LINE's business Official Account plans are paid monthly, and you register a card before you can upgrade from the free tier. This guide shows how to set up a Coinepay virtual card, add it to your Official Account billing, and complete the purchase - plus what to check if a payment is declined. It covers the paid Official Account plans, not LINE's consumer features.
Note that card payment steps and available plans vary by market. Always confirm the plan name, price and allowance shown at your own checkout before you confirm.
What you need before you start
- A verified LINE account and a LINE Official Account you own or manage (a new account starts on the free plan automatically).
- A phone number registered in LINE - LINE requires this for direct credit-card payment.
- A Coinepay virtual card with its card number, expiry date and CVV. If you don't have one yet, register with Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC) first, then create a card in the dashboard or the iOS or Android app.
- Enough balance on the card to cover the monthly plan price, which is billed before any applicable tax.
- Your real billing details - name and address - matching your Coinepay profile.
Check which LINE plan and price apply to you
LINE Official Account plan names and prices differ by country. At the time of writing (October 2026), the published list prices (before tax) were:
| Market | Free plan | Mid plan | Top plan |
|---|---|---|---|
| Japan | Communication (¥0) | Light (¥5,000) | Standard (¥15,000) |
| Taiwan | Light-use (NT$0) | Medium-use (NT$800) | High-use (NT$1,200) |
| Thailand | Free (THB 0) | Basic (THB 1,280) | Pro (THB 1,780) |
Included monthly message counts differ by plan and market, so verify the allowance displayed at checkout rather than relying on a figure from any guide. Prices change: for example, Taiwan announced increases to Medium-use (NT$1,000) and High-use (NT$1,400) effective November 1, 2026, and Japan revised additional Standard-plan message pricing from October 1, 2026. Check LINE's official pricing page for your region for the current figures.
Also note that in Indonesia, Singapore and the United States, only the free Communication plan is available under the general help guidance - paid plans, Chat Pro and Premium IDs are not offered there.
Step 1: Create your Coinepay virtual card
- Sign in to the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app.
- Create a virtual card. You'll immediately see the card number, expiry date and CVV.
- Fund the card so it has enough to cover the monthly plan price plus tax. If you run an ad business, you can also issue a dedicated card per account and set a custom spending limit - useful for keeping LINE billing separate from other spend.
Step 2: Register the card as your LINE payment method
LINE accepts direct credit-card payment, and in some markets LINE Pay backed by a credit card. The direct-card brands listed vary by region: the general help page lists Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express and Diners; Taiwan lists only Visa, Mastercard and JCB; Japan lists Visa, Mastercard, JCB, American Express and Diners Club (or invoice billing). Because card networks and acceptance can differ, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets your market's requirement before you buy.
- On desktop (Official Account Manager): go to Settings → Activity and billing → Payment method and add your card.
- On the smartphone-browser Web store: open the purchase page and use Payment settings → Payment method. (The purchase flow can't be completed inside the Official Account app - use a smartphone browser or desktop.)
- Enter the Coinepay card number, expiry and CVV, and your billing details exactly as they appear in your Coinepay profile.
Step 3: Upgrade your plan and purchase
- Desktop: go to Settings → Activity and billing → Monthly plan → Upgrade.
- Smartphone browser: open the Web store and go to Account settings → Plan → Upgrade.
- Choose the plan you want, review the price and message allowance, accept the terms, and select Purchase.
- If your card is enrolled in 3-D Secure, approve the prompt from your bank or in the Coinepay app to finish.
A failed plan purchase isn't retried automatically - if it fails, you need to start the purchase again after fixing the cause.
Troubleshooting a declined card
Insufficient balance or spending limit
LINE advises checking the card's spending limit when a payment fails. Make sure your Coinepay card has enough funds for the plan price plus tax (and any per-card spending limit you set is high enough), then retry the purchase.
Expired or unusable card
Confirm the expiry date is still valid. If the card is no longer usable, update it in billing settings - Settings → Activity and billing → Payment method on desktop or Payment settings → Payment method on the smartphone browser - then buy the plan again.
Billing address mismatch
If the billing name or address you entered doesn't match your card record, the charge can be refused. Re-enter the exact details from your Coinepay profile and try again.
3-D Secure not completed
If the authentication prompt times out or is dismissed, the payment won't go through. Keep the Coinepay app handy to approve the verification, then re-run the purchase.
Region and card-brand checks
Some markets restrict the accepted card brands (for example Taiwan lists only Visa, Mastercard and JCB) and paid plans aren't sold in every country. If your plan or brand isn't available, that's a merchant policy rather than a card fault. Use your real identity and billing country - don't try to bypass regional checks.
"This LINE account is already in use"
Taiwan's help notes that this message can appear during payment-method registration. LINE attributes it to Business ID or account linking rather than a card decline, and gives separate login steps - so check your account linking rather than your card.
If a charge still won't go through after these checks, reach out to Coinepay support or message us on Telegram to confirm the card is active and the transaction wasn't blocked on our side.
Managing, downgrading and refunds
To stop paying, change your paid plan back to the free plan through Plan on the browser purchase page or Settings → Activity and billing → Monthly plan on desktop. Paid-to-free downgrades take effect the following month. In Japan, the Official Account terms charge the full month even if you cancel mid-month, aren't prorated per day, and fees already paid aren't refunded even if the account is closed; whether other markets apply identical refund terms isn't confirmed, so check your local terms. To change the card used for future charges, update it in the same billing settings. Your Coinepay dashboard is available 24/7 so you can top up or adjust card limits before your next LINE billing date.

FAQ
Can I pay for a LINE Official Account plan with a Coinepay virtual card?
You can add a Coinepay virtual card as your direct credit-card payment method in LINE's billing settings, provided it meets your market's accepted card brand requirement. Because accepted brands differ by region (for example Taiwan lists only Visa, Mastercard and JCB), contact Coinepay support to confirm your card qualifies before you buy.
Why was my card declined when upgrading my LINE plan?
Common causes are insufficient balance or a too-low spending limit, an expired or unusable card, a billing address that doesn't match your card record, or an incomplete 3-D Secure check. Fix the cause, then start the purchase again, since a failed plan purchase is not retried automatically.
How much does a LINE Official Account plan cost?
Prices vary by country and are billed before tax. At the time of writing (October 2026), Japan listed Light at ¥5,000 and Standard at ¥15,000, Taiwan listed Medium-use at NT$800 and High-use at NT$1,200, and Thailand listed Basic at THB 1,280 and Pro at THB 1,780. Prices change, so check LINE's official pricing page for your region.
Where do I update the card used for LINE billing?
On desktop, go to Settings → Activity and billing → Payment method in Official Account Manager. On the smartphone-browser purchase page, use Payment settings → Payment method. The purchase flow can't be completed inside the Official Account app.
Will I get a refund if I downgrade mid-month?
Downgrades from a paid plan to the free plan take effect the following month. In Japan, the full month is charged even for mid-month cancellation and fees already paid aren't refunded; other markets may differ, so review your local LINE Official Account terms.
