Coinepay Global Remittance supports transfers to Brazil. You can set up a transfer in the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard, review the exchange rate and fees before confirming, and track its status afterward. This guide explains which receiving details to request for a bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup, and what to check if a transfer is delayed or returned.

Before you start: sender and recipient details

Register for a Coinepay account and complete identity verification before sending. Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions, and it screens customers and counterparties against sanctions lists. It may request documents explaining the purpose of a transfer or the source of funds.

Ask the recipient for their full legal name as it appears on their bank, wallet or identification records. Also establish what the payment is for and collect the details for the payout method you intend to select. Brazil’s local currency is the Brazilian real (BRL). Check the currency and payout choices displayed for your transfer rather than assuming that every method is available for every recipient.

Use real, accurate information for both parties. An abbreviated name, mistyped tax ID or account number can prevent a payout. If you are unsure which bank identifiers to enter, ask the recipient to obtain receiving instructions from their bank or payment provider before you confirm.

Choose how the recipient will receive money in Brazil

Bank account deposit

For a local BRL bank deposit, be ready to provide the recipient’s full legal name, bank name, account number and account type, along with the branch code, called the agência, and the bank’s local code. A receiving provider may also require the recipient’s Brazilian tax identifier: an 11-digit CPF for an individual or a 14-digit CNPJ for a business. Ask the recipient to copy these details from their bank’s records; requirements can differ by payout route.

Do not treat a local bank payout and a direct international bank transfer as the same form. If the transfer instructions call for an international bank route, the receiving bank may provide an IBAN and SWIFT/BIC instead. A Brazilian IBAN has 29 characters and begins with BR; it incorporates bank, branch and account identifiers. Enter the IBAN or SWIFT/BIC only where the selected route requests it. A domestic BRL or Pix receiving account may not accept a direct international SWIFT payment, so the recipient should confirm the correct instructions with their provider.

Mobile wallet or payment account

Coinepay supports mobile-wallet payouts as a remittance method. In Brazil, recipients may use payment accounts or wallet services such as PicPay or Mercado Pago; whether a particular account can receive your transfer depends on the payout choices shown in Coinepay and the recipient provider’s rules. Have the recipient confirm that their account is active and eligible to receive the type of payment offered. Enter the account identifier requested in the transfer form, which may be a registered phone number or other wallet detail.

Pix is Brazil’s local payment rail, not an international SWIFT transfer. Where a Pix-based payout is offered, the recipient may be asked for a registered Pix key instead of full bank-account details. A key can be a CPF or CNPJ, mobile number, email address or random key. Confirm with the recipient which key is registered to the intended account, and check the recipient information displayed before confirming. Do not substitute a Pix key for an IBAN or bank account number in a form that requests those details.

Cash pickup

If cash pickup is offered for the transfer, select an available pickup option in Coinepay and enter the recipient’s legal name exactly as shown on their official photo identification. The recipient should check the pickup instructions and location requirements before travelling. Cash pickup commonly requires the recipient to present official photo identification and a transfer or tracking reference. Share that reference privately with the intended recipient, and follow the instructions shown for the selected payout.

How to send money to Brazil step by step

  1. Sign in and start a transfer. Open the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard and choose to send money. If you have not completed identity verification, follow the account prompts first.
  2. Select Brazil and the currency. Choose Brazil as the destination. Review the available sending and receiving currencies; select BRL as the receiving currency if that is how your recipient should be paid.
  3. Select a payout method and enter the recipient. Choose from the bank deposit, mobile wallet or cash pickup options displayed for your transfer. Enter the recipient’s full legal name and the bank identifiers, wallet details or pickup information requested on screen. Match all details to the recipient’s own records.
  4. Review before you confirm. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm a transfer. Check the amount the recipient is shown to receive, the currency, the payout method and every recipient detail. If a required field is unclear, pause and ask the recipient or their provider for the correct information.
  5. Confirm and track. Confirm the transfer only when the information is correct. Use the transfer’s status tracking in Coinepay to follow its progress, and keep the reference available if you need to contact support.

What the recipient may need to do

For a bank or payment-account payout, the recipient should make sure their account is open and able to receive the selected type of payment. They may need to give their receiving institution information about the payment’s purpose or provide supporting documents. In a conventional foreign-exchange remittance, an institution authorized to handle exchange in Brazil processes the foreign currency before BRL becomes available in the recipient’s account.

The recipient should retain records showing what the money represents, such as a personal transfer, payment for services or business transaction. The tax treatment depends on the nature of the receipt, not simply on the fact that it came from abroad. For example, foreign-source income and gifts can have different reporting treatment. If the recipient is uncertain about Brazilian tax obligations, they should seek qualified local advice.

For cash pickup, the recipient should wait for the applicable pickup instructions and bring the identification and reference specified for that payout. For a wallet or Pix-based payout, they should verify that the key or account details they supplied point to their own eligible account.

Troubleshooting a delayed or returned transfer

  • Wrong recipient details: Compare the name, CPF or CNPJ if requested, bank and branch codes, account number and account type with the recipient’s records. For a wallet or Pix payout, verify the registered key or account identifier. If you have already confirmed the transfer, contact Coinepay support rather than assuming you can edit an in-progress payment.
  • Compliance review: Check Coinepay for a request for identity, transaction-purpose or source-of-funds documents. The recipient’s institution may also request information. Provide accurate documents through the requested channel; do not send a replacement transfer to avoid a review.
  • Processing delay: Check the transfer status first. Foreign-exchange processing, receiving-bank checks and local payout processing can affect when funds become available. If the status does not explain the issue, ask support to review the transfer using its reference.
  • Returned or failed payout: A closed, frozen or restricted receiving account, or a mismatch in recipient details, can prevent payment. Check the return status and any instructions in Coinepay, then confirm the correct receiving details with the recipient before taking further action.

If you are choosing between a local bank payout, a wallet or an international bank route, use the fields and instructions shown for the selected Coinepay transfer. You can also use the iOS app, Android app or dashboard to check its status. When the correct Brazil receiving details are unclear, confirm them before sending rather than guessing.

FAQ

What bank details do I need to send money to Brazil?

For a local bank payout, you may need the recipient’s legal name, bank and branch codes, account number and type, and CPF or CNPJ. An international bank route may instead request the bank’s IBAN and SWIFT/BIC. Follow the fields shown for your selected transfer.

Can I send to a Pix key instead of a bank account?

If a Pix-based payout is offered in your transfer flow, it may accept the recipient’s registered CPF or CNPJ, phone number, email address or random key. Check that the key belongs to the intended recipient before confirming.

Can the recipient collect cash in Brazil?

Choose cash pickup if it is offered for your transfer. The recipient should follow the pickup instructions and be prepared to show official photo identification and the transfer reference.

What should I do if my transfer to Brazil is delayed or returned?

Check its status in Coinepay, verify the recipient’s details, and respond to any document request. Contact Coinepay support with the transfer reference if you need help understanding a delay or return.
