Orange Travel sells prepaid travel eSIMs by destination, so you can get mobile data (and on some offers calls and SMS) before or during a trip without a physical SIM. This guide explains how to pay for an Orange Travel eSIM with a Coinepay virtual card, what to prepare first, and how to work through a declined payment if checkout refuses your card.

Before you start

To buy an Orange Travel eSIM you will need a few things ready:

  • A Coinepay virtual card. Register at Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC) first. Once approved, create a virtual card in the Coinepay app (iOS / Android) or dashboard and note its card number, expiry date and CVV.
  • Funds on the card. Top up enough to cover the plan price plus any applicable charges, so the payment is not declined for insufficient balance.
  • An eSIM-compatible device. Check your phone or tablet supports eSIM before you buy, as these plans are digital-only.
  • An Orange Travel account. The sales terms require an account, and customers must be over 18 (or have parental authorization for minors).
  • Your real billing details. Use the name and address linked to your Coinepay card so the billing check passes.

Orange Travel plans and prices

Orange Travel groups its offers into "Data" and "Data+Calls+SMS" categories, with fixed-data tiers and an "Unlimited" tier on selected destination pages. Offers are sold per destination: country, regional and World options. Note that "World" does not mean every country, and regional names do not guarantee coverage of a specific country, so always check an offer's covered countries on its page before buying.

At the time of writing (October 2026), examples seen on the official site included:

DestinationExample offerDisplayed price
Europe (Data+Calls+SMS)20 GB / 14 days€24.99
Europe (Data+Calls+SMS)100 GB / 30 days€47.99
United States1 GB / 7 days€5.99
United States (Unlimited)10 days€28.99
France50 GB / 30 days€29.99
Spain20 GB / 14 days€13.99
World20 GB + 50 texts + 15 min / 30 days€29.99

Several of these were displayed as sale prices on that date. Prices are shown in euros and include taxes, and the applicable price is the one at order validation. Offers and prices change, so check the official Orange Travel destination page for the current figure before you pay.

Step-by-step: buy an Orange Travel eSIM

  1. Open a Coinepay virtual card. In the Coinepay app or dashboard, create the card and keep its details handy.
  2. Choose your destination and offer. On travel.orange.com, pick the destination, then the "Data" or "Data+Calls+SMS" offer and the tier you want. Open the offer and confirm which countries it covers.
  3. Check device compatibility. Make sure your device supports eSIM before paying — these plans cannot be installed in a non-eSIM phone.
  4. Create your account or log in. Orange Travel requires an account to complete a purchase.
  5. Enter payment details. At checkout, offer pages display Apple Pay, Google Pay, Mastercard, Visa, American Express, PayPal and Link logos. To pay by card, enter your Coinepay card number, expiry and CVV, with the matching cardholder name and billing address.
  6. Complete any security step. If 3-D Secure is requested, approve it through the Coinepay app or your confirmation method.
  7. Confirm payment. Review the price at order validation and confirm. You then receive the eSIM by email or in the app for installation.
  8. Install and keep your details. Follow the installation instructions, and save the SIM ID or eSIM phone number from the purchase email — you can later look up the eSIM by those when you top up.

Topping up an existing eSIM

To add more data later, use the Top-up page. You can Log in/Create an account and open My eSIMs, or look up an eSIM using its phone number or SIM ID from the purchase email, then select a top-up and pay the same way. Be aware that under the sales terms a completed top-up cannot be canceled or refunded. If a top-up fails after order validation, Orange says it cancels the order and payment and emails you — so check your order status and card activity before retrying rather than paying twice.

Card acceptance rules to know

Orange Travel's sales terms name Visa and Mastercard and state that business credit cards are not accepted. If your Coinepay card does not meet a merchant's card-type requirement, the payment will be refused. Rather than guessing, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement before you buy.

The terms also set transaction limits: €60 per day, €120 per month, five successful transactions per day and 12 per month. A high-value or frequent purchase can hit one of these ceilings even when your card is fine. The offer-page logos list more methods than the terms' card list, so acceptance of a specific network at a particular checkout can vary — if one method is refused, the displayed alternatives are worth trying.

Troubleshooting a declined card

Orange's help center discusses debit- or credit-card declines and notes its anti-fraud measures can be a cause; it asks customers to record the exact error message and contact its support, and does not publish a full list of decline codes. Work through these common causes first:

Insufficient balance

Confirm your Coinepay card holds enough for the full euro price plus any charges. Top up in the app and retry.

Billing address mismatch

The name and billing address you type at checkout must match what is on file for your Coinepay card. A mismatch is a frequent silent decline — correct it and try again.

3-D Secure not completed

If a verification prompt appears and is not approved, the payment fails. Make sure you can receive the Coinepay confirmation, approve promptly, and avoid closing the window mid-step.

Merchant limits or card-type rules

If you have already hit the daily or monthly transaction count or value, or if the card type is not accepted (for example a business credit card), checkout will refuse. Wait for the limit window to reset, or confirm card eligibility with Coinepay support.

Region or anti-fraud checks

Orange applies anti-fraud screening, and buyer-country rules are not fully published. Use your genuine identity and billing details — never a fake address, generated identity or VPN to get around a payment or regional check. Record the error message shown and contact Orange Travel support if the card is otherwise in good standing.

Refunds and validity

Orange says an unused eSIM may qualify for a refund — including after a change of plans, an incompatibility, or an unusable service due to a technical issue. It checks for prior use, refunds the original payment method, and says processing usually takes 5–15 working days, so refunds return to the Coinepay card you paid with. Where identity verification applies, an eSIM has 31 days' initial validity without verification regardless of top-ups; approved verification extends eSIM validity by six months but does not extend the purchased plan's data or duration.

Manage it all from Coinepay

Your Coinepay virtual card details, balance and transaction history are available 24/7 in the dashboard and mobile app, which makes it easy to confirm a charge or check why a payment did not go through. If you are still unsure whether your card fits Orange Travel's requirements, reach out through support or Telegram before you buy.

FAQ

Which payment methods does Orange Travel accept?

Offer pages display Apple Pay, Google Pay, Mastercard, Visa, American Express, PayPal and Link logos. The sales terms specifically name Visa and Mastercard and state that business credit cards are not accepted. Availability of each method can vary by checkout, so if one is refused, try a displayed alternative.

Why was my card declined at Orange Travel checkout?

Common causes are insufficient balance, a billing address that does not match your card, an incomplete 3-D Secure step, hitting Orange's transaction limits (€60/day, €120/month, five successful transactions a day, 12 a month), or anti-fraud checks. Record the exact error message, check your order and card status before retrying, and contact Orange Travel support if needed.

Can I get a refund to my Coinepay card?

Orange says an unused eSIM may qualify for a refund, for example after a change of plans, an incompatibility or an unusable service due to a technical issue. It refunds the original payment method, so money returns to your Coinepay card, with processing usually taking 5–15 working days. A completed top-up cannot be canceled or refunded.

Do I need an account to buy an Orange Travel eSIM?

Yes. The sales terms require you to create an account, and customers must be over 18 (or have parental authorization for minors). You can also use your account and the My eSIMs area to manage and top up existing eSIMs.

How do I check my Coinepay card works before buying?

Make sure you have completed KYC, created the virtual card, and topped it up enough to cover the euro price. Because Orange Travel does not accept business credit cards, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the requirement before you pay.
