You can use a virtual card when 8x8 offers card payment for your account, but the steps depend on which 8x8 product you use. 8x8 Work and Contact Center generally begin with a sales quote and an order; existing customers can manage bills in My 8x8. 8x8 Connect, the Communications APIs platform, has a separate prepaid top-up flow. This guide explains both without treating their payment rules as interchangeable.

Before you pay: identify your 8x8 account

8x8’s main pricing page lists 8x8 Work®, 8x8 Contact Center™, 8x8 Engage™, 8x8 for Microsoft Teams and Communications APIs. For Work or Contact Center, start by requesting a quote rather than assuming there is a public card checkout for a new contract. Confirm the product, licence quantity, contract term, billing currency, taxes and payment options in your order. Prices vary by region; check 8x8’s official pricing page or your sales quote for the applicable amount.

8x8 Connect/CPaaS is different. It offers Pay-as-you-go, Subscription and Enterprise pricing arrangements, with usage charges that vary by product and destination. Its prepaid account uses Payments for card top-ups. The Connect card policy and top-up minimum described below do not establish what applies to a Work or Contact Center invoice.

What you need before using a Coinepay card

  • An eligible Coinepay account: Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions.
  • Your card details: Coinepay issues virtual cards with an instant card number, expiry date and CVV. Open the Coinepay self-service dashboard or mobile app to view and manage your card. The app is available for iOS and Android.
  • Enough available funds: Check the amount due, currency and any applicable taxes against your available card funds. For a contract invoice, use the invoice amount rather than an advertised per-user figure.
  • Accurate account information: Have your real business or personal details and genuine billing address ready. The details you submit should match the information associated with your card; do not substitute an address from another country to try to pass a payment check.
  • The right 8x8 access: Paying a Work or Contact Center bill through My 8x8 requires the appropriate billing permission. If you cannot see billing options, ask your organization’s 8x8 administrator to check your access.

Before committing to a new order, ask 8x8 which payment methods are available for that order and whether the card you plan to use meets its requirements. Card acceptance is decided during 8x8’s payment process; having a virtual card does not ensure a payment will be approved.

How to order 8x8 Work or Contact Center

  1. Choose the service you need. Review 8x8’s official plans and pricing page, then contact 8x8 Sales for a quote for Work, Contact Center or the relevant offering. Explain where your organization needs service, numbers or number porting: calling coverage alone does not establish local-number or account availability.
  2. Review the proposed order. Check the quoted seats or services, billing schedule, taxes, currency, term and permitted payment methods. An 8x8 order may be completed as a document or through an electronic ordering process, so follow the instructions supplied for your particular order.
  3. Confirm card payment before submitting details. If the order offers a card-payment route, enter your Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV only in the checkout or payment process provided for that order. Use your real billing details. If the order instead calls for another payment arrangement, ask 8x8 Billing or Sales about your options rather than trying to use the Connect top-up page.
  4. Keep the order confirmation. Save the signed order or electronic confirmation and check subsequent invoices against its terms. If the payment does not complete, inspect its status before trying again.

For ongoing Work or Contact Center billing, 8x8 documents credit-card autopay, ACH bank debit and cheque; approved invoice-billing customers may also pay by wire. A past-due balance requires a credit-card payment rather than ACH. The methods available to your organization depend on its billing arrangement.

How to add a card or pay an existing 8x8 bill

  1. Sign in to your authorized 8x8 account, open the application panel and select My 8x8.
  2. Open the Billing menu. Review your statements and the invoice or balance you intend to pay.
  3. To save a payment method, go to Payment Methods → Add Payment Method → Add Credit Card → Validate and Save. Enter the card and genuine billing details requested by the portal.
  4. To make a card payment on an open bill, select the invoice, then choose Pay Now → Pay by Credit Card. Card entry redirects to CyberSource; check the payment page and amount before submitting.
  5. Return to the billing portal and check the payment status. Keep the invoice and payment confirmation for your records.

