There are two distinct ways to buy Sky Sports access: add Sky Sports to a Sky TV subscription, or buy a sports membership from NOW. Their packages, contracts and payment rules differ. This guide helps you choose the right checkout, enter your Coinepay virtual card details and resolve a declined payment without working around regional or billing requirements.

Choose your Sky Sports subscription first

For UK Sky TV, the sports pack is called Sky Sports Complete. It requires a base Sky TV subscription. If you already have Sky TV, you can add the pack online or through My Sky; Sky Sports F1 is also offered as a standalone channel for existing Sky TV customers. If you are new to Sky TV, select a base TV package before adding sports. Check the contract length, equipment and total shown at Sky checkout rather than assuming the price of a sports add-on is your entire monthly bill.

UK NOW offers a separate route to Sky Sports viewing. Its choices include All Sky Sports Membership, Football Membership, Multi-Sport Membership and Sports Day Membership. Monthly memberships renew automatically; the Sports Day Membership provides 24 hours of access and does not auto-renew. Flexible monthly and minimum-term offers have different commitments. Check NOW’s official membership page for current prices, included channels, renewal terms and any offer conditions before paying.

Do not substitute a package from one country for another. In the Republic of Ireland, NOW lists Sports Membership and Sports Extra Membership; Sports Extra covers TNT Sports and Premier Sports, not more Sky Sports channels. Irish offers may also be labelled Sports | 12-Month Saver or Sports | Flexible Month. Prices and terms vary by region, so use the official Sky or NOW pricing page for the service available where you live.

What you need before checkout

  • An eligible subscription in your region. UK NOW sign-up and streaming are restricted to the UK, Channel Islands and Isle of Man; UK NOW says streaming is unavailable while travelling abroad, including in the EU. Choose a service available for your actual location and follow its terms. Irish NOW’s Sports Extra is restricted to the Republic of Ireland.
  • A Coinepay account and virtual card. Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Your issued virtual card provides a card number, expiry date and CVV, available through the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard.
  • Enough funds for the payment and any card check. Review the amount and billing schedule at the merchant’s checkout. Keep sufficient funds available for the charge and any temporary authorization; do not rely only on the advertised introductory price.
  • Your real account and billing information. Enter your actual name and the billing details applicable to your card. Check them carefully against the information you provide at checkout.

Check card eligibility before you commit. UK NOW lists Visa, Mastercard, American Express and PayPal for TV memberships, but says some Visa or Mastercard prepaid cards are not accepted. Irish NOW lists Visa, Mastercard and PayPal and also says some Visa or Mastercard prepaid cards are not accepted. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the applicable NOW requirements before you buy. Sky TV’s checkout has its own payment requirements; do not assume NOW’s accepted-method list applies to Sky TV.

How to pay for Sky Sports through Sky TV

  1. Open Sky’s official sports offer for your region. Review Sky Sports Complete and the base TV package it requires. If you already subscribe to Sky TV, sign in with your Sky iD and look for the option to add the sports pack online or in My Sky.
  2. Check the order summary. Confirm the TV package, sports add-on, contract duration, equipment or delivery arrangements, and the amount due. Sky Stream subscriptions are charged a month in advance. Sky says Stream subscription billing begins on activation, or automatically 21 days after delivery if you have not activated it.
  3. Enter payment details if Sky offers card payment for your order. Use the number, expiry date and CVV shown for your Coinepay virtual card. Supply your real billing details, and complete any verification requested during checkout.
  4. Save the confirmation. Check that Sky confirms the order before trying again. For an existing account, review the change in My Sky. Sky says Sky Go viewing can begin after ordering, before Sky Stream equipment arrives; follow the access instructions supplied with your order.

For later billing changes, sign in to My Sky or use Bills & Payments in the My Sky app. Sky notes that Streaming TV and other Sky services can have separate bills, so check which bill you are updating. If your checkout does not offer a suitable card-payment option, ask Sky about the payment methods available for that particular order rather than applying NOW’s rules.

