BookMyShow sells movie and event tickets by booking, rather than through a company-wide ticket subscription. You can enter a Coinepay virtual card at checkout if the payment options for your booking permit it. Before choosing seats, check the rules for the BookMyShow country site you are using: accepted cards and cancellation policies differ by market.
What you need before booking
- A Coinepay account and verified identity. Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using its card services. You can get started with Coinepay or use the Coinepay mobile app for iOS or Android.
- Your virtual card details. Coinepay provides a card number, expiry date and CVV when it issues a virtual card. Check the Coinepay dashboard or app for the details and the funds available for your purchase.
- A BookMyShow listing you can attend or use. Select the appropriate country site and read the event, venue or viewing conditions. Ticket prices vary by listing; the payable amount appears during checkout.
- Your real contact and billing details. Use information that accurately belongs to you. Have access to the phone or email needed for BookMyShow sign-in and any card authentication requested during payment.
For India bookings, BookMyShow support says Indian-issued cards are normally needed, although certain events accept international-issued cards. Do not assume a virtual card qualifies for a particular booking. Contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets the relevant requirement before you buy, and check the payment options displayed for the event. Do not change your address or location details to bypass a regional rule.
Sign in to BookMyShow and choose a ticket
- Open the BookMyShow website or app for the country where you intend to book. For India, choose Sign-in and use an offered sign-in method, or enter your mobile number or email address.
- Complete the one-time-password (OTP) verification when prompted. On the India site, movie tickets may also be booked as a guest, but an account offers more account features.
- Choose a movie or event listing, then select the show and available seats. Read the date, time, venue, ticket conditions and any eligibility requirements before continuing.
- Review the order summary and total payable amount. Enter your real contact details so you can receive booking information, then proceed to the offered payment methods.
BookMyShow Stream is a separate option for renting or buying films, including bundles; it is not a confirmed monthly streaming subscription. If you are paying for Stream rather than a cinema ticket, review the rental or purchase terms shown for that title. Filmy Pass is an India movie-ticket discount pass, not a renewable ticket subscription: its stated benefit is ₹75 off each of three eligible transactions over 45 days, and it cannot be renewed. Check BookMyShow’s current pass page for its purchase price and eligibility before deciding whether to buy it.
Pay with your Coinepay virtual card
- At BookMyShow checkout, select an available card payment option. The card methods offered depend on the country site and transaction; seeing a card option does not establish that your particular card will be accepted.
- Enter the Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV exactly as shown in your Coinepay app or dashboard. If checkout asks for a cardholder name or billing address, enter your genuine details consistently.
- Check the final amount, including any displayed booking or convenience fee, before authorizing payment. Leave enough available funds to cover the full payable amount, not just the ticket’s face value.
- Complete any authentication prompt, such as an OTP or 3-D Secure challenge, if one appears. Keep the checkout open until BookMyShow confirms the result.
- Check for a confirmed booking and save its details. If payment appears to have gone through but no ticket is confirmed, investigate the booking status before trying again.
In India, BookMyShow’s payment information names Visa, Mastercard, American Express, select debit cards and Net Banking; its QuikPay help also describes UPI, gift vouchers and BookMyShow Cash. These are BookMyShow options, not a statement about your Coinepay card’s type or acceptance. Malaysia’s FAQ specifies Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards. Singapore’s detailed payment list names Visa, Mastercard and Amex debit or credit cards, plus PayNow online QR; another answer on that FAQ says only “Credit Card,” so verify the options offered at your checkout. Indonesia’s FAQ also lists JCB and local bank-transfer or ATM options through BCA, BNI, Mandiri, BRI and Permata Bank. Ask Coinepay support about a card-type requirement before purchasing if you are unsure whether your card meets it.
If your card is declined
BookMyShow does not use one universal checkout message for every failed payment. Use the result shown for your transaction and work through these checks rather than repeatedly submitting the same order:
- Insufficient available funds: Compare the full checkout total with the funds available in Coinepay. Ticket costs and added charges can make the amount due higher than the seat price. If you need information about funding your card, check the Coinepay app or contact support.
- Card details or billing mismatch: Re-enter the number, expiry and CVV carefully. BookMyShow support specifically identifies an incorrect expiry date or CVV as possible causes of rejection. If checkout requests a billing address, check it against your real billing details; do not use an invented address.
- Authentication did not complete: If an OTP, card-authentication password or 3-D Secure prompt appears, follow it within the time allowed. An incorrect OTP or password can cause payment to fail. If the challenge never appears or will not complete, ask Coinepay support to help check the card payment.
- Merchant region or card-type checks: For India, an international-issued card may fail even when its details and balance are correct; BookMyShow says exceptions apply to certain events. Other country sites specify their own accepted methods. Check the event’s checkout options and contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets the stated requirement. If it does not, choose another payment method that BookMyShow offers and that you legitimately hold.
If Coinepay shows a charge but BookMyShow has not confirmed an India booking, go to Profile → Purchase History to check its status. A charge alone is not a ticket. BookMyShow’s India support says deductions for failed bookings are refunded within 5–7 working days; contact BookMyShow about the booking and Coinepay support about the card transaction if the records do not reconcile. Avoid placing a duplicate order until you know whether the first one succeeded.
Manage your payment details and check the cancellation rules
On BookMyShow’s India website, saved payment options are under Profile → Accounts & Settings → Saved Payment Modes. Its help pages say a saved card can be deleted and replaced, but not edited. You can instead enter card details during an eligible checkout if that option is offered. Keep your CVV and any authentication codes private.
Review the policy before paying, especially for a time-sensitive event. In India, a cinema ticket can be cancelled only when the cinema permits it and the order offers Cancel booking; the cutoff can range from 20 minutes to 4 hours before showtime. The possible ticket-amount refund depends on cinema policy and may be 75%, 70% or 50%, to the original payment method or BMS Cash. India live-entertainment tickets generally cannot be cancelled through ordinary ticket cancellation, although List on Marketplace may be available for select non-cancellable BookMyShow Live events. Listing a ticket is not a guaranteed refund: the seller’s ticket is cancelled and a refund processed only if another customer buys it. Stream rentals and purchases cannot be cancelled or refunded, and Filmy Pass cannot be paused or cancelled. Malaysia and Singapore say confirmed ticket sales are final; Indonesia generally disallows customer cancellation or refunds after purchase, subject to its stated exceptions.

Will my Coinepay virtual card work for an India booking?
Do not assume it will. BookMyShow says Indian-issued cards are normally needed for India transactions, with exceptions for certain events. Contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets the requirement before buying.
Where can I replace a saved card on BookMyShow?
On the India website, go to Profile → Accounts & Settings → Saved Payment Modes. A saved card can be deleted and replaced, but not edited.
What if I was charged but did not receive a ticket?
For an India booking, check Profile → Purchase History before booking again. A charge does not confirm a ticket; BookMyShow says deductions for failed bookings are refunded within 5–7 working days.
