You can send money to Singapore with Coinepay Global Remittance. Before starting, ask your recipient how they want to receive the funds and collect the details for that method. This guide explains the Singapore-specific information to check, how to review a transfer before confirming it, and what to do if it does not proceed as expected.

What you need before sending

You need a Coinepay account that has completed identity verification, plus your recipient’s full legal name and the receiving details for your chosen payout method. Enter the name as it appears on the recipient’s bank account, wallet account or identity document, as applicable. If you are paying a business, use the registered recipient details provided by that business rather than an employee’s personal details.

Singapore’s local currency is the Singapore dollar (SGD). Choose the destination and available payout currency in the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app, then check the displayed exchange rate, fees and recipient amount before confirming. Available receiving methods and the information requested can depend on the transfer route; use the fields shown in the app and verify the details with your recipient.

Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and applicable local regulations. Coinepay may ask for documents or information about the payment’s purpose or source of funds. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions.

Choose a payout method in Singapore

Bank account deposit

For a deposit to a Singapore bank account, ask for the recipient’s full name as held by the bank, account number and bank name. A conventional international bank transfer may also require the bank’s address and SWIFT/BIC. Check the receiving bank’s instructions rather than selecting a code from a search result: a wrong account number or SWIFT/BIC can delay, reject or misdirect a payment.

Singapore account numbers do not have one universal length. For example, DBS and POSB accounts can have different account-number lengths. Singapore receiving accounts generally use an account number, not a Singapore IBAN. Do not substitute an IBAN, an Indian IFSC or a Mexican CLABE for the recipient bank’s Singapore instructions.

Whether you need a local bank or branch code depends on the receiving route and bank. Local-clearing details may request these codes, while a conventional international transfer may request a SWIFT/BIC instead. DBS, for example, says its branch name and code are not needed for an overseas transfer. For an OCBC account used with local FAST transfers, the first three digits form the branch code and remain part of the full account number. Have the recipient confirm the exact format with their bank, particularly if the account number shown in their banking app includes spaces or separators.

Mobile wallet or local account payout

If a mobile-wallet or local-account option appears for your Singapore transfer in Coinepay, select the specific method shown and enter the identifier it requests. The recipient needs an active, eligible account linked to those details. Do not assume that a phone number alone works for every wallet or transfer route.

PayNow is a Singapore local payment method that can credit participating bank or e-wallet accounts in SGD. Its identifiers can include a registered mobile number, NRIC/FIN or virtual payment address. A PayNow identifier is not a SWIFT/BIC or a general-purpose address for international bank transfers. Some participating providers support cross-border PayNow connections, including a link with India’s UPI, but that does not mean every sender or payout provider can use those connections.

Wallet receiving instructions vary. For example, Singtel Dash describes receiving through a PayNow virtual payment address or FAST account number. Other services may provide local account details or eligible SGD SWIFT details instead. Ask the recipient to check their wallet’s current receiving instructions, and use a wallet or PayNow route only if it is offered for your transfer in the Coinepay app. Do not enter wallet details into bank-transfer fields unless the receiving service expressly instructs you to do so.

Cash pickup

Cash pickup is another type of payout supported by Coinepay. If it is offered for your Singapore transfer, select the available pickup option and follow the app’s instructions for the recipient’s legal name and any other required details. Before confirming, make sure the recipient can use the location or pickup arrangement shown.

Tell the recipient to follow the pickup instructions provided for that transfer and bring an accepted identity document matching the name you entered. Share any collection reference only through a secure channel with the intended recipient. Pickup requirements can differ by provider and location, so rely on the instructions displayed for the selected option rather than assuming that bank or wallet details are needed.

How to send money to Singapore

  1. Sign in and start a transfer. Use the Coinepay self-service dashboard or mobile app. If you do not yet have an account, register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using the service.
  2. Select Singapore and the currency. Choose Singapore as the destination, then select the payout currency available for the route you want. If the recipient expects SGD, check that the receiving method and currency you selected match their instructions.
  3. Choose the payout method. Select an available bank deposit, mobile-wallet or cash-pickup option. Enter the recipient’s full legal name and the details requested for that method. For a bank deposit, confirm the account number and any bank code or SWIFT/BIC against the recipient bank’s instructions.
  4. Review the transfer. Check the recipient, payout method, currency and amount carefully. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm. If something does not match what the recipient supplied, go back and correct it before proceeding.
  5. Confirm and track. Submit the transfer only when the details are correct. Follow its status in Coinepay’s dashboard or app, and keep the transfer information handy in case you need to contact support or answer a request for documents.

What the recipient should check

Ask the recipient to confirm that their bank or wallet can receive the chosen currency through the selected route. A receiving service may have its own rules for incoming payments; for instance, some account details accept SGD through SWIFT only when the payment is sent in SGD. If the recipient provides account details from a wallet or payment service, they should follow that service’s instructions for that particular set of details.

The recipient should also check how their bank, wallet or pickup provider identifies incoming funds and whether it requests supporting information. A Singapore bank may conduct its own checks before crediting a payment. For business payments, retain invoices and accurate payment descriptions so the recipient can identify what the money is for.

Tax treatment depends on what the funds represent, not simply on the fact that they arrived from overseas. For individuals, overseas income received in Singapore is generally not taxable as income, but exceptions apply. For companies, foreign income received in Singapore may be taxable, subject to applicable exemptions or relief. The recipient should consult current Singapore tax guidance or a qualified adviser for their circumstances. Rules about reporting physical cash or bearer instruments should not be mistaken for a general threshold for electronic transfers.

Troubleshooting a Singapore transfer

  • Recipient details are wrong. If you notice an incorrect name, account number, code or wallet identifier after confirming, contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer details. Do not assume a submitted payment can be edited or recovered. Ask the recipient to verify the correct instructions before attempting another transfer.
  • The transfer is under review. Check its status and respond to any request for identity documents, payment-purpose information or source-of-funds evidence. The receiving institution may also carry out checks. Provide accurate documents rather than asking someone else to receive the payment on your behalf.
  • The recipient has not received it. Check the status in Coinepay first, then confirm that the recipient is looking in the correct bank, wallet or pickup channel. Bank processing cut-offs, non-working days, currency conversion, intermediary routing and settlement can affect when funds appear. If the status needs clarification, contact support with the transfer information.
  • The transfer is returned. A receiving bank or payment service may reject details it cannot match or a payment that does not meet its receiving rules. Check the status and any reason provided, confirm the correct route and currency with the recipient, and ask support what to do before sending again.

For route availability or an issue with a specific transfer, check the Coinepay app or contact support. Always use your real identity and accurate recipient details, and complete any checks requested for the payment.

FAQ

Does a Singapore recipient need an IBAN?

Generally, no. Singapore bank recipients usually provide an account number and the bank details required for the selected route, which may include a SWIFT/BIC. Confirm the exact instructions with the receiving bank.

Can I send to a Singapore PayNow number?

Use a PayNow identifier only if an appropriate route is offered for your transfer in Coinepay. The recipient must have that identifier registered to an eligible participating account.

Can the recipient collect cash instead of using a bank account?

Choose cash pickup if it appears as an available option for your Singapore transfer. Follow the displayed pickup instructions and enter the recipient’s legal name accurately.

What if I entered the wrong Singapore bank account number?

Contact Coinepay support promptly with the transfer details. A submitted transfer may not be editable; confirm the correct receiving instructions before taking further action.

Where can I see the exchange rate and fees?

Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees in the dashboard or app before you confirm the transfer.
