Coinepay Global Remittance supports transfers from Canada to the Philippines. You can choose a bank deposit, mobile-wallet payout or cash pickup, depending on the options shown for your transfer. This guide explains what to prepare, how to review a transfer before sending it and what to do if the payout needs attention.
What you need before sending
Start with a Coinepay account and complete the identity verification requested for your transfer. If you are new to Coinepay, register here. Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and applicable local regulations. Coinepay may request documents or information about the purpose of a payment or the source of funds.
Ask the recipient for their full legal name as it appears on their bank or wallet account, or on the identification they will use for cash pickup. Then collect the details for the payout method they prefer. Use their real information and check it with them before entering it. The fields you need can vary by payout option, so follow the instructions in the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app.
- Bank deposit: Get the receiving bank’s name and the recipient’s account number. The form may also ask for the recipient’s address or additional bank details. Ask the recipient to confirm their account details directly with their bank.
- Mobile wallet: Get the wallet provider, the name registered to the wallet and its wallet number or linked mobile number. Confirm how the number should be entered, including the country code if the form requests it.
- Cash pickup: Get the recipient’s name exactly as shown on their valid identification and confirm where they can collect the money. Check the pickup instructions presented for the selected option before sending.
The local currency is the Philippine peso (PHP). If you want the recipient to receive pesos, select PHP when that payout-currency option is presented and check the displayed recipient amount before confirming.
Choose a payout method in the Philippines
Bank deposit
A bank deposit sends the payout to the recipient’s Philippine bank account. Banks recipients may use include BDO, BPI and Philippine National Bank; check the available bank choices in Coinepay for your transfer rather than assuming a particular bank is listed.
For a Philippine bank account, use the bank-provided account number. The Philippines does not use a national IBAN format, so do not make up an IBAN or enter an unrelated identifier in its place. Account-number formats differ by bank; copy the number from the recipient’s bank records and follow the form’s instructions.
Some bank-transfer routes request a SWIFT/BIC or another bank identifier, while a local bank-deposit form may not. Enter a code only when the selected payout form asks for it, and obtain it from the receiving bank. For example, BPI identifies BOPIPHMM, or its 11-character form BOPIPHMMXXX, as its SWIFT/BIC for incoming international wires. That example is not a code for other banks and does not mean every Coinepay bank deposit is sent as an international wire. If the form asks for a local bank code or branch information, check the recipient bank’s instructions instead of substituting a code used for another payment system.
Mobile-wallet payout
A mobile-wallet payout sends money to a wallet rather than a bank account. GCash and Maya are commonly used Philippine wallets. Select the wallet offered in the transfer flow, then enter the recipient’s registered name and wallet number as requested. A wallet number is commonly a linked mobile number; check whether the form expects the Philippine country code.
Before sending, ask the recipient to confirm that their wallet can receive a remittance. Wallet providers may apply account-verification requirements or receiving restrictions, which can affect a payout even when the number is correct. If the recipient cannot receive the transfer, ask them to check their wallet status and consider another available payout method.
Cash pickup
With cash pickup, the recipient collects the payout in person at an available location instead of receiving it in an account. Philippine cash-pickup networks include M. Lhuillier and Cebuana Lhuillier, but the locations available for a Coinepay transfer are the ones shown in the transfer flow. Do not direct the recipient to a particular branch until you have checked the confirmed pickup instructions.
The recipient should be ready to present valid identification showing the name you entered. They may also need the transfer reference or other collection information specified in the instructions. Share those details securely with the intended recipient, and ask them to confirm the location’s requirements before travelling.
How to send money from Canada to the Philippines
- Sign in and start a transfer. Open the Coinepay self-service dashboard or mobile app and select Global Remittance. If prompted, finish identity verification before proceeding.
- Choose the destination and currencies. Select the Philippines as the destination. Enter the amount and select the available sending and payout currencies that match your intended transfer; choose PHP for a peso payout when offered.
- Select the payout method. Choose bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup from the options shown. Enter the recipient’s legal name and the corresponding account, wallet or pickup details. Review every digit and spelling with the recipient.
- Review the transfer. Check the recipient and payout details, the displayed exchange rate, fees and amount the recipient is set to receive. Coinepay shows the rate and fees before you confirm. If anything differs from what you intended, go back and correct it rather than confirming.
- Confirm and track. Follow the on-screen steps to confirm the transfer. Keep its reference information and use the transfer-status tracking in your dashboard or app to follow its progress.
You can manage transfers through the Coinepay dashboard or download the mobile app for iOS or Android. If a requested field or payout choice is unclear, contact Coinepay support before confirming.
Recipient-side checks that can prevent problems
Ask the recipient which payout method they can actually use. A bank-account holder should verify the account number, bank name and any requested code. A wallet user should confirm the registered wallet name and mobile number, plus any receiving requirements set by the wallet provider. A cash-pickup recipient should check the collection instructions and have identification matching the transfer name.
The recipient’s bank, wallet provider or pickup operator may ask questions or carry out its own checks before releasing funds. Keep the transfer’s stated purpose accurate and be ready to provide documents if requested. Coinepay screens customers and counterparties against sanctions lists and does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions. Do not send on behalf of someone else to avoid a screening or reporting requirement.
Troubleshooting a transfer
The recipient details are wrong
If you spot a misspelled name, incorrect account number or wrong wallet number after confirming, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly with the reference and the correct details. Do not assume a confirmed transfer can be edited. Incorrect details can lead to rejection or return, and the next steps depend on its status and the payout provider’s response.
The transfer is under review or taking longer than expected
Check the status in Coinepay first, then look for any request for information. Identity, sanctions, security and source-of-funds checks may require a response. Funding-bank processing, currency conversion, recipient-side processing, weekends and public holidays can also affect progress. Provide genuine documents through the channel Coinepay specifies; do not submit a second transfer simply to bypass a review.
The transfer was returned or the recipient cannot collect it
A bank or wallet provider may reject a payout because details do not match, the account cannot receive it or its own checks require action. A receiving bank can also decline a payment despite apparently correct details. Ask the recipient to check with their bank or wallet provider, and contact Coinepay support with the transfer reference and status. For cash pickup, confirm the recipient is using the instructed location and has the required identification and collection information. Wait for guidance on a returned transfer before creating a replacement.

FAQ
Do I need a Philippine IBAN to send to a bank account?
No. The Philippines has no national IBAN format. Use the recipient’s bank-provided account number and enter any additional bank code only if the transfer form requests it.
Can I send to GCash or Maya from Canada?
Coinepay supports mobile-wallet payouts. Check which wallets are offered for your transfer, then enter the recipient’s registered name and wallet number as instructed.
When will I see the exchange rate and fees?
Coinepay displays the exchange rate and fees before you confirm a transfer, so you can review the payout details first.
What should I do if I entered the wrong account number?
Check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer reference. Do not assume a confirmed transfer can be changed.
