To send money from abroad to someone who uses MobilePay, first check whether MobilePay is offered as a payout method for their destination in Coinepay. You will need the recipient’s registered details, and they must be able to receive the payment under MobilePay’s rules. This guide explains how to prepare, review and track the transfer without assuming that every destination or recipient is eligible.
Where is MobilePay used?
MobilePay is the consumer app name used in Denmark, Finland and Greenland. Denmark uses the Danish krone (DKK), and Finland uses the euro (EUR). The service provider is Vipps MobilePay. A MobilePay payment is intended for a registered recipient—not for any phone number that happens to be valid.
Check the destination and available payout methods in the Coinepay app or dashboard before collecting payment details. Select MobilePay only if it appears for the recipient’s destination. Do not select a different wallet or country in an attempt to route a payment to a MobilePay user. Availability can depend on the destination, the recipient and applicable requirements.
MobilePay also supports certain person-to-person payments between Nordic countries through MobilePay or Vipps. That is a separate flow inside those apps: its availability does not establish that a Coinepay-to-MobilePay payout is available for the same destination. Follow the payout options and recipient fields actually shown in Coinepay.
What details should you ask the recipient for?
- The phone number registered with MobilePay, including its country calling code, or the account ID if Coinepay specifically requests one. Relevant calling codes include +45 for Denmark, +358 for Finland and +299 for Greenland. Ask the recipient to provide the details directly rather than relying on a saved contact.
- The recipient’s full name exactly as registered with the receiving service. Check spelling, spacing and the order of names against what the recipient confirms; do not substitute a nickname.
- Confirmation that the recipient has an active, eligible account and has completed any verification needed to receive payments. A number that is not registered with MobilePay cannot receive a MobilePay person-to-person payment.
If the app requests additional information for the destination or payout route, obtain it from the recipient before confirming. Use your own real identity and accurate payment details. Ask the recipient to verify their account information rather than entering an approximate name or another person’s number to get past a check.
How to send the transfer with Coinepay
- Sign in and start a cross-border transfer. If you are new to Coinepay, register and complete any identity verification requested for the service.
- Choose the recipient’s destination. Select the country or region where the recipient uses MobilePay. Check the destination carefully before proceeding; a phone number’s calling code is a useful cross-check, not a substitute for choosing the right destination.
- Check the payout methods shown. If MobilePay is listed, select it. If it is not listed, do not assume that choosing another mobile wallet will deliver to the recipient’s MobilePay account. Ask Coinepay support about the available options before you pay.
- Enter the recipient’s details. Use the registered phone number or the account ID requested on the form, plus the full name exactly as registered. Review every digit of the number and the country calling code. If a recipient profile or name is displayed for confirmation, make sure it matches the person you intend to pay.
- Enter the amount and review the quote. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm. Check the payout method, destination, recipient details and amount alongside that quote. Also check any estimated arrival time displayed in the app.
- Confirm and save the transfer details. Submit only when the information is correct. Keep the transaction reference or confirmation available in case you need help later.
- Track the transfer. Open its status in Coinepay’s app or self-service dashboard. If Coinepay requests documents or more information, respond through its official channels and wait for the status to update.
Transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual delivery time depends on the payout method and destination country. Use the estimated arrival time shown before confirmation and the subsequent transfer status as your guides; do not promise the recipient a particular arrival time.
How does the recipient see the money arrive?
Ask the recipient to check MobilePay for the incoming payment and to check the receiving account or card configured for the applicable route. MobilePay should not be treated as an unrestricted stored wallet balance: where the money becomes visible can depend on the recipient’s country and how the payment was sent.
For example, MobilePay’s guidance for Denmark says domestic person-to-person payments go to the recipient’s selected receiving account. Payments sent through MobilePay from Finland, Norway or Sweden instead go to a selected receiving card; a credit card cannot be used as that receiving card. MobilePay says recipients of those Nordic cross-border payments must select a receiving card, so a domestic receiving bank account alone is not enough for that particular route.
Those are MobilePay’s own payment rules, not a promise that a Coinepay payout follows the same path. If the recipient sees no payment, first compare the route shown in the Coinepay transfer with their MobilePay activity and receiving settings. Have them contact MobilePay about where an eligible payment should appear; contact Coinepay about the transfer status and payout details Coinepay recorded.
Check verification and receiving limits before a large payment
MobilePay requires users to meet its registration and verification requirements. For standard signup in Denmark, its stated requirements include MitID, a Danish CPR number, an eligible phone number, email, a Danish bank account and a card. In Finland, standard signup requires Finnish banking credentials and a personal identity code, among other account details. The recipient should check the requirements that apply to their own account rather than assume that having the app installed is enough to receive money.
MobilePay also publishes limits for personal payments, including amounts received over rolling periods and separate conditions for some cross-border payments. The applicable limits vary by country and payment route; some limits count both incoming and outgoing transfers. Ask the recipient to check their current MobilePay limits and verification status before you send, particularly if they have received other payments recently. Do not try to work around a limit by sending to someone else or breaking a payment into smaller transfers.
Troubleshooting a missing, rejected or delayed payment
Wrong phone number
If the transfer has not been confirmed, correct the number and calling code before submitting it. If it is already in progress, contact Coinepay support with the transaction reference and ask what options remain. Do not assume a completed payment can be recalled: MobilePay says it cannot reverse a completed transfer made to the wrong registered phone number. If that has happened, its guidance is to contact the unintended recipient and request repayment.
Name mismatch
Ask the intended recipient to confirm the full name on their account. Compare it with the name you entered, then follow any correction instructions shown for the transfer or contact Coinepay support. Do not alter the name merely to make a payment go through if it would no longer identify the real recipient.
Wallet limit reached or account not verified
The recipient may need to check their available receiving capacity, account status or required verification in MobilePay. Wait for a legitimate limit to reset, if applicable, or ask MobilePay how the recipient can resolve an account issue. A different payout method should be considered only if it is genuinely available for that recipient and they can receive it in their own name.
Compliance review or payment not yet visible
Cross-border transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may request documents about the purpose of the payment or source of funds. Provide accurate information and monitor the tracked status; a review is not a reason to retry through another person. If Coinepay shows the payout as complete but the recipient cannot find it, ask support to investigate and have the recipient check with MobilePay or their receiving institution. MobilePay notes that receiving-account settings, bank processing and sanctions checks can affect when certain payments become visible.

FAQ
Can I send to any phone number with MobilePay?
No. The recipient must be registered and eligible to receive through the payout route offered. Confirm their registered number and full name before sending.
What if MobilePay does not appear as a Coinepay payout method?
Do not choose another wallet and assume it will reach MobilePay. Check the available options in Coinepay or contact support before confirming.
Does the recipient need a receiving card?
MobilePay requires a selected receiving card for certain payments sent through its own Nordic cross-border flow. Ask the recipient to check the requirements for the route shown in your Coinepay transfer.
What should I do if I entered the wrong number?
If you have not confirmed, correct it first. Otherwise, contact Coinepay support promptly with the transaction reference; do not assume a completed payment can be reversed.
