Iberia sells flights, not a monthly subscription. You can use a Coinepay virtual card to attempt payment for an Iberia booking when a compatible card option is available at checkout. This guide covers what to prepare, how to book, and what to check if payment does not go through. Card acceptance depends on the transaction and Iberia’s payment checks.
What you need before booking
- Your travel details: Know your route, dates and passenger names. Enter passenger information exactly as it appears on the documents you will use to travel.
- A Coinepay account and virtual card: Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Your issued virtual card provides a card number, expiry date and CVV. Check the Coinepay app or dashboard for your available funds and applicable card details before checkout.
- Your real billing details: Use your actual name and billing address. Do not change your country or address to get around a regional payment restriction.
- A way to review the booking: Have access to your email and keep the Iberia booking code once you receive it.
An Iberia Club account is optional for buying a flight. Registration is free: you can create an account with an email address and password if you want to use Club features. Iberia Club Clásica, Plata, Oro, Platino and Platino Prime are status tiers, not monthly flight-payment plans.
Choose an Iberia flight and fare
On Iberia’s official site or app, search for your route and travel dates, then select a flight. Compare the fare’s included services and conditions before proceeding. Iberia lists Economy fares including Basic, Optimal, Comfort, Executive, Air Shuttle and Flexible; Premium Economy and Business list Optima, Comfort, Executive and Flexible. The fares offered depend on the flight, so do not assume a particular option will appear in your search.
Check baggage, changes and refund conditions for the specific fare you select. Iberia flight prices change with the itinerary and availability; there is no fixed subscription price to fund. Review the final amount shown for your booking before entering card details, and make sure your available funds cover it.
Pay at Iberia checkout with your Coinepay virtual card
- Start the booking. After choosing the flight and fare, follow Iberia’s prompts to enter passenger and contact details. If you have an Iberia Club account, sign in if you want the booking associated with it; otherwise, follow the booking options presented.
- Review the order. Check the passenger names, route, dates, fare conditions, optional extras and total. Correct mistakes before payment rather than assuming they can be changed afterward.
- Check the payment options. Iberia says available methods depend on the country and are displayed at checkout. Its documented methods include credit or debit cards, PayPal, vouchers, gift cards and Avios, subject to the applicable booking and market. Choose the card-payment option only if it is offered for your transaction.
- Enter your card and billing information. Copy the number, expiry date and CVV from your Coinepay app or dashboard. Enter your real cardholder and billing details as requested, then check the entries for typing errors.
- Complete any verification request. If checkout asks for a card-security step such as 3-D Secure, follow the on-screen instructions. Do not repeatedly resubmit while a verification prompt or payment result is still pending.
- Confirm and save the result. Iberia says the card is debited at the end of online booking and purchase. Wait for a booking confirmation and save the booking code and receipt. A card charge or temporary authorisation alone does not establish that a ticket was issued.
Iberia’s payment choices can vary by market. For example, Iberia says Apple Pay and Google Pay are available on its site or app in eurozone markets with an eligible wallet-linked card, while its instalment option is offered only in Spain and is subject to eligibility. These are regional checkout options, not ways to bypass an unavailable card payment method.
What to do if your card is declined
A decline does not identify its cause by itself. First check whether Iberia issued a booking code or ticket confirmation, and whether your Coinepay card activity shows a completed payment, a pending authorisation or no charge. Avoid starting multiple new bookings until you understand the first attempt’s status.
Insufficient available funds
Compare the amount at Iberia checkout with the funds available for your Coinepay card. The final total may differ from the first fare you saw after you select extras or reach the payment screen. If funds are insufficient, use the Coinepay app or dashboard to review your options before trying again. If you need help understanding a card transaction or an applicable limit, contact Coinepay support.
Billing details do not match
Recheck the card number, expiry, CVV, cardholder name and billing address you entered. Use your genuine billing information, and correct any typo or outdated detail. Do not substitute an address in another country to make the payment appear local.
3-D Secure or another verification step did not finish
If Iberia presents an authentication prompt, complete it before returning to checkout. A closed prompt, timeout or interrupted session can prevent payment from finishing. If you cannot complete a requested card-security step, check the Coinepay app for information and contact support rather than assuming the card supports a particular verification method.
Merchant or region checks
Iberia decides which payment methods it offers for a booking and may apply transaction or regional checks. Its purchase terms also note that the issuing institution can decline authorisation. Check that you selected a payment method actually offered at checkout and that your real country and billing details are accurate. If you need to know whether your Coinepay card is suitable for a requirement shown by Iberia, contact Coinepay support before trying to buy. If Iberia rejects the transaction, Iberia support can help clarify the booking-side result.
A charge appears, but there is no confirmed ticket
Do not assume a pending entry means the purchase succeeded. Look for Iberia’s confirmation and booking code, then ask Iberia to check the booking if they are missing. Iberia notes that a temporary pre-authorisation can appear alongside a final charge; if both remain after seven days, it advises contacting the issuing institution. Coinepay support can help you review the card-side entries. Keep the checkout time, amount and any confirmation details handy, but do not share your CVV with support staff.
Manage the booking or request a refund
Use Manage your booking on Iberia’s site with the passenger surname and booking code to review fare conditions or request an eligible refund. For an eligible ticket bought directly through Iberia’s website, app or telephone centre, Iberia says you can request a refund without charge within the first 24 hours after immediate purchase. After that window, eligibility and costs depend on the fare; Iberia says airport taxes can still be refunded on a nonrefundable fare.
Eligible online refunds return to the original payment method within up to 30 days, depending on the bank. If you booked through a travel agency, handle the refund through that agency. Keep the Coinepay card transaction and Iberia booking records until the matter is resolved. Check Iberia’s current fare conditions for your own ticket before making a change or cancellation.

FAQ
Do I need an Iberia Club subscription to book a flight?
No. Iberia sells flights, and Iberia Club registration is free. Its status tiers are not monthly booking plans.
Will Iberia accept my Coinepay virtual card?
Acceptance depends on the payment options and checks for your booking. Choose a card option if offered, and contact Coinepay support if you need to confirm a card requirement before buying.
Why did Iberia decline my card?
Possible issues to check include available funds, mistyped or mismatched billing details, an unfinished authentication step, and transaction or regional checks. A decline alone does not confirm the cause.
What if my card shows a charge but I have no Iberia ticket?
Check for a booking confirmation and ask Iberia to verify the booking. A pending entry may be a temporary authorisation; contact Coinepay support to review the card-side transaction.
