To send money from abroad to a Free Money Senegal wallet, start by confirming the recipient’s registered details and checking which Senegal mobile-wallet payout options appear in Coinepay Global Remittance. Free Money is now presented by its operator as Mixx by Yas, but a sending service may still use the Free Money name. The steps below explain what to check before you confirm and what the recipient can do when the money arrives.

Free Money, Mixx by Yas and the destination currency

Free Money is a mobile-money service in Senegal. Its operator now presents the wallet as Mixx by Yas; existing Free Money customers did not need to open a new wallet solely because of the rebrand. Mobile Cash S.A. issues the electronic money, while Yas Sénégal and its agents distribute the Mixx service.

Choose Senegal as the destination country. The recipient’s wallet operates in Senegalese CFA francs, known by the currency code XOF. Check the payout currency displayed in Coinepay before confirming rather than assuming that the amount you send and the amount credited will be in the same currency.

Wallet labels can differ between sending services. If Coinepay offers a mobile-wallet option labelled Free Money, select that option for a recipient whose account matches it. If the app instead shows Mixx by Yas, check that option against the recipient’s wallet details. Do not select a different wallet provider just because Free Money is not listed. If you cannot identify the correct payout option, contact Coinepay support before paying.

What to ask the recipient for

Before starting, ask the recipient to check their wallet registration and give you:

  • Their full first and last name exactly as registered on their Free Money or Mixx wallet. Use the registered name, not a nickname or a spelling taken from an unrelated contact list.
  • The registered Senegalese phone number or wallet account ID requested by the payout form. Confirm which number is linked to the wallet rather than relying on a number the recipient uses for ordinary calls.
  • Confirmation that the wallet is active and able to receive funds. An active Senegalese mobile line and valid identification are part of the wallet’s registration requirements. The line can be with any Senegalese operator; it need not be a Yas line.

A Senegalese mobile number has nine digits in domestic form, or +221 followed by nine digits in international form. Follow Coinepay’s displayed field instructions for entering it: do not add a plus sign, country code or leading characters unless the form asks for them. A correctly formatted number alone does not prove that the wallet is registered or has room to receive a payment.

How to send to the wallet with Coinepay

  1. Sign in and start a transfer. Open the Coinepay app or 24/7 self-service dashboard and go to Global Remittance. If you are new, register with Coinepay and complete any identity verification requested before using the service.
  2. Set the destination to Senegal. Enter the amount you intend to send and review the available delivery methods. Choose mobile wallet, then select the Free Money or Mixx by Yas payout option if it is offered and matches the recipient’s account. If neither appears, ask support about the available route rather than choosing another wallet.
  3. Enter the recipient details. Provide the registered phone number or wallet account ID in the format the form requests. Enter the recipient’s full registered name exactly. Check every digit with the recipient, especially if you have previously sent to another Senegalese number.
  4. Review the transfer. Check the destination, wallet provider, recipient name and account identifier. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm; review those figures and the displayed recipient amount. The app also shows an estimated arrival time before confirmation.
  5. Confirm only when the details are correct. Complete any verification or document requests shown for your transfer. Keep the transaction reference and use Coinepay’s transfer-status tracking to follow its progress.

Cross-border transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may request documents about the payment’s purpose or the source of funds. Give accurate information and wait for the review outcome; do not send a replacement transfer merely because one is being reviewed.

How the recipient checks that the money arrived

Ask the recipient to check their Mixx wallet balance and transaction activity after Coinepay shows an appropriate transfer status. A recipient with access to the wallet can use the Mixx app or dial #150#, choose Consulter Solde and enter their wallet PIN to check the balance. They should keep that PIN private; you do not need it to send money.

The recipient may also receive a wallet notification, but checking the balance is more reliable than assuming that a missing or delayed message means the credit failed. If they want physical cash after the wallet is credited, they can arrange a withdrawal with an authorised Mixx agent. Receiving into the wallet and withdrawing cash are separate operations; the recipient should check any applicable withdrawal charge with the wallet provider before withdrawing.

Coinepay transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and destination country. Use the estimated arrival time and status in the app for this transfer, and have the recipient verify the wallet balance before deciding whether further help is needed.

Wallet verification and receiving capacity

Mixx registration requires an active Senegalese mobile line and valid identification. A recipient can register through a Yas agency or Mixx agent and activate the wallet using #150# and a four-digit PIN; the Mixx app is another way to access the service. If the recipient has not finished registration or identification, ask them to resolve that with Mixx before you send.

Wallets are subject to balance, activity and customer-profile limits. The capacity available for a particular credit can depend on the recipient’s current balance, their identification status and the profile applied by the wallet provider. A wallet may therefore be unable to accept a transfer even when its phone number is correct. Ask the recipient to check their current wallet status and available capacity with Mixx; check any Coinepay transfer limits in the app or with Coinepay support. Do not try to get around a limit by dividing a payment into smaller transfers.

Troubleshooting a delayed or rejected transfer

Wrong number or account ID

If you notice an error before confirmation, correct it before paying. If you have already confirmed, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly with the transaction reference and the details you entered. Do not assume that a completed payment to the wrong destination can be reversed, and do not send a second payment until you understand what happened to the first.

Name mismatch

Ask the recipient to confirm the first and last name shown on their wallet registration. A shortened name, different spelling or another person’s name may cause a mismatch. If the transfer is still being entered, update the name before confirming. For a submitted transfer, give Coinepay the reference and follow its instructions rather than guessing at a correction.

Wallet limit reached or wallet not verified

Have the recipient check their balance, registration and identification status with Mixx or an authorised agent. Their account may have insufficient available capacity or a profile restriction, even if it has received payments before. Wait until the wallet provider confirms that the account can receive the intended credit before attempting another transfer.

Compliance review or no visible credit

If Coinepay requests information about the sender, recipient, purpose or source of funds, submit accurate documents through the requested channel and monitor the transfer status. If the transfer appears complete but the recipient cannot see the funds, ask them to check their Mixx balance using #150# or the app, then provide Coinepay support with the transaction reference. Network or device issues can delay what the recipient sees. If the recipient has lost their phone or SIM, they should report it immediately to Mobile Cash on 201123 or through an authorised agent so wallet access can be blocked.
