A PlayStation Network Card is commonly sold as a PlayStation Store gift card. It adds credit to a PlayStation account wallet; it is not a subscription. You can use the credit for eligible digital games, add-ons or subscriptions, including PlayStation Plus. This guide explains how to prepare a Coinepay virtual card, buy a gift card from a seller that accepts your payment, and redeem the code on the right PlayStation account.
Before you buy: check the account and gift card region
The most important check happens before payment: a PlayStation Store voucher must match the country or region of the PlayStation account that will redeem it. You cannot change an account’s country or region after creating it. Check the intended account’s region and the seller’s gift-card listing carefully; do not assume that a card sold in one market will work on an account registered in another.
Have access to your PlayStation account and its email, and check the seller’s delivery and refund terms. Sony’s gift-card page directs buyers to external sellers; a seller may email a 12-digit redemption code after purchase. Seller checkout steps and accepted payment methods can differ. If you are buying for a child account, note that child accounts do not have separate wallets. A wallet top-up voucher must be redeemed on the family manager’s account, which also controls the child’s spending limit.
To use Coinepay card services, register with Coinepay and complete identity verification first. Coinepay provides a virtual card number, expiry date and CVV. Check the card and available funds in the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app before visiting a seller. You can get the app for iOS or Android. Use your real name and accurate billing details at checkout.
How to pay for a PlayStation Store gift card
- Choose the correct gift card. On PlayStation’s official gift-card page, review the available seller options, or visit a seller you trust. Confirm that the listing says PlayStation Store gift card, identifies the correct account region, and shows the amount and final price before you proceed. Gift-card amounts and prices depend on the seller and market.
- Review the seller’s terms. Check whether the code is delivered by email, when the seller says it will be delivered, and what its cancellation or refund policy says. Buying from an outside retailer is a transaction with that retailer; PlayStation Store’s own cancellation policy does not govern the retailer’s gift-card sale.
- Enter your payment details. If the seller offers card payment and accepts your card, enter the Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV in its checkout. Supply your real billing details as requested. Check that your available balance covers the seller’s total, including any charges displayed at checkout.
- Complete any verification. Follow the checkout’s security prompts, if any, and wait for a clear order confirmation. Do not repeatedly place a new order because a confirmation email is delayed; check the seller’s order status first.
- Keep the receipt and code private. When the seller delivers the code, retain the order confirmation in case you need its help. Do not post the 12-digit code publicly or share it with someone who is not the intended recipient.
A Coinepay virtual card does not override a retailer’s payment rules or PlayStation’s regional requirements. If the seller states that it excludes certain card types or requires cards from particular countries, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets that requirement before buying. If it does not, choose a payment option the seller permits; do not enter an invented billing address or use a different account region to bypass the restriction.
How to redeem the code and use the wallet credit
- Sign in to the PlayStation account whose country or region matches the gift card.
- In PlayStation Store, open your profile → Redeem Code and enter the 12-digit code. You can also choose Redeem Codes and Gift Cards during a Store checkout.
- Review the redemption details before confirming. Once the credit appears in the wallet, select an eligible game, add-on or subscription and check the Store total before placing the order.
Existing wallet funds are used first at PlayStation Store checkout. If they do not cover a purchase, another payment method may be needed for the remaining amount. Sony also notes that a subscription purchased with wallet funds may still require a payment method on the account. Adding credit does not itself enroll you in PlayStation Plus.
If you want PlayStation Plus instead of wallet credit
PlayStation Plus is a separate, recurring subscription. In the US, its tiers are PlayStation Plus Essential, PlayStation Plus Extra and PlayStation Plus Premium; the top tier is called PlayStation Plus Deluxe in Australia. Each tier offers 1-, 3- and 12-month billing choices. Prices and available benefits vary by region, so check PlayStation’s official Plus page and the final checkout screen rather than assuming a gift card has a particular subscription value.
To subscribe, select a tier and billing period on PlayStation Plus, sign in or create a PlayStation account with your real details, and follow the displayed checkout instructions. If direct card payment is offered, you can try entering your Coinepay card details, subject to the Store’s payment and region checks. Alternatively, redeem a matching gift card first and review what the Store requires when purchasing the subscription. PlayStation Plus renews at the then-current Store price until canceled.
On the web, use Payment Management to manage payment methods or add funds. Subscription controls are under Account Management → Subscription. On PS5, Settings → Users and Accounts → Account → Payment and Subscriptions contains wallet funding and subscription controls. To stop future Plus renewals, use Account Management → Subscription → Cancel Subscription. Your benefits continue through the period already paid for; canceling does not automatically refund that period.
Troubleshooting payment declines and redemption errors
- Insufficient available balance: Compare your Coinepay card’s available funds with the complete seller or Store checkout total. If funds are insufficient, add funds using the options available in your Coinepay account before trying again. A PlayStation wallet shortfall may also require an additional payment method.
- “Credit/debit card information is not valid”: Recheck the card number, expiry date and CVV, then compare the billing address you entered with your real billing information. PlayStation also advises checking special characters in the address and whether the card’s region is eligible for that Store. If the issue persists, contact the relevant checkout provider and Coinepay support.
- Security verification or 3-D Secure does not complete: If the checkout asks you to authenticate, follow its instructions and check for any prompt available through your card account. If the prompt fails or never appears, do not assume the order succeeded. Confirm its status with the seller and ask Coinepay support to help investigate the card attempt.
- Merchant or PlayStation region checks: A card registered in another country may not link to a PlayStation Store account. Separately, a gift-card code must match the account region. Check both requirements independently before another purchase; neither a new billing address nor an unrelated account’s code fixes a mismatch.
- “Been updated too often within a short amount of time”: This PlayStation card-update message indicates a security block. Sony advises waiting 24 hours without retrying; another attempt restarts the waiting period. A disabled online-payment setting, unsupported payment method, card block or PlayStation service issue can also explain a failed card attempt.
- Code will not redeem: Check all 12 digits, the account region and whether the code was already used or has expired. Ask the retailer to verify activation if necessary. Error WC-40377-1 relates to a failed wallet top-up using a voucher or PlayStation card; an exceeded wallet limit can also prevent redemption.
If an outside seller charged you but did not supply a working code, start with that seller and keep your receipt. For an eligible PlayStation Store purchase, look in Transaction History → Request Refund, or contact PlayStation Support if that option is unavailable. A completed Store wallet top-up is generally non-refundable except where required by law. For Plus, a US refund request within 14 days of initial sign-up may qualify for the first payment, not a renewal; Sony may reduce the refund for service already used, and a free trial counts toward that window.

FAQ
Is a PlayStation Network Card the same as PlayStation Plus?
No. A PlayStation Store gift card adds wallet credit. PlayStation Plus is a recurring subscription that you choose separately.
Can I redeem a gift card from another country on my PlayStation account?
No. The voucher must match your PlayStation account’s country or region, which cannot be changed after account creation.
Will wallet credit pay for a PlayStation Plus subscription?
Wallet funds are used first, but PlayStation may still require a payment method on the account for a subscription. Check the requirements at checkout.
What should I do if my Coinepay card is declined?
Check the available balance, card details, real billing address and any authentication prompt. Review the seller’s card and region rules, then contact Coinepay support if the decline persists.
