Air Canada sells flight tickets rather than a subscription with monthly plans. If you want to use a Coinepay virtual card for a booking, you can enter its card details at Air Canada’s checkout, but payment is subject to the options shown for your booking and Air Canada’s approval. This guide covers what to prepare, how to book, and what to check if payment does not go through.
What you need before booking
- A Coinepay account ready for card use. Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC) before using card services. Your virtual card number, expiry date and CVV are available after the card is issued; check the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app for your card and available funds.
- Your trip and passenger information. Have your dates, route, passenger names and contact details ready. Enter each passenger’s real details as required for travel.
- Your real billing information. Use the billing details associated with your payment information. Do not enter an invented address or choose a different location to get around a payment check.
- Enough available funds for the final amount. The fare can change with itinerary and availability. Check the checkout total, including any selected extras, immediately before paying.
Coinepay’s mobile app is available for iOS and Android. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions. Some services are not available in every jurisdiction, so check availability in your account before planning to use the card.
Choose a flight and review its fare
Start on Air Canada’s official website or app and search for your route and travel dates. You do not need an Aeroplan number to book; Air Canada says you can add one later. Compare the cabin and fare choices actually offered for your itinerary, then enter the passenger and contact information requested during booking.
Air Canada’s domestic fare schedule names Economy Basic, Standard, Flex, comfort and Latitude; Premium Economy Basic, Standard and Latitude; Business Class Basic, Standard and Latitude; and, on applicable aircraft, Signature Class Standard and Latitude. Not every choice appears on every flight. Select a fare based on the baggage, change and cancellation conditions displayed for that particular booking, rather than assuming two fares with similar names have the same rules.
Prices come from Air Canada’s live booking system and vary by route, date and availability. The website edition also matters: the Canadian, U.S. and U.K. booking editions display billing in CA$, US$ and £, respectively. Review the currency and final amount shown in your own checkout; do not assume the amount will match a search result from another edition. Air Canada says displayed fares include transportation charges and taxes, fees and charges. Its Review Flight Details page shows the breakdown, so use that page to check what you are buying before you submit payment.
How to pay with your Coinepay virtual card
- Prepare the card. Sign in to Coinepay, locate your virtual card’s number, expiry date and CVV, and check the available funds against the expected booking total. If you need help understanding your card’s availability or requirements, contact Coinepay support before attempting the purchase.
- Complete Air Canada’s booking flow. Search for flights, choose an available cabin and fare, and enter the requested passenger and contact details. Check spelling, dates, airports and fare conditions carefully.
- Review the total. On Review Flight Details, confirm the fare breakdown, selected travel options, currency and amount payable. If you add a seat or other option, review its cost before continuing.
- Select the card-payment option offered at checkout. Enter the Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV in the payment fields. Supply your real billing details wherever Air Canada asks for them. Air Canada’s listed card options vary by website edition and may include American Express, China UnionPay, Diners Club, Mastercard, Visa and UATP, as well as listed debit cards. The presence of a card option does not establish that any particular card will be accepted.
- Complete any required verification and submit once. If checkout requests an additional authentication step, follow the on-screen instructions. Wait for Air Canada’s booking confirmation rather than treating a temporary booking display or an attempted charge as proof that ticketing is complete. Keep the confirmation and check the booking details.
Air Canada permits at most two forms of payment when purchasing a booking, but only one when buying a seat or travel option for an existing reservation. If you plan to combine payment methods, follow the combinations and amounts Air Canada offers at checkout. Other methods, such as PayPal or eligible credits, vary by website edition and account; they are separate from paying with your Coinepay card.
If Air Canada declines the card or checkout fails
A decline does not by itself identify the cause. Avoid repeatedly submitting the same payment without checking the booking and card status first. Work through these possibilities in order:
- Insufficient available funds: Compare your Coinepay available funds with Air Canada’s final checkout amount and currency, including selected extras. Check the Coinepay app for your current card and fund information. If a charge or authorization appears but Air Canada has not confirmed the ticket, contact support before trying again so you can explain what happened.
- Billing details do not match: Recheck the card number, expiry date and CVV for typing errors. Enter your genuine billing name and address where requested, consistent with the details you use for payment. If you are unsure which details apply to your card, ask Coinepay support rather than guessing.
- An additional authentication step was not completed: If you see a 3-D Secure or other card-verification prompt, complete it as instructed and return to checkout. If the prompt does not appear, expires or repeatedly fails, record what the screen says and contact Coinepay support to check whether your card can complete the verification required for this transaction. Do not assume that the card supports a particular authentication flow.
- Website-edition or merchant checks: Confirm you are using the Air Canada booking edition appropriate to your real location and that its checkout offers a suitable card-payment option. A merchant may apply additional payment or regional checks; neither the card-entry form nor a displayed card logo guarantees acceptance. Air Canada’s booking FAQ also says its website cannot book a standalone U.S.-domestic route or an itinerary between two international cities without a Canadian connection. If your itinerary cannot be booked there, changing billing details will not fix that route restriction.
- A checkout or booking-system error: Save the exact message, note whether a booking confirmation was issued, and check for any card activity before another attempt. Customers have reported seeing “We’re sorry, we weren’t able to process your payment. Please try again. If the issue persists, please try another form of payment. (BKRW-EIP-620).” That report does not establish an official meaning for the code or show that your card was declined. Ask Air Canada about the booking or checkout message and Coinepay about any card-side transaction status.
Do not use a false address, someone else’s identity or other workarounds for regional and payment rules. If Air Canada states a card-type or issuing-country requirement for your particular checkout, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets it before you buy; do not assume it does.
After payment: manage or cancel your booking
Keep your Air Canada confirmation and review the ticket and itinerary. Eligible flights booked on aircanada.com can be changed or cancelled through Manage My Bookings; if you booked through another source, return to that source for changes. Air Canada says it will cancel a purchased ticket for a full refund without penalty within 24 hours of purchase. After that window, the fare’s rules govern voluntary changes and cancellation, so read them before choosing a fare.
A standard flight purchase is not a recurring Air Canada subscription. If checkout offers Flex Pay, that is a separate financing option rather than a fare tier or a Coinepay card feature. Applicants receive a decision and choose from offered terms, which may include interest; Flex Pay loan payments, AutoPay and its payment method are managed through Flex Pay’s online account. Choose it only if you intend to use those financing terms, not as a way to troubleshoot a declined card.

FAQ
Do I need an Aeroplan account to book an Air Canada flight?
No. An Aeroplan number is optional during booking, and Air Canada says you can add it later.
Will Air Canada accept my Coinepay virtual card?
Acceptance depends on the payment options and checks for your booking. Check the card options at checkout; if Air Canada specifies a card-type or issuing-country requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets it before buying.
What should I do if Air Canada shows a payment error but I see card activity?
Check whether Air Canada issued a booking confirmation and save the exact error message. Ask Air Canada about the booking and contact Coinepay support about the card activity before submitting payment again.
Can I cancel an Air Canada ticket after paying?
Air Canada says a purchased ticket can be cancelled for a full refund without penalty within 24 hours of purchase. After that, the fare rules apply. Use Manage My Bookings for eligible aircanada.com bookings, or return to the source where you booked.
