Revolut eSIM lets eligible Revolut customers buy travel data in the Revolut app. If you want to use a Coinepay virtual card, check the payment route before relying on it: Revolut’s documented travel-eSIM checkout uses a Revolut account balance and, in the UK, may also offer RevPoints. The steps below show how to find and buy a plan, where a card might fit into funding your account, and what to check if a separate card payment fails.

What you need before buying a Revolut eSIM

  • A Revolut account and access to its app. Revolut offers eSIM plans to eligible customers. Having an account does not mean every plan will appear for every customer.
  • An eligible, eSIM-compatible phone. Check your device’s eSIM support before paying. Purchase and first installation take place in the Revolut app, and a purchased travel plan cannot be transferred to another phone.
  • A destination and data requirement. Revolut labels its eSIM Data Plans Local, Regional, or Global according to coverage. These are travel-data choices, not Revolut account tiers.
  • A way to pay using the options shown at checkout. In the US, Revolut’s travel-eSIM terms describe payment from the customer’s Revolut payment account. UK instructions describe paying with a Revolut account balance, RevPoints, or both. Review the options presented in your own app before purchasing.

Revolut’s UK account tiers—Standard, Plus, Premium, Metal, and Ultra—are separate from its travel data plans. If your account includes an eSIM benefit, check what the app shows for your residence and subscription rather than assuming you need to buy a separate package.

Can you pay for Revolut eSIM directly with a Coinepay card?

The documented travel-eSIM checkout does not establish a direct, externally entered card-payment route. Do not count on entering a Coinepay card number on the eSIM purchase screen. Instead, open your Revolut app and see which payment options it actually offers for your plan and account.

If Revolut offers you a way to add money to your account using an external card, you can check whether your Coinepay virtual card is eligible for that separate funding transaction. Any acceptance decision belongs to Revolut and the payment providers involved. Funding your account, when available, is not the same as paying the eSIM merchant directly with the card. If your app does not offer a suitable way to use the card, choose another payment method that Revolut permits or ask Revolut support about your account’s options.

To get a Coinepay virtual card, register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Coinepay provides a card number, expiry date, and CVV when it issues the virtual card. Check the Coinepay app or contact Coinepay support for details relevant to your card and any attempted payment. Use your real identity and billing details with both services.

Step by step: choose and buy a Revolut travel eSIM plan

  1. Sign in or create your Revolut account. Complete any account requirements Revolut presents. Use the phone on which you intend to install the eSIM, and confirm it supports eSIM installation.
  2. Find eSIM in the Revolut app. The documented US route is Lifestyle → eSIM → Get data plan. UK help instructions start at RevPoints → eSIM. App menus may differ by account market or app version.
  3. Select coverage. Choose a Local, Regional, or Global option that covers your destination. Check the countries included in the specific offer; a regional or global label alone is not a substitute for that list.
  4. Select a data amount and validity period. Revolut destination pages show examples such as 1 GB for 7 days; 3, 5, 10, or 20 GB for 30 days; and 50 or 100 GB for 60 days. Your destination’s available packages may differ. Read the in-app data allowance, validity, coverage, and price before proceeding.
  5. Review checkout and its payment options. In the US flow, continue from coverage and data amount to checkout. UK instructions allow a choice of RevPoints, Revolut account balance, or both. Use only the options your app presents; do not substitute billing instructions for the separate Revolut Mobile monthly product.
  6. Confirm the purchase, then follow the installation prompts. The travel-plan fee is due when you buy the plan, even if it activates later. Check the purchase details and install the eSIM on the intended phone using Revolut’s instructions.

Prices depend on the offer shown for your account and destination. Check Revolut’s official eSIM pricing information and the final in-app amount rather than relying on a starting price from another country’s page.

If you want your Coinepay card to fund the purchase

First, identify what you are trying to pay for. The travel plan is purchased inside Revolut using the checkout methods available to your account. An attempt to add money with a Coinepay card, if Revolut makes that option available, is a different transaction and can fail for reasons unrelated to eSIM coverage or installation.