If you see “Oops, Please Contact Your Administrator”, treat it as a billing-portal access problem, not evidence that the card was declined. Ask your 8x8 administrator to check your My 8x8 permissions. If an attempted payment displays “well, this is awkward” while credit-card autopay is running, check the payment status first. Submit another payment only if the status shows “Declined”, to avoid paying twice.

How to top up 8x8 Connect separately

If your service is 8x8 Connect/CPaaS, sign in to that account and open Payments. Enter the prepaid top-up amount, then the card details and billing information requested at checkout. Connect’s top-up guidance states a €10 minimum; confirm the amount and displayed currency in your account before submitting. Review the resulting transaction status rather than assuming that entering card details added credit.

Connect lists American Express, Discover/Diners, JCB, Mastercard and Visa for its own card payments, and says PayPal is no longer supported. That list applies to Connect, not automatically to Work or Contact Center billing. If Connect’s card requirements matter to your purchase, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets them before you buy.

Why an 8x8 card payment may fail

Insufficient available funds

Compare your card’s available funds with the full invoice or top-up amount shown at checkout. The amount due may include taxes or other items in your order. Check your balance in Coinepay before retrying; if the figure is unexpected, reconcile it with your 8x8 invoice or ask 8x8 Billing.

Billing details do not match

Recheck the card number, expiry, CVV, name and billing address for typing errors. Connect specifically warns that a billing-address country different from the card’s registered country causes a decline. Correct genuine account information where necessary; do not enter a different country merely to get a transaction through.

Additional authentication is not completed

If checkout requests 3-D Secure or another cardholder authentication step, follow the prompt and complete it through the method presented. Do not repeatedly resubmit while a challenge is pending. If the prompt fails, expires or never appears, note the exact message and ask Coinepay support to help investigate the card side; ask 8x8 about any payment-page issue.

Merchant region or payment checks

8x8 service, numbers and porting vary by location and number type. The merchant or its payment provider may also apply checks to a transaction. Confirm that your real account location and requested service are eligible with 8x8 Sales or Billing. Do not use a VPN, an invented address or someone else’s details to bypass regional or payment rules.

For Connect, “Card is not chargeable” generally points to a payment-provider pre-check; a top-up marked “Failed” can follow payment review. Neither message alone identifies the precise reason for your transaction. Record the time, amount, product and exact status, then contact the relevant 8x8 support team and Coinepay support if needed. Never send a CVV in an ordinary support message.

Check the contract before changing or ending service

A successful payment does not change your 8x8 contract. For Work or Contact Center, check the order for its term and renewal provisions: 8x8’s published guidance describes a 12-month renewal unless the order says otherwise, written non-renewal notice at least 30 days before term-end, and 45 days’ notice to reduce licence quantity at renewal. It says month-to-month subscriptions are not offered.

To request cancellation, use Billing → Cancel Services or the 8x8 support chatbot. If you want to keep your numbers, arrange porting first; porting by itself does not cancel service. The published cancellation guidance specifies at least 30 days’ notice, says an early contract buyout may apply, and does not prorate service active during a cancellation month. Review your own order and ask 8x8 to confirm any charges before making a change.

FAQ

Can I buy 8x8 Work directly with a Coinepay virtual card?

Start with an 8x8 sales quote and review the payment options in your order. If your order offers card payment, you can enter your card through its designated payment process, subject to approval.

Where do I update a card for an existing 8x8 bill?

In My 8x8, open Billing, then Payment Methods → Add Payment Method → Add Credit Card → Validate and Save. You need the appropriate billing permission.

What should I do if 8x8 shows “well, this is awkward”?

Check the payment status before retrying, especially if credit-card autopay is running. Submit another payment only if the status shows “Declined”.

Does the 8x8 Connect top-up process pay a Work invoice?

No. Connect uses its own Payments top-up flow. To pay an open Work or Contact Center invoice, use the authorized My 8x8 billing portal and select Pay Now → Pay by Credit Card.

Why did my 8x8 Connect top-up say “Card is not chargeable”?

8x8 associates this message with a payment-provider pre-check, but the specific cause needs investigation. Check your genuine billing details and contact 8x8 Connect support and Coinepay support if needed.
