TextNow offers free calling and texting over Wi-Fi or another carrier’s data, alongside paid wireless plans and add-ons. If you want to use a Coinepay virtual card for a TextNow purchase, first check which TextNow product you need and where its checkout takes place. A wireless-plan payment made through TextNow is different from an in-app subscription billed by Apple or Google.

Before you pay: check your account, plan and eligibility

TextNow names its wireless tiers Free Plan, Plus Plan and Unlimited Plan. Its SIM-based free offering is also called the Free data plan or Free Flex plan. Plus has Plus Weekly Plan and Plus Monthly Plan options; Unlimited has weekly and monthly billing options. TextNow also offers data passes, while Ad-Free+ and Lock in Number are separate in-app subscriptions, not wireless tiers. Check the current price and billing interval in TextNow’s app or on its official pricing page before confirming a purchase; they can vary by product and region.

TextNow limits app use and new-account registration to North America. Cellular service requires activation of a compatible TextNow SIM or eSIM. Since July 30, 2026, TextNow says cellular coverage has ceased for SIM lines based outside the United States, including affected lines in Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. That is different from roaming by an active U.S.-based line: TextNow lists Mexico roaming on every wireless plan and Canada roaming on Plus or Unlimited. Check TextNow’s current eligibility information before buying a cellular plan; a payment card cannot change service availability.

To get a Coinepay card, register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. You can manage the card in the 24/7 self-service dashboard or the Coinepay mobile app for iOS or Android. Once issued, its card number, expiry date and CVV are available instantly. Check your available funds in Coinepay against the amount TextNow shows at checkout, including any applicable taxes. Use your real identity and accurate billing details; do not enter an invented address to try to pass a payment or regional check.

TextNow says it accepts credit, debit and prepaid cards bearing Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, Discover or Diners Club. Do not assume your particular Coinepay card qualifies or that TextNow will approve it. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets TextNow’s stated card requirements before you buy.

Step 1: Create your TextNow account and choose the right service

  1. Download the TextNow app through your device’s app store, or go to TextNow’s official website by typing its name into your browser. Follow the current prompts to register with your real account information.
  2. If you only need calling and texting over Wi-Fi or another carrier’s data, start with the free app. You do not need to buy a wireless plan just to assess that use case.
  3. If you need TextNow cellular service, check your phone’s compatibility and follow TextNow’s SIM or eSIM activation instructions. On an eligible eSIM phone, look in the app’s My Account area or menu for Install eSIM, Get Free Data or Go Wireless. Stay connected to Wi-Fi while following the activation prompts.

Finish checking the service and plan shown in your account before entering card details. The free app, a recurring Plus subscription and a one-time data pass have different payment and cancellation consequences.

Step 2: Pay for Plus or a data pass

Plus Weekly Plan or Plus Monthly Plan

  1. In the TextNow app, open My Plan and select Plus Weekly Plan or Plus Monthly Plan.
  2. Follow the phone-activation steps presented for your account. Review the displayed price, billing period and renewal terms before proceeding.
  3. When TextNow asks for payment details, enter your Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV, along with your accurate billing information. Review the final order, then confirm it.
  4. Check My Plan for the resulting subscription status. If you already pay for Apple- or Google-billed Ad-Free+, turn off its auto-renewal first if you do not want both subscriptions running.

TextNow says Plus Weekly provides 5 GB of full-speed data per weekly billing period and Plus Monthly provides 20 GB per monthly billing period, followed by reduced speeds. Both renew until canceled. Confirm the terms displayed for your account rather than treating a store listing for a similarly named item as the wireless-plan checkout.

Free Flex data passes

If you have an active SIM on Free Flex, open the app menu and choose Get Unlimited Data to view available hour, day and month passes. Select a pass, review its price and duration, and follow the payment prompts. Hour and day passes are one-time purchases that start when confirmed; TextNow says they cannot be canceled or managed afterward. A recurring Month Pass needs separate attention when you no longer want it.

