Youku offers dramas, anime and other video content, but the subscription and payment options you see depend on your location and purchase channel. This guide focuses on the international Youku VIP Services subscription. It explains how to prepare a Coinepay virtual card, check the available payment options and handle a declined payment without assuming that every Youku checkout accepts the card.
Check which Youku membership you are buying
The international subscription is called Youku VIP Services. Its international iOS listing names three renewing products: Monthly Subscription, Quarterly Subscription and Annual Subscription. Look at the plan and renewal terms displayed in your own checkout before paying; Youku says the payable price can vary by jurisdiction, device and promotion.
Youku’s separate mainland China service uses the names 优酷VIP会员 (Youku VIP Membership) and 优酷SVIP会员 (Youku SVIP Membership). The former covers supported phones, computers and tablets; SVIP also covers supported TVs, boxes, projectors and AI hosts. Those are not the international VIP products. Do not buy one expecting it to unlock the other service or every title while traveling.
International VIP is offered only in certain jurisdictions, which Youku does not list in its terms. Catalogues vary, and signing in from another jurisdiction may remove access to some or all VIP content. Check availability and the content you want in your normal location before you subscribe.
What you need before checkout
- A Youku account: use the sign-in or registration options shown in the Youku service available to you. Make sure you can sign back in to the same account after purchase.
- A Coinepay account and virtual card: register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Your card number, expiry date and CVV are available when the virtual card is issued. Check the Coinepay app or dashboard for your available funds and applicable card details.
- Your real billing information: use details that accurately match your account and payment records. If a checkout requests a billing address, enter your actual address rather than changing it to another region to obtain an offer.
- A compatible payment route: Youku’s international terms mention accepted payment bank accounts and third-party payment accounts, including Apple Pay and Google Pay. The payment page determines which options are available to you. A card-entry field is not assured, and a card added to a platform account is still subject to that platform’s checks.
Have enough available funds for the amount shown at checkout and any applicable currency conversion or authorization amount. Check the payment page for the final charge rather than relying on a price seen in another region or app store.
How to subscribe and pay
- Open the Youku service available in your location. Sign in or follow its registration prompts, then find its VIP subscription offer. Confirm that the offer says international Youku VIP Services, rather than assuming a similarly named membership is interchangeable.
- Choose the subscription period. Where offered, compare Monthly Subscription, Quarterly Subscription and Annual Subscription. Read the displayed price, renewal schedule, eligible content and any platform-specific terms before continuing. The exact screens can differ between web and mobile purchases.
- Inspect the payment page. If it offers direct card entry, you can enter your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV and supply your real billing details. If it routes the purchase through Apple, Google Play or another payment account, follow that provider’s instructions to add or select a card if its checkout permits it. Do not assume a payment option shown on one device is available on another.
- Complete any verification request. Follow the prompts presented by the checkout or payment provider, including any card authentication request. Review the charge and renewal terms, then confirm only once you are satisfied with them.
- Check the result in the right account. Sign in to the Youku account used for the purchase. Youku says its VIP Member Center shows the purchased service and membership period. If an app store processed your payment, also check that store’s subscription record and receipt.
A purchase attempt is not proof of an active membership. If payment appears to have gone through but VIP access is missing, check the account and purchase record before trying again; another attempt could create an additional charge.
What if the Coinepay card is declined?
First identify where the failure occurred: a direct Youku cashier, an Apple account purchase, a Google Play purchase or another payment provider. Each may apply different rules. A decline does not, by itself, identify the cause.
Insufficient funds or an incorrect amount
Compare your available funds in Coinepay with the amount displayed at checkout. A subscription price advertised elsewhere may not be your payable price; Youku says prices can vary by jurisdiction, device and promotion. If your funds appear sufficient but the charge fails, check the transaction information available in the Coinepay app and ask Coinepay support whether the attempted authorization provides more detail. Avoid repeatedly submitting payment while an earlier attempt is unresolved.
Billing details or expired card information
Recheck the card number, expiry date, CVV and any requested billing address. Use your real billing details and correct genuine errors rather than entering a different location. Google Play identifies billing-address mismatches and expired cards among possible payment failures. If your Coinepay card details are correct, review the billing information held by the payment provider and contact its support if it continues to reject them.
Authentication or 3-D Secure does not complete
If the checkout asks for card authentication, finish the prompt through the channel it provides and return to the original checkout to see whether payment succeeded. If no prompt arrives, it expires or the screen closes, check the payment status before attempting again. Contact Coinepay support with the approximate time and merchant name for a card-authorization question; contact the checkout provider if its verification page is failing. Do not assume every Youku purchase uses 3-D Secure.
Merchant, platform or region checks
A checkout may reject a card because of its own card-type, payment-provider or regional eligibility rules. Youku does not publish a universal international list of accepted card brands, and the options shown at checkout control what you can try. Contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets a stated card requirement before you buy. If Youku or the app store says the subscription is unavailable in your location, check its eligibility guidance or contact that provider; changing billing details will not establish eligibility.
For a mainland cashier transaction, Youku documents the message “Payment failed, incorrect password” and advises contacting the issuing bank if the password is correct. That cashier’s instructions should not be treated as a diagnosis for an international Apple or Google Play purchase. If you receive a different error, save its exact wording and share it with the provider that displayed it.
How to check renewal and cancel
Keep a record of which checkout billed you. For an international subscription purchased through Apple, Youku directs users to Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → Youku Video → Unsubscribe. For a Google Play purchase, use Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → Youku → Cancel Subscription. Menu labels can change, so use your platform’s subscription list if the wording differs. The international iOS listing says to cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
Turning off auto-renewal generally leaves international VIP access in place until the paid period expires. Youku says paid international VIP fees are generally non-refundable, subject to its stated exceptions and applicable law. If Apple billed you, you can submit an eligible purchase for Apple’s refund review; submitting a request does not guarantee a refund. For a direct purchase or an access problem, keep your payment record and contact the relevant Youku support channel.
