House (NCHL). If you have family, friends or a supplier in Nepal, you can use Coinepay Global Remittance to send money that reaches them through a ConnectIPS-linked bank account or a NEPALPAY Instant mobile wallet. This guide explains what ConnectIPS is, the details you need from your recipient, and how to complete and track a transfer.
Where ConnectIPS is used and in which currency
ConnectIPS is used in Nepal, and payouts there are made in Nepalese Rupees (NPR). It helps to understand two related services run by NCHL:
- connectIPS is the bank-account payment service. It is not itself a stored-value wallet; it moves money from a registered, linked bank account.
- NEPALPAY Instant is the mobile-number-based, cross-network feature that can credit a participating mobile wallet.
When you send with Coinepay, you choose the payout method that fits your recipient: a bank account deposit if they want the money in their linked bank account, or a mobile wallet payout if they prefer their wallet balance. Coinepay shows the available payout options for Nepal in the app once you select the destination.
What details you need from your recipient
Ask your recipient for their information exactly as it is registered, because the receiving network matches the name and identifier before crediting:
- Full name exactly as registered with their bank or wallet provider.
- Registered mobile number for a wallet payout. In the NEPALPAY Instant specification this identifier is handled as a 10-character VPA, so the number must be the one tied to their wallet.
- Wallet provider / network, because the mobile number is looked up within the specific participating network you select.
- Bank account details (account name, number and bank) if you are sending to a bank account instead of a wallet.
One important detail from NCHL: sending to a connectIPS user by mobile number credits that user's primary linked bank account, not a wallet balance. If your recipient wants the money in their wallet, confirm with them that you should use the wallet payout path and the correct wallet provider.
Before you start
You need an active Coinepay account with identity verification (KYC) completed. If you have not registered yet, create your Coinepay account and finish verification first. You can manage everything from the 24/7 dashboard or the Coinepay app for iOS and Android. Have your recipient's full name and registered number ready, and double-check the spelling with them before you begin.
Step by step: sending to a ConnectIPS / NEPALPAY wallet
- Open Coinepay and start a new transfer. Choose Nepal as the destination country.
- Select the payout method. Pick the mobile wallet (NEPALPAY Instant) option for a wallet credit, or bank account deposit if that is what your recipient asked for.
- Enter the recipient details. Type the registered mobile number (or bank account details) and the full name exactly as registered, and select the correct wallet provider or network.
- Enter the amount. You can enter what you want to send or the amount you want your recipient to receive, depending on how the app displays it.
- Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the rate, any fees and the final amount your recipient will receive before you confirm. Check these figures along with the estimated arrival time shown on screen.
- Confirm the transfer. Review the masked or displayed recipient name returned by the network, make sure the amount and provider are correct, then authorize. A submitted payment cannot be stopped or reversed through the system, so verify everything first.
- Save your receipt. Coinepay generates a transaction reference you can use to track and to answer any questions from your recipient.
How your recipient sees the money arrive
For a wallet payout, the funds appear in your recipient's NEPALPAY-participating wallet balance, usually with a notification from their provider. For a bank payout, the money lands in the linked bank account. NCHL's network operates 24/7 and typically credits recipients quickly. With Coinepay, transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, though the actual time depends on the payout method and the destination country; the estimate for your specific transfer is shown in the app before you confirm.
Recipient wallet limits and verification, in general terms
Mobile wallets in Nepal are regulated by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), and they apply account verification levels and caps that can affect whether your transfer lands:
- Verification level. A wallet must be verified to receive and hold larger amounts. An unverified or partially verified wallet may reject or hold an incoming credit.
- Daily and monthly caps. NRB sets limits on how much a wallet can receive from bank-funded top-ups within a day and a month, counted across all channels, not per transfer.
- Balance rule. Wallets are also subject to a maximum balance that can be retained before the excess is moved to the user's linked bank account.
These figures change with NRB directives, so ask your recipient to confirm their current verification level and remaining limits with their wallet provider before you send a larger amount. If a wallet cannot accept the full amount, a bank account deposit is often the simpler route.
Troubleshooting
Wrong mobile number or wrong network
An incorrect number or the wrong wallet network means the network cannot identify the intended recipient. Re-check the digits and the provider with your recipient and select the matching network before you authorize.
Name mismatch
If the name you entered does not match what the provider has on file, the transfer can be declined. Use the recipient's full name exactly as it is registered with their bank or wallet, not a nickname or shortened form.
Wallet limit reached
If your recipient has hit a daily or monthly cap, or the wallet's maximum balance, the credit may fail. Ask them to check their remaining limit, or send to their linked bank account instead.
Unverified wallet
An unverified wallet may not be able to receive the payout. Your recipient should complete their provider's KYC steps to raise their account level, then you can try again.
Debited but no visible credit
If your Coinepay balance is charged but your recipient has not seen the money, first check the transfer status in the app. NCHL distinguishes between a Credit Failed state, which is normally refunded after reconciliation, and a Credit Timeout or Pending state, which can require reconciliation on the recipient side. Give it a short time before assuming it has failed, and keep your reference handy.
Compliance review
Every transfer is subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may ask for supporting documents, such as the purpose of the transfer or your source of funds, before releasing it. Respond promptly to any request in the app to clear the review. Coinepay sends to Nepal and almost every other country, but not to jurisdictions or people under comprehensive sanctions.
Getting help
If a transfer is held longer than expected or you entered a detail incorrectly, contact Coinepay support with your transaction reference, or reach the team on Telegram. For questions about a received amount, wallet limits or verification level, your recipient should contact their own wallet provider or bank in Nepal.

FAQ
What is the difference between connectIPS and NEPALPAY Instant?
connectIPS is the bank-account payment service and is not itself a wallet; it moves money from a registered linked bank account. NEPALPAY Instant is the mobile-number-based feature that can credit a participating mobile wallet. With Coinepay you choose a bank deposit or a wallet payout for Nepal.
What details do I need to send money to a ConnectIPS account?
You need the recipient's full name exactly as registered, and for a wallet payout their registered mobile number plus the correct wallet provider or network. For a bank deposit you need their bank account details. The network matches these before crediting.
How fast does the money arrive in Nepal?
Coinepay transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and the destination country. The estimated arrival time is shown in the app before you confirm.
I sent to a mobile number but it went to a bank account instead of the wallet. Why?
NCHL credits a connectIPS user's primary linked bank account when money is sent to their mobile number. To reach a wallet balance, select the wallet payout path and the correct wallet provider, and confirm with your recipient beforehand.
My Coinepay account was debited but my recipient hasn't received the money. What should I do?
Check the transfer status in the Coinepay app first. A failed credit is normally refunded after reconciliation, while a pending or timeout state may need recipient-side reconciliation. If nothing changes, contact Coinepay support with your transaction reference.