  1. Check the balance available for the proposed card transaction in Coinepay, along with any card details or conditions displayed in its app.
  2. In Revolut, check whether an external-card funding option is offered to you. Follow Revolut’s on-screen instructions rather than entering card details anywhere else.
  3. Before submitting, confirm the amount and use your real billing information. Be prepared to complete any authentication step requested during the card transaction.
  4. Once funds are available in the applicable Revolut balance, return to eSIM and review the travel-plan checkout. Confirm only after the app shows a payment option you can use and the final plan details are correct.

Do not repeatedly retry a declined charge without checking its cause. If Revolut’s screen restricts eligible card types or issuing regions, follow that restriction. Contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets a stated requirement before making another attempt; Revolut support can clarify the payment options available to your account.

Troubleshooting a declined card or unsuccessful purchase

Insufficient balance: If an attempted external-card funding payment is declined, check the available balance in Coinepay against the amount Revolut is trying to charge. Also distinguish that card balance from your Revolut balance: the documented travel-plan checkout draws on Revolut payment options. For UK auto-renewal, Revolut says an insufficient local-currency wallet balance stops the renewal and disables auto-renewal.

Billing details do not match: For a card transaction, review the name and billing address you entered against your genuine cardholder details. Correct ordinary typing errors; do not enter a made-up address or change your stated residence to try to pass a payment check. If you cannot tell which details Revolut expects, ask its support before retrying.

Authentication or 3-D Secure does not complete: If a separate card-funding attempt requests authentication, finish the prompt using the method provided for that transaction. An expired prompt, an interrupted app session, or a failed authentication can leave the payment incomplete. Check the transaction’s status in both apps before attempting it again. These are general card-payment checks, not reported Revolut travel-eSIM error messages.

Merchant or region checks: Revolut may offer different payment methods and eSIM plans depending on account eligibility and market. A card may also be rejected under a funding screen’s stated requirements. Read the restriction shown, verify that your account and real billing details are accurate, and contact Revolut support for an account-specific explanation. Coinepay support can help you check a requirement concerning your card, but neither service should be used to bypass a regional restriction.

The card succeeds but the eSIM purchase does not: Check whether money reached your Revolut account, then inspect the eSIM checkout’s selected payment source, balance, destination coverage, and final amount. If you see a pending card transaction but no completed funding or eSIM purchase, contact the relevant provider before paying again. Revolut can provide an invoice or detailed usage breakdown through in-app Support.

Manage renewal and know what cancellation means

In the UK flow, you can switch on Auto-renew data plan at checkout. To switch it off later, open RevPoints → eSIM → an active plan. Revolut says renewals draw from the local-currency wallet, not RevPoints. Auto-renewal applies when data runs out before the plan expires; turning it off prevents future qualifying renewals but does not cancel a purchase already made.

If you need to cancel or request a refund, check the terms that apply to your account and contact Revolut in-app Support. For US paid travel plans, Revolut’s terms describe contacting in-app chat about cancellation of an active plan within 14 days of purchase; conditions apply to any proportionate refund. Keep your purchase details and explain the issue rather than assuming that disabling auto-renewal will reverse a charge.

FAQ

Can I enter my Coinepay card at Revolut eSIM checkout?

The documented travel-eSIM checkout uses Revolut account payment options, not a confirmed direct external-card entry. Check the options shown in your Revolut app before buying.

Where do I find Revolut eSIM plans?

The documented US path is Lifestyle → eSIM → Get data plan. UK help instructions start at RevPoints → eSIM; your app may differ.

Why was my Coinepay card declined while adding money?

Check the available balance, genuine billing details, any authentication prompt, and any card or region restriction shown by Revolut. Contact the relevant provider if the reason remains unclear.

Will turning off auto-renewal refund my Revolut eSIM plan?

No. Turning off auto-renewal prevents future qualifying renewals; contact Revolut in-app Support about cancellation or a refund for an existing purchase.
