You can choose a Revolut personal plan in the Revolut app and, if its billing flow offers card payment for your account, try paying with a Coinepay virtual card. Whether Revolut accepts a particular card depends on its requirements for your country and the payment being made. This guide separates paying for a plan from adding money to a Revolut account—two actions with different card rules.

Before you start

Check that you are eligible to open a Revolut personal account where you legally reside. Revolut asks applicants for personal details and identity verification; its US sign-up guidance lists a phone number, email, government-issued identity document and selfie. Use your real identity and billing details throughout. Revolut allows one personal account per person.

You will also need a Coinepay account. Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using its card services. Your virtual card’s number, expiry date and CVV are available after issuance in the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard. Check the app for any applicable card-service terms and ensure you have enough available funds for the charge you intend to make.

Revolut’s personal-plan lineup varies by country. Standard, Plus, Premium, Metal and Ultra appear on its UK, Ireland, Germany and Australia plan comparisons. The US personal-plan comparison lists Standard, Premium and Metal, but not Plus or Ultra. Standard has no monthly plan fee in those markets; paid-plan prices, features and billing terms depend on your country. Review Revolut’s official pricing page and the terms shown in your app before choosing.

Choose a Revolut plan and check its billing options

  1. Sign up or sign in to Revolut. Use the Revolut app, provide your actual personal information and complete the verification steps it requests. If you already have an account, sign in rather than creating another personal account.
  2. Open the plan selection screen. Tap the profile icon → Your plan → See plans, then choose the plan you want and follow the prompts. Revolut says an upgrade takes effect immediately.
  3. Review the price and billing period. Where offered, select monthly or annual payment during plan setup or when changing plans. Check the amount, renewal terms and any conditions for changing or ending the plan before confirming.
  4. Check the payment method presented. If your account’s plan checkout offers a field for a payment card, enter your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV. Provide your genuine billing details, matching the details associated with your card where requested. Follow any payment-authentication prompt rather than closing it.
  5. Confirm only after reviewing the final screen. If Revolut does not offer your card as a payment option, or declines it, do not assume that an account top-up is the same as a successful plan subscription. Use the available method Revolut specifies for your account or ask support about your options.

After subscribing, open profile icon → Your plan → Billing in Revolut to inspect your plan, charge and next payment. In the US, Revolut’s guidance says annual billing can be selected after first subscribing monthly. The options you see in your own app should determine your next step.

Check card requirements before relying on a Coinepay card

Revolut’s US terms for Premium and Metal subscription charges specify a registered debit or credit card. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement before you buy. You can also ask Revolut whether the card you intend to use is eligible for paid-plan billing on your particular account. Do not treat acceptance for another purchase—or for adding money to an account—as confirmation that a subscription charge will work.

In particular, Revolut publishes separate rules for card top-ups. For UK account top-ups, its supported-card guidance excludes credit cards and several other card categories. For US account top-ups, it excludes, among other categories, commercial cards, gift cards and cards issued outside the US; US card top-ups must be in USD. These are funding restrictions, not a complete list of cards accepted for paid-plan billing. If you need to add money to your Revolut account, check the funding rules for your country independently of the subscription terms.

What to do if a card payment is declined

Start by identifying which action failed: a paid-plan charge or an Add money card top-up. Check the transaction or billing screen in Revolut for the reason shown, then look in Coinepay for the card’s status and available funds. Revolut documents reasons such as “Failed 3D secure” and “Declined by your external bank” for failed top-ups; those phrases should not be assumed to be the messages shown at plan checkout.

  • Insufficient available funds: Check the charge Revolut is requesting and your Coinepay card’s available funds. Allow for the possibility that the amount or billing period differs from what you expected; verify the final Revolut screen rather than repeatedly retrying an unchanged payment.
  • Billing details do not match: Recheck any name, address and other billing fields against your genuine cardholder details. Correct typing mistakes, but do not enter an invented address or change your stated country to bypass a check.
  • 3-D Secure authentication fails or expires: If an authentication step appears, complete it as instructed. If it does not arrive, times out or fails, check the card and any prompts in Coinepay, then contact Coinepay support. A “Failed 3D secure” reason on a Revolut top-up is a useful clue, but it does not establish why a separate plan charge failed.
  • Merchant or region checks block the card: Confirm that Revolut supports your actual country of residence and that the plan is available on your account. Card eligibility may also depend on the payment type and country. The published US restriction on cards issued outside the US concerns top-ups; do not assume it describes every subscription charge. Ask Revolut about its billing requirement and Coinepay support about your card rather than trying to work around a regional restriction.
  • Account or technical issue: Revolut lists restricted accounts and technical problems among possible top-up failure causes. Check for an in-app notice and follow Revolut’s instructions. If the charge appears pending, verify its status before attempting it again.

If you are trying to fund the account instead of paying for a plan, Revolut’s card top-up path is Home → Add money → enter an amount → payment method → choose a saved or new card → Continue. A successful top-up does not by itself change your plan or establish that Revolut can charge that card for renewals.

Manage renewal or change your plan

Check profile icon → Your plan → Billing for your next payment. To consider another plan, use Your plan → See plans and review the prompts before making a change. Keep an eligible payment method available if you intend to renew. Under the US Premium and Metal terms, if Revolut cannot charge the registered card, it can request a replacement stored card and may then collect from the Revolut account.

If you want to end a paid plan, check the cancellation terms for your country before confirming a downgrade. For example, UK terms describe a subscription refund within 14 days, though charges for a supplied plan card and its delivery may apply. After that period, UK refunds and possible break fees depend on the plan, billing period and time since you subscribed. Do not assume those UK terms apply to a US or other-country account.

Need help with your Coinepay card? Use Coinepay support. For eligibility, plan charges or a decline displayed inside Revolut, consult Revolut’s in-app help. Neither provider can be assumed to approve a card that does not meet the applicable payment or account requirements.

FAQ

Can I pay for Revolut Premium or Metal with a Coinepay virtual card?

You can try if card payment is offered for your account, but acceptance is not assured. US Premium and Metal subscription terms require a registered debit or credit card; contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets that requirement before buying.

Where can I see my Revolut plan's next charge?

In the Revolut app, go to profile icon → Your plan → Billing to see your plan, charge and next payment.

Does adding money to Revolut pay for a subscription?

No. A card top-up funds your Revolut account; selecting a paid plan and arranging its billing are separate steps with potentially different card rules.

Why did my virtual card payment fail?

Check the displayed reason and whether the failed action was a plan charge or a top-up. Possible issues to investigate include available funds, incorrect billing details, incomplete authentication and card or region eligibility.
