You can start a Super Duolingo subscription through Duolingo’s website or app, but the checkout and billing controls depend on where you subscribe. This guide explains how to prepare a Coinepay virtual card, review the offer before paying, and handle common payment problems without assuming that a particular checkout will accept your card.

Know which Super offer you are buying

Duolingo’s public sign-up page shows Free, Super, and Super Family. Super Family covers up to six accounts: the plan manager pays one annual fee and can invite up to five other people. Duolingo also identifies Duolingo Max as a separate paid tier, so check the plan name on your own offer rather than assuming every paid option is Super.

Prices vary by region, platform, and offer. Check Duolingo’s official pricing page and, most importantly, the price, currency, billing period, and renewal terms displayed at your checkout. A trial is not necessarily the same length for everyone: Duolingo’s public Super page advertises one week, while its US iOS listing advertises 14 days. The terms attached to the offer you actually select govern your purchase.

What you need before checkout

  • A Duolingo account: Sign in to the account that should receive Super, or create one through Duolingo’s normal sign-up flow. For Super Family, decide which account will manage and pay for the plan.
  • A Coinepay account and virtual card: Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC) before using card services. Once your card is available, find its number, expiry date, and CVV in the Coinepay app or 24/7 self-service dashboard.
  • Enough available funds: Review the total shown at checkout, including any applicable taxes, and check your available funds in Coinepay. If you are starting a trial, also plan for the charge shown in the trial’s renewal terms.
  • Your real billing details: Use your own name and accurate billing information. Payment platforms may check those details against the card or payment profile. Do not change your country or address to get around an offer’s regional rules.

Check the payment methods offered by the specific Duolingo checkout you use. A website card form, Apple in-app purchase, and Google Play purchase are different payment routes; seeing an option on one does not establish that it is available on another. If you need to confirm a card requirement before buying, contact Coinepay support.

How to subscribe on Duolingo’s website

  1. Sign in to Duolingo. Open Duolingo’s official Super sign-up page or navigate to the upgrade offer from your account. If you are new, create your Duolingo account first.
  2. Choose the right plan. Select Super or Super Family if offered. For a family purchase, confirm that you are using the account intended to pay and manage invitations.
  3. Read the offer before continuing. Check whether it starts with a trial, when a charge would occur, the subscription period, the total payable, and the renewal terms. Do not rely on a trial length or price you saw for someone else’s account.
  4. Enter your card if card payment is offered. Copy the number, expiry date, and CVV from your Coinepay card into the checkout fields. Enter your real billing details, and review them for typing errors before submitting.
  5. Complete any payment verification. Follow the instructions presented by the checkout and any card-authentication prompt. Wait for a clear purchase confirmation before trying again; repeated submissions could create confusion about which attempt succeeded.
  6. Check the result. Look for a confirmation and verify the subscription status in your Duolingo account. Save the receipt and the displayed renewal date for your records.

Duolingo may change the account-specific plan and payment screens, so follow the labels displayed to you rather than expecting every account to show an identical sequence. For a web-billed subscription, sign in and follow Duolingo’s account instructions when you later need to change or end it.

How to pay through the Duolingo app

A free user can start a Super upgrade in the Duolingo app. Sign in, open the Super offer shown in your app, select the available plan, and review the trial and recurring-payment terms. Before confirming, note whether the payment screen is run by Apple or Google Play: that store will handle the purchase and its billing settings.

To try your Coinepay card for an iPhone purchase, add it through iPhone Settings → your name → Payment & Shipping, then follow the payment choices presented by Apple at checkout. For a Google Play purchase, choose or add a payment method in the Play checkout if that option is available. Store payment methods vary by country and account; neither route guarantees acceptance of a particular card. Confirm the plan and any trial terms on the final store screen before approving the purchase.

What to check if the card is declined

A failed payment can occur at the card, billing-profile, store, or merchant-checkout stage. An error on the screen is a starting point, not a certain diagnosis. Record its exact wording and check the following before attempting payment again:

Possible issuePractical next step
Insufficient available fundsCompare your Coinepay available funds with the full amount shown at checkout. If funds are insufficient, add funds through the options available in your Coinepay account before retrying.
Billing address or profile mismatchCheck your name, address, postal or ZIP code, card number, expiry date, and CVV for errors. On Google Play, a mismatched billing ZIP code or a payment profile needing verification can prevent a purchase.
3-D Secure or another verification stepIf checkout asks you to authenticate, complete the prompt as displayed. If it expires or fails, return to checkout and follow any retry instructions. Ask Coinepay support to investigate if you cannot complete card verification.
Merchant or store region checksCheck that your actual account country, billing details, and selected store support the purchase. Do not use a false address or another person’s account to bypass a restriction.
Expired card or payment restrictionRecheck the expiry date and any notice from the store or Coinepay. If the reason is unclear, contact the party handling that payment with the time and error shown.

For an Apple- or Google-billed purchase, check the relevant store’s payment settings and purchase messages. For a web checkout issue, contact Duolingo about the order or offer and Coinepay about a card-side decline. Share the error text and approximate transaction time, but do not send your full card number or CVV in a support message.

Manage renewal, cancellation, and refunds

Periodic Duolingo subscriptions renew for an equivalent period until ended. Deleting your Duolingo account alone does not cancel a subscription. Check your receipt to identify who billed you, then use that billing route:

  • Apple: Go to iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Duolingo to manage or cancel. To change the card on your Apple account, use Settings → your name → Payment & Shipping.
  • Google Play: Open Google Play subscriptions, select Duolingo, and cancel there. For a payment-method change, use Manage → Update. Uninstalling the app does not cancel the subscription.
  • Duolingo website: Sign in and follow the subscription instructions in your account to change or end web billing.

For the one-week trial advertised on Duolingo’s public Super page, cancellation must occur at least 24 hours before day seven to avoid the stated charge. An extended-trial promotion separately calls for cancellation at least 24 hours before its end. Always follow your own offer’s deadline rather than assuming either example applies to you.

Duolingo’s general policy does not provide refunds or credits for partially used membership periods unless local law requires otherwise; after cancellation, paid access continues until the current period ends. Apple and Google handle refund decisions for purchases billed through their stores. For a web purchase, Duolingo directs users to sign in, open the Super icon, scroll down, and contact Duolingo support to request a refund review.

Keep payment and account details accurate

Use the account, country, and billing details that genuinely belong to you. Availability and payment options can differ by jurisdiction, and a virtual card does not override Duolingo’s or a store’s eligibility checks. Coinepay card services require identity verification, and some Coinepay services are not available in every jurisdiction. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions. If you are unsure which Coinepay account option or card detail to use, check the Coinepay dashboard or contact support before submitting payment.

FAQ

Can I use a Coinepay virtual card for a Super Duolingo trial?

You can enter it if your checkout offers card payment, but acceptance is determined at checkout. Review your specific trial length, charge date, and cancellation deadline before confirming.

Why was my Duolingo Super payment declined when I have funds?

Funds are only one possible factor. Check your billing details, card expiry, verification prompts, and any store or region message; contact Coinepay support about a card-side decline.

Where do I cancel Super Duolingo?

Use the billing route on your receipt: iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Duolingo for Apple, Google Play subscriptions for Google Play, or your Duolingo account instructions for web billing.

Does deleting my Duolingo account cancel Super?

No. Duolingo says account deletion alone does not end a subscription. Cancel through the service that bills you.
