Nuvemshop (known as Tiendanube outside Brazil) is an e-commerce platform for building and running an online store in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia and Chile. If you run a store, you pay a monthly or annual plan subscription to Nuvemshop, and that charge is usually processed through Mercado Pago. This guide explains how to set up a Coinepay virtual card, what Nuvemshop accepts, and how to complete checkout from the store administrator. It also covers the most common reasons a plan payment is declined.
Before you start: what you need
Paying a Nuvemshop plan is a merchant action, not a shopper action. The two use different systems, so make sure you are working inside your store's administrator, not a storefront checkout. To pay your plan with a Coinepay card you will need:
- A registered Coinepay account with identity verification (KYC) completed. You can create an account and manage everything from the iOS app, the Google Play app or the web dashboard.
- A Coinepay virtual card issued, with its card number, expiry date and CVV visible in the app, and enough balance to cover the plan price.
- Your real billing details (name and address) matching the information on your Coinepay account.
- A Nuvemshop or Tiendanube store in one of the supported countries (Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia or Chile).
Note that Nuvemshop's own help pages say direct store creation and billing are set up for those five countries, because there needs to be a local way to pay for the service. If your Coinepay card might not meet a merchant or processor requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm before you buy.
Know the plans and prices
Plan names and prices depend on your country. At the time of writing (October 2026) the public pages showed, for example:
| Country | Plan names |
|---|---|
| Brazil (Nuvemshop) | Começo (free), Essencial, Impulso, Escala, Nuvemshop Next (custom quote) |
| Argentina (Tiendanube) | Inicial (free), Esencial, Impulso, Escala, Tiendanube Evolución (quote) |
| Mexico (Tiendanube) | Gratis (free), Básico, Tiendanube, Avanzado, Evolución (quote) |
| Colombia (Tiendanube) | Básico, Tiendanube, Avanzado |
| Chile (Tiendanube) | Básico, Tiendanube, Avanzado (prices shown + IVA) |
Prices change and vary by region, so check the official planes-y-precios (or planos-e-precos) page for your country for the current figure. Keep in mind the subscription price is separate from payment-processing and platform transaction fees that apply to your actual sales. Plan charges in Brazil cannot be split into instalments.
Step 1: Create your store and account
On the Nuvemshop or Tiendanube site for your country, choose the local call to action - "create free store" in Argentina or Mexico, or "try seven days free" in Colombia or Chile. Enter your brand name, email and password, accept the terms, complete the country-specific details and confirm the account from the email you receive. Brazil also offers a continuing free Começo plan, while its three standard paid plans come with a seven-day trial.
Step 2: Open your Coinepay card details
In the Coinepay app or dashboard, open the virtual card you want to use and have the 16-digit number, expiry date and CVV ready. Top up so the balance comfortably covers the plan price plus any applicable taxes shown at checkout. Because many Nuvemshop plans enrol the card in automatic renewal, keep enough balance for the next cycle too, or set a reminder to top up before the renewal date.
Step 3: Pay the plan from the administrator (Brazil example)
The Planes y pagos / Planos e pagamentos section is available in a web browser, not the mobile app, so use a computer. In Brazil:
- Log in to the web administrator.
- Go to store name → Planos e pagamentos → Pagamentos → Pendentes.
- Select the billing period, then continue.
- Choose a payment method. Credit-card payment is handled through Mercado Pago and enrols the card in automatic renewal.
- Enter your Coinepay card number, expiry, CVV and billing details, then confirm.
In Mexico, Colombia and Argentina the path is similar under store name → Planes y pagos; the available methods differ by country. Brazil accepts a personal credit card or Mercado Pago options such as Pix, boleto, lottery outlet, Mercado Pago balance and a virtual CAIXA debit card - but business credit cards are not accepted. Mexico accepts a credit card or Mercado Pago debit card, cash or balance, with monthly and annual billing (quarterly is unavailable). Colombia accepts a credit card with automatic billing, or Mercado Pago balance, debit card, PSE or Efecty. Argentina offers monthly and annual periods (quarterly prepayment was removed in 2026).
Step 4: Check your invoice and renewal
Tiendanube keeps billing details and invoices under store name → Planes y pagos → Facturación. Confirm the charge appears there and in your Coinepay transaction history. If you entered a card during a free trial, be aware Nuvemshop warns this can trigger a payment before the trial ends; if that happens in Brazil the FAQ directs you to request a reversal.
Troubleshooting: why a plan payment is declined
Because Mercado Pago sits between you and Nuvemshop, you may see messages like "Payment not processed" with a request to validate personal data, or "issuing bank declined the debit". Tiendanube in Argentina also documents authorization needed, incorrect card number and suspected fraud, and notes that Mercado Pago may not reveal the exact decline reason. Work through these common causes:
Insufficient balance or limit
An insufficient card limit is a documented cause. Check your Coinepay balance covers the full plan price plus taxes, top up, and try again.
Billing address or data mismatch
Inconsistent account data can trigger a decline. Make sure the name and billing address you enter match your Coinepay account and your Mercado Pago profile exactly.
3-D Secure / bank authorization
"Authorization needed" or "issuing bank declined the debit" points to an authentication or bank step. Complete any verification prompt and confirm in the Coinepay app that the card is active and online payments are enabled.
Antifraud and repeated attempts
Repeated failed attempts can trigger antifraud blocks. Wait before retrying rather than submitting the same payment many times in a row.
Card already linked or profile issue
Nuvemshop notes a card already linked to another Nuvemshop store, a suspended Mercado Pago profile, or an unverified Mercado Pago account, email or an unresolved chargeback among causes. Use a dedicated Coinepay card for this store and verify your Mercado Pago account.
Region checks
Billing is built around the five supported countries. If the processor rejects a card based on where it was issued, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the requirement, and consider a locally supported Mercado Pago method such as Pix, PSE or balance.
Cancellations and refunds
Policies differ by country. In Brazil, cancellation immediately blocks the store and disables card auto-debit; a refund can be requested within seven days of taking the plan by cancelling first, then contacting support for a proportional refund - but remaining account credit is lost on cancellation. In Argentina, Tiendanube does not refund unused paid days and recommends closing near the end of the paid period. In Mexico, a help article updated October 16, 2026 says plan payments are prepaid and non-refundable under terms §3.2, though a cancelled store keeps paid functionality until the period expires. Always review your country's current terms before cancelling.
Keeping your card ready
Since credit-card plan payments can renew automatically, keep enough balance on your Coinepay card ahead of each billing date and watch for the renewal charge in both your invoices and your Coinepay history. If you need help with your card or a payment, reach Coinepay support or the Telegram channel.
