Celtiis Cash is the mobile wallet service offered by Celtiis in Benin, managed through the MyCeltiis Cash app, USSD code *889# and Celtiis agents. If you have family, friends or business partners there, you can fund their Celtiis Cash wallet directly from another country using Coinepay Global Remittance. This guide explains what Celtiis Cash is, the exact details you need from your recipient, how to set up the transfer in the Coinepay app, and what to do if something goes wrong.

What Celtiis Cash is and which currency it uses

Celtiis Cash is an electronic-money wallet used in Benin. The wallet holds electronic-money units that Celtiis values at 1 FCFA each, so a payout lands in West African CFA franc (XOF/FCFA). The service is provided with partner banks (Coris Bank and BIIC). When you send from abroad, you choose the currency you pay in and Coinepay shows you the amount that will reach the wallet in FCFA.

One important point about Benin: since January 2025 a single phone number can be linked at the same time to MTN Mobile Money, Moov Money and Celtiis Cash. That means a phone number alone does not tell the system which wallet should receive the money. When you set up a Coinepay transfer, be sure to select Celtiis Cash specifically as the payout wallet so the funds are not routed to a different provider on the same number.

What you need from your recipient

Collect these details before you start, and confirm them directly with the person who will receive the money:

  • Registered mobile number. Benin moved to 10-digit numbers that begin with 01 — the old eight digits preceded by 01. In international form this is +229 followed by those ten digits. Make sure the number is the one the Celtiis Cash wallet is registered to.
  • Full name exactly as registered on the wallet. Celtiis registration uses a photo identity document, so the recipient's name on Celtiis Cash should match their ID. Enter it exactly to avoid a name-mismatch hold.
  • Wallet provider confirmation. Ask the recipient to confirm their number is active on Celtiis Cash (not only MTN or Moov), since numbers can carry more than one wallet.

Your recipient must have an active Celtiis Cash wallet. They can open one through the MyCeltiis Cash app, by dialing *889#, or at a Celtiis agency or approved agent, setting a five-digit secret code during registration. Remind them never to share that secret code with anyone — Celtiis says it should not be disclosed, not even to support staff.

Before you begin: register with Coinepay

Coinepay remittance is managed from the 24/7 dashboard and the mobile app. If you are new, create a Coinepay account and complete identity verification (KYC) first. You can download the app from the App Store or Google Play. Transfers are available to every country and region except those under comprehensive sanctions; Benin is eligible. All senders and recipients are screened against sanctions lists, and Coinepay may ask about the purpose or source of funds.

Step by step: send to Celtiis Cash with Coinepay

  1. Open Coinepay and start a new transfer. Log in to the app or dashboard and choose the option to send money internationally.
  2. Select the destination. Choose Benin as the destination country and XOF (FCFA) as the payout currency.
  3. Choose the payout method. Select mobile wallet, then pick Celtiis Cash from the list of wallets. Selecting the specific wallet matters because one Beninese number can be tied to several wallets.
  4. Enter the recipient details. Type the recipient's registered 10-digit number (beginning 01, or +229 format) and their full name exactly as registered. Double-check every digit.
  5. Enter the amount. Type what you want to send or what you want the recipient to receive. Coinepay will calculate the other side.
  6. Review the exchange rate and fees. Before you confirm, Coinepay shows the exchange rate, any fees and the exact amount that will arrive in FCFA, plus the estimated delivery time. Review these carefully.
  7. Confirm and pay. Authorize the transfer. You may be asked to complete additional verification or supply supporting information depending on the amount and local rules.
  8. Save your tracking reference. Coinepay gives each transfer a status you can follow in the app from start to delivery.

How fast it arrives and how the recipient sees it

Transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and the destination country, so treat the estimate shown in the app before you confirm as your guide. When the money reaches the wallet, Celtiis notifies the recipient by SMS or app notification showing the updated balance, identifies any fee separately, and produces an electronic receipt. The recipient can then check the balance in the MyCeltiis Cash app or via *889#.

Wallet limits and verification levels

Celtiis Cash has different account tiers. A fully registered wallet requires a mobile number and an accepted photo identity document. Celtiis also offers an account with limited loading when the full documents are not supplied: its terms cap the total monthly electronic-money amount at 200,000 FCFA for that limited-documentation account.

For a standard identified wallet, Celtiis's published terms set a wallet balance ceiling of 2,000,000 FCFA and a cumulative monthly reload ceiling of 10,000,000 FCFA, except with express central-bank authorization. A regulatory change raising these ceilings was announced to take effect in early November 2026, so your recipient should confirm the current figures with Celtiis. These are wallet-level holding and loading limits; they are separate from anything shown on your Coinepay transfer. The amount, rate and fees for your own transfer always appear in the Coinepay app before you confirm.

Troubleshooting

Wrong number or wrong wallet

Because a number can host more than one wallet, the biggest risk is sending to the wrong wallet on the right number, or mistyping the number. Celtiis treats a submitted transfer order as irrevocable; it allows a correction request after an error but does not guarantee recovery, especially if the recipient has already spent the funds. Always verify the full number and that Celtiis Cash is selected before authorizing. If your Coinepay transfer has not yet been paid out, contact Coinepay support immediately.

Name mismatch

If the name you entered does not match the registered wallet holder, the payout can be held or rejected. Ask the recipient for their name exactly as it appears on their Celtiis Cash registration and resubmit.

Wallet limit reached

If crediting the transfer would push the wallet above its balance ceiling, it may not complete. Ask the recipient to check their balance and limits, withdraw or spend some funds, or upgrade their verification level with Celtiis, then try again.

Unverified or limited wallet

A limited-documentation wallet has a much lower monthly cap. If the payout is blocked for this reason, the recipient should complete full registration with Celtiis (photo ID) through the app, *889# or an agency.

Compliance review

Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may pause a transfer to confirm details or request documents such as the purpose or source of funds. Respond promptly through the app to keep your transfer moving.

Who to contact

For problems with the Coinepay side of the transfer — rate, fees, status or a payout that has not arrived — reach Coinepay support or our Telegram channel. For the wallet itself — a lost phone, a compromised secret code or a balance question — your recipient can contact Celtiis on 7373 or [email protected] and should notify Celtiis promptly if their phone or code is compromised.

Ready to send? Start with Coinepay, confirm your recipient's Celtiis Cash details, and review the rate and fees in the app before you confirm.

FAQ

What details do I need to send money to Celtiis Cash?

You need the recipient's registered Beninese mobile number (10 digits beginning with 01, or +229 format) and their full name exactly as registered on the Celtiis Cash wallet. Confirm that the number is active on Celtiis Cash, since one Benin number can host several wallets.

Which country and currency does Celtiis Cash use?

Celtiis Cash is used in Benin, and payouts land in West African CFA franc (XOF/FCFA). Coinepay shows the exact FCFA amount, the exchange rate and any fees before you confirm.

How long does a transfer to Celtiis Cash take?

Transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and destination. The estimated delivery time is shown in the Coinepay app before you confirm.

I sent money to the wrong number or wrong wallet. Can I get it back?

Celtiis treats a submitted transfer order as irrevocable and does not guarantee recovery, especially once funds are spent. If your Coinepay payout has not yet completed, contact Coinepay support right away; always verify the full number and that Celtiis Cash is selected before confirming.

Why was my transfer to Celtiis Cash held or rejected?

Common causes are a name mismatch, the wallet reaching its balance limit, a limited-documentation wallet with a low monthly cap, or a compliance review. Check the details with your recipient and respond to any Coinepay request for information to resolve it.