For an Unlimited Plan weekly or monthly option, use the plan choices shown in your TextNow account and review the checkout terms there. Do not rely on a price mentioned for an existing customer’s network migration as a general Unlimited checkout price.

Step 3: Check payment records and manage renewals

For TextNow-managed billing, you can update billing information in the app through the menu → My Account, or sign in on TextNow’s website and open My Account. On the website, My Account → Payments → Payment Methods lets you add or edit a card; Purchase History contains past-payment invoices. Monthly subscriptions renew automatically using the payment card on file, so keep that card’s details and available funds current if you intend to continue.

Cancel Plus Weekly or Plus Monthly from My Plan. To stop a recurring Month Pass, open its subscription in the app and select Cancel Month Pass, or manage it through My Account. If you are deactivating a TextNow SIM, cancel any data subscription first. Check the cancellation status rather than assuming removal of a card or deactivation of a SIM ends billing.

Store-billed purchases follow a different route: TextNow says Ad-Free+ is purchased through Apple’s App Store or Google Play. Manage Apple- or Google-billed Ad-Free+, Ad Free Lite and Lock Your Number in that store’s subscription settings, not TextNow’s card-management screen. TextNow directs Ad-Free+ refund requests to the billing store. If your card is saved with a store, a store checkout or decline may need to be resolved through that store’s payment settings.

If your Coinepay card is declined

A failed payment does not, by itself, identify the cause. TextNow has not published a definitive error message for each of the checks below. Note the exact message, where you saw it and whether TextNow or an app store handled checkout before taking the next step.

  • Insufficient available balance: Compare the amount due at checkout with the funds available on your Coinepay card, allowing for any taxes displayed. If funds are insufficient, address that in Coinepay before trying again. For a renewal, also check whether an earlier payment attempt changed the subscription status.
  • Billing address or card-detail mismatch: Re-enter the card number, expiry and CVV carefully. Check that the billing details you supplied are your real, accurate details and match the information associated with the payment method. Correct an error; do not substitute another person’s address.
  • 3-D Secure or another verification step: If checkout presents an authentication prompt, complete the legitimate step shown and return to the purchase screen. If the prompt fails, times out or never appears, record what happened and contact Coinepay support. Do not assume TextNow uses the same verification flow for every purchase.
  • Card eligibility or merchant region checks: Recheck TextNow’s accepted card categories and networks and the availability of the product in your actual location. A region or card-eligibility restriction cannot be fixed by changing your billing country to one that is not yours. Ask Coinepay support to confirm the card’s eligibility, and ask TextNow about an account-specific checkout restriction.
  • Wrong billing channel: If the charge is for Ad-Free+ or another store-billed add-on, inspect the payment method and any error in Apple’s or Google’s subscription and payment settings. Editing a card under TextNow’s Payment Methods may not change a store-managed purchase.

Before retrying repeatedly, check whether the purchase already appears in My Plan, the relevant store subscription screen or TextNow’s Purchase History. If it does not, contact the party handling checkout with the exact error and purchase time. For questions about the Coinepay card or its available funds, use Coinepay support.

FAQ

Can I use a Coinepay virtual card for a TextNow Plus plan?

TextNow accepts specified card types and networks, but approval of a particular card is not assured. Check the Plus checkout terms and ask Coinepay support to confirm your card meets TextNow’s requirements before buying.

Where do I change the card used for TextNow renewals?

For TextNow-managed billing, use the app menu → My Account, or the website’s My Account → Payments → Payment Methods. For an Apple- or Google-billed subscription, change the payment method in that store.

Does a TextNow hour or day data pass renew?

TextNow describes hour and day passes as one-time purchases that start on confirmation. Review the pass shown in Get Unlimited Data before paying.

Where do I cancel TextNow Plus or Ad-Free+?

Cancel Plus Weekly or Plus Monthly in My Plan. Cancel Apple- or Google-billed Ad-Free+ in the corresponding store’s subscription settings.
