Microsoft's consumer AI assistant, once widely known as Bing Copilot and now branded Microsoft Copilot, offers a limited free tier plus paid AI benefits bundled into Microsoft 365 subscriptions. If you want the paid benefits, you pay through Microsoft's checkout with a card. This guide shows how to prepare a Coinepay virtual card, complete the purchase, and fix the most common reasons a card is declined.
What you need before you start
Paying for Copilot takes just a few minutes once you have everything ready:
- A Microsoft account (you can create one during checkout).
- A Coinepay virtual card with its card number, expiry date and CVV. After you register with Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC), you can create a card and view these details instantly in the Coinepay app.
- Enough balance on the card to cover the plan you choose, plus any applicable tax.
- Your real billing name and address, matching the details on your Coinepay account.
Download the Coinepay app from the App Store or Google Play to manage your card on the go.
Copilot plans and prices
Microsoft lists a free version plus paid Copilot benefits inside Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, Premium and Pro. The paid AI benefits belong to the subscription owner, even when a Family, Premium or Pro plan is shared, and usage limits differ by plan.
At the time of writing (October 2026), published monthly prices included, for example: in the United States, Personal $9.99 (or $99.99/year), Family $12.99 (or $129.99/year), Premium $19.99 (or $199.99/year) and Pro $99.99 (monthly billing only); in the United Kingdom, Personal £8.49, Family £10.49, Premium £18.99 and Pro £94.99; in India, Personal ₹689, Family ₹819, Premium ₹1,999 and Pro ₹9,999. Prices and tax treatment vary by region, so always confirm the current figure on Microsoft's official Copilot pricing page for your country before you buy.
Note: On October 1, 2025 Microsoft introduced Microsoft 365 Premium and stopped selling the separate Copilot Pro subscription. An older Copilot Pro store page may still appear online, so treat it as outdated for new purchases. Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat and Microsoft 365 Copilot Business are separate work offerings, not consumer Copilot subscriptions.
Step-by-step: subscribe with your Coinepay card
- Create and fund your Coinepay card. In the Coinepay app, issue a virtual card and make sure it has enough balance for the plan and any tax.
- Open the official Copilot pricing page for your region on microsoft.com and choose a plan. Select Buy now, or start an available trial if one is offered for your plan and region.
- Sign in or create a Microsoft account. Microsoft Store checkout asks you to sign in or register before you can place the order.
- Add your payment method. At checkout, choose to add a card and enter your Coinepay card number, expiry date, CVV and billing address. Microsoft Store checkout lists credit card, debit card, PayPal and other locally available options; not every method works in every region. You can also add a card ahead of time at account.microsoft.com under Payment options.
- Review and place the order. Check the plan, billing cycle and total, then confirm. If your bank or card prompts a confirmation step, approve it (see 3-D Secure below).
- Confirm the subscription is active. Go to account.microsoft.com/services to see your subscription and its next billing date.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel. If you start a trial that requires payment details, the card on file is charged when the trial ends unless you turn off recurring billing first.
Troubleshooting a declined card
Microsoft lists several common payment obstacles, including incorrect or outdated card details, an overdue subscription balance, account suspension, blocked payment-confirmation windows and bank identity checks. Work through the causes below.
Insufficient balance
A virtual card is only charged successfully if it holds enough to cover the full amount plus tax. Check your available balance in the Coinepay app and top up if needed, then retry. Remember that an annual plan (for example Personal or Family billed yearly) charges the full year at once.
Billing address mismatch
If the billing address at Microsoft checkout does not match what your card issuer expects, the payment can be rejected. Enter the billing details exactly as they appear on your Coinepay account. Verify the postal code, country and name carefully before resubmitting.
3-D Secure / confirmation window
Some transactions trigger an extra verification step. If the confirmation window is blocked or closed too soon, the charge fails. Keep the Coinepay app handy to approve any prompt, allow pop-ups in your browser, and avoid closing the checkout tab until the purchase completes.
Merchant region checks
Microsoft ties purchases to the country set on your Microsoft account, and warns that region-linked purchases may not work elsewhere and that account funds do not transfer between regions. Adding a payment method for another country requires changing the account country first. Make sure your Microsoft account country, your billing details and the pricing page you are using all line up. Use your real details rather than trying to work around a regional restriction.
Generic "something went wrong" error
In one user report about the former Copilot Pro checkout, the message shown was "Sorry, something went wrong" followed by "Something happened on our end. Waiting a bit might help." The cause was not confirmed. If you hit a vague error, wait a little, refresh, and try again; if it persists, try adding the card at account.microsoft.com first, then purchasing.
Card-type acceptance
Microsoft's general guidance does not publish a guaranteed acceptance list for every card type at consumer Copilot checkout, so acceptance can depend on the specific checkout and region. If your card is declined for a reason you cannot resolve, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card is set up correctly before you try again. You can also reach the team via Telegram.
Managing, cancelling and refunds
For subscriptions bought directly from Microsoft, go to account.microsoft.com/services and select Manage to view the next billing date, change your plan, update the payment method or cancel. To stop future charges, choose Manage → Cancel; if you instead see Turn on recurring billing, Microsoft says the subscription is already set to expire without another automatic charge.
Purchases made through the Apple App Store, Google Play or a retailer are billed and managed by those sellers, not through Microsoft's direct controls.
Refund eligibility is determined during cancellation and not every cancellation yields a refund. For direct purchases, Microsoft says an initial-purchase refund may be available if you cancel within 30 days or before the first renewal, whichever comes first; a refund of the latest renewal charge is available for cancellation within 30 days, once per account per subscription product. For Premium and Pro, Microsoft's refund policy lists prorated refunds on cancellation at any time in certain regions (including Canada, Denmark, France, Israel, South Korea and Türkiye) and a 14-day initial-purchase window elsewhere.
A note on availability
Microsoft says Copilot AI features are unavailable in China and Macao SAR, and trial, feature and payment availability vary by region. Coinepay services are also not available in every jurisdiction; some virtual-asset-related services are not available to residents of mainland China. Check the current terms for your location in the Coinepay app, and always use your real identity and billing details at checkout.

FAQ
Which Copilot plan should I buy with my Coinepay card?
Microsoft offers paid Copilot benefits in Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, Premium and Pro, plus a free tier. Pick the plan whose features and usage limits fit your needs, and confirm the current price for your country on Microsoft's official pricing page before paying.
Why was my card declined at Microsoft checkout?
Common causes are insufficient balance, a billing address that doesn't match your card details, an unapproved 3-D Secure confirmation, or a region mismatch between your Microsoft account country and your card. Fix the specific issue and retry, or contact Coinepay support if it persists.
Does Microsoft accept virtual cards for Copilot?
Microsoft Store checkout lists credit and debit cards, PayPal and other locally available options, but does not publish a guaranteed acceptance list for every card type at consumer Copilot checkout. Acceptance can vary by region, so confirm your Coinepay card is set up correctly with support before you buy.
How do I cancel my Copilot subscription?
For direct purchases, go to account.microsoft.com/services and choose Manage then Cancel. If you see Turn on recurring billing instead, Microsoft says the subscription is already set to expire without another charge. Purchases made through app stores are cancelled with those sellers.
Can I get a refund after subscribing?
Eligibility is decided during cancellation and not every cancellation qualifies. Microsoft describes an initial-purchase refund window of 30 days or before the first renewal, and a 30-day window for the latest renewal charge; Premium and Pro have different prorated rules in certain regions. Check Microsoft's official refund policy.
