Plin is a widely used instant-payment function in Peru, letting people in the country send and receive Peruvian soles (S/) through their mobile-banking apps. If you need to support family, pay a freelancer or settle a bill in Peru from another country, Coinepay Global Remittance lets you send a cross-border transfer that lands in the recipient's Plin-linked account. This guide explains what Plin is, what details you need from your recipient, and how to complete and track the transfer.

What Plin is and where it is used

Peru's banking regulator describes Plin as an immediate-payment feature built into participating banks' mobile apps rather than a separate wallet you download. People affiliate a mobile phone number and a payment account inside their bank app, and that number becomes the "address" others use to pay them. Ordinary Plin transfers move Peruvian soles (S/), so a Coinepay transfer to a Plin recipient is paid out in local currency.

One number in Peru can be linked to both Plin and Yape, and the two networks are interoperable, so from the sender's side the destination is simply the recipient's registered mobile number. For a cross-border transfer you do not need the recipient's bank account number; Coinepay routes the payout to the mobile wallet associated with the number and name you provide.

What you need from your recipient

Before you start, ask the person in Peru for:

  • The mobile phone number they have registered to Plin (or the account ID Coinepay asks for), including the Peru country code.
  • Their full name exactly as it is registered with their bank or wallet. The name on the payout must match the receiving account; a mismatch is a common reason a transfer is held.
  • Confirmation of which wallet the number is linked to, since a number can be associated with both Plin and Yape. Ask the recipient to confirm the account is active and able to receive.

Double-check the number digit by digit. As with Plin itself, once a transfer is sent to the identifier you entered, it cannot simply be clawed back because you selected that recipient.

Before you send: register and verify

You send through the Coinepay app or the 24/7 self-service dashboard. If you have not used Coinepay yet, create an account, download the app for iOS or Android, and complete identity verification (KYC). Remittances are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations, so have your own real details ready. Coinepay sends to Peru along with every other country and region except those under comprehensive sanctions.

Step by step: send to a Plin account

  1. Open Global Remittance in the Coinepay app or dashboard and start a new transfer.
  2. Choose the destination country (Peru) and the payout method. Select the mobile wallet / Plin option so the funds are delivered in Peruvian soles to the recipient's registered number.
  3. Enter the recipient's details. Type the registered mobile number or account ID and the full name exactly as registered. Enter any extra information Coinepay requests.
  4. Enter the amount. You can usually enter either the amount you want to send or the amount you want the recipient to receive.
  5. Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the rate, the fees and the estimated arrival time clearly on screen before you confirm. Read these carefully and check the recipient name and number one more time.
  6. Confirm the transfer. You may be asked for the purpose of the transfer or the source of funds; provide accurate information to keep the transfer moving.
  7. Save your receipt and share the confirmation with your recipient if helpful.

How the recipient sees the money arrive

When the payout completes, the recipient sees the soles credited inside their bank or wallet app linked to Plin, in their account movements or Plin/Yape activity. Many recipients receive an in-app notification. If they do not see it immediately, Plin itself allows a short crediting window, and the person should check the mobile app of the bank or wallet tied to that number.

How fast does it arrive?

Transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and the destination country. The estimated arrival time for your specific transfer is shown in the Coinepay app before you confirm, and you can follow the real status afterwards.

Tracking your transfer

Every Coinepay transfer has status tracking. Open the transfer in the app or dashboard to see whether it is processing, under review or paid out. If anything is needed from you, such as an extra document, Coinepay will notify you there.

Recipient wallet limits and verification

Plin recipients receive into an account at a Peruvian bank or wallet, and those providers set their own limits and verification rules. In Peru, providers publish person-to-person Plin sending limits that have commonly been cited around S/500 per transfer and S/2,000 per day, though the exact figures vary by bank and by the destination wallet, and the provider shows the current limit inside the app. These caps apply to the recipient's local wallet, not to your Coinepay transfer. If a large amount might exceed what the recipient's wallet can hold or receive in a day, ask them to confirm their limits and verification level first, or plan the timing accordingly — never split a transfer or use a third party to get around checks or limits.

Troubleshooting

Wrong number or wrong contact

Because the money follows the identifier you enter, the best safeguard is to verify the number and the displayed recipient name before confirming. If you realize a mistake after confirming, contact Coinepay support immediately with your transfer reference; recovery is not guaranteed once funds reach the wrong account.

Name mismatch

If the recipient name does not match the receiving account, the payout can be delayed or returned. Ask the recipient for the exact name on their bank or wallet profile and make sure it matches what you entered.

Wallet limit reached

If the recipient has already hit their per-transfer or daily receiving limit, the funds may not credit until the limit resets. Confirm their limits with their provider and try again later rather than sending through another route.

Unverified or inactive wallet

A number that is not properly affiliated with Plin, or an account at a lower verification level, may be unable to receive. Ask the recipient to open their bank app, confirm their number is affiliated and their account is active, and upgrade their verification if their provider requires it.

Money not showing up

Have the recipient check the app of the specific bank or wallet linked to their number, including their account movements. A contact added only through a messaging app may not appear until it syncs with the phone's contacts. If the status in Coinepay shows the payout as sent but it still does not appear, contact support with your reference.

Compliance review

Transfers are screened against sanctions lists and may be reviewed under local regulations. Coinepay may ask for documents such as the purpose or source of funds. Respond promptly and accurately; providing clear information is the fastest way to clear a review.

FAQ

What currency does the recipient receive?

Plin payouts in Peru are delivered in Peruvian soles (S/). Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm, so you can see the soles amount the recipient will receive.

How fast will the money reach the Plin account?

Transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and destination country. Coinepay shows an estimated arrival time before you confirm and lets you track the status afterwards.

What if I entered the wrong number?

Always check the number and the displayed recipient name before confirming, since funds follow the identifier you enter. If you confirmed a mistake, contact Coinepay support right away with your transfer reference, though recovery cannot be guaranteed once funds reach the account.

Why might the transfer be held for review?

All transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may ask for documents such as the purpose or source of funds. Provide accurate information promptly to clear the review.