How to pay for Sky Sports through NOW

  1. Go to NOW’s membership page for your region. In the UK, compare All Sky Sports, Football, Multi-Sport and Sports Day. Select the channels and commitment you want, and check the price, any minimum term and the later renewal terms displayed for that offer.
  2. Create a NOW account or sign in. New customers can create an account during checkout. If you already have one, go to My Account → Membership → Add membership to choose another membership.
  3. Review the checkout and enter your card. If your Coinepay card meets NOW’s applicable payment requirements, enter its card number, expiry date and CVV, plus your real billing details. Follow any on-screen authentication request. Verify the final amount and whether the membership renews before confirming.
  4. Check that the membership is active. NOW says access begins immediately after joining. Look in your account for the membership and its next payment date; do not submit a second order merely because a confirmation page is slow to load.

For a NOW membership billed directly by NOW, card and billing-address changes are handled in My Account. If Apple, Amazon, EE or BT bills your membership, manage the payment method with that billing provider instead. UK NOW does not accept Direct Debit for memberships.

Why was my Coinepay card declined?

If NOW displays “Payment not authorised”, first check the basics it identifies: sufficient funds for its temporary card check, a matching billing address, the security code and the expiry date. The message alone does not establish which check failed. Use this order to narrow down the problem:

  1. Recheck the available balance. Compare it with the full amount shown at checkout and allow for a temporary authorization. If a renewal failed, check NOW’s email and your My Account payment details before retrying.
  2. Correct billing details, not your identity. Fix typing errors in your name, address or postcode, and use your real information. A mismatch may prevent authorization; do not enter an invented local address to satisfy a regional check.
  3. Check the card fields. Re-enter the number, expiry date and CVV from your current Coinepay card details. An expired card or incorrect security code can cause NOW’s authorization check to fail.
  4. Complete any authentication prompt. If checkout requests 3-D Secure or another cardholder-verification step, follow the instructions presented. If the prompt fails, close it safely, check your Coinepay app for relevant card activity and contact support before repeatedly submitting the payment.
  5. Check merchant eligibility and region. Confirm that the chosen Sky or NOW service is offered where you live and that your card meets its stated payment rules. A card cannot override a merchant’s location, card-type or billing checks. Ask the merchant about a checkout restriction and contact Coinepay support if you need help checking your card or a declined transaction.

Before retrying, check your merchant account and Coinepay activity to avoid paying twice for an order that actually succeeded. Never share your CVV or a one-time authentication code with someone claiming they can force a payment through.

Manage renewals or cancel

For NOW, go to My Account → My Membership → Cancel and cancel each membership you no longer want. A flexible monthly membership remains viewable until its next payment date; if you request cancellation during a minimum term, it takes effect when that term ends. The UK Sports Day Membership does not renew automatically. NOW says a day membership can be cancelled through an adviser only if it was bought within the last 14 days and has not been activated; other refund rights depend on the applicable terms.

Sky TV has different contract rules. For Sky Stream, Sky describes a 31-day cooling-off period after delivery and requires at least 31 days’ notice for later cancellation; ending a 24-month contract early may involve termination charges. Review your own order terms in My Sky before making a change. Whichever route you choose, keep your card funded for scheduled payments and update the payment method in the account that actually bills your subscription.

FAQ

Do I need Sky TV to watch Sky Sports on NOW?

No. NOW sports memberships are separate from Sky TV’s Sky Sports Complete pack, which requires a base Sky TV subscription.

Will NOW accept my Coinepay virtual card?

NOW has region-specific payment rules and does not accept some Visa or Mastercard prepaid cards. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the applicable requirements before buying.

What does NOW’s “Payment not authorised” message mean?

Possible causes include insufficient funds for a temporary card check, a billing-address mismatch, an incorrect security code or an expired card. Check your details and account status before retrying.

Does a NOW Sports Day Membership renew automatically?

No. The UK Sports Day Membership lasts 24 hours and does not auto-renew; monthly memberships renew automatically unless cancelled under their terms.
