N26 is a European mobile bank, and plenty of people living overseas need to send money to a friend, family member or supplier who banks with it. This guide explains exactly what N26 is, what details you need to collect from your recipient, and how to send a cross-border transfer to a N26 account using Coinepay Global Remittance. Before you start, make sure you have registered and completed identity verification (KYC) in the Coinepay app, available on iOS and Google Play.
Is N26 a mobile wallet or a bank account?
It helps to be clear here. N26 is a licensed bank, not a stored-balance mobile wallet like GCash or M-Pesa. Each N26 customer has a full euro account with an IBAN, and money arrives as a bank account deposit into that account. N26 accounts are opened in euro and are offered in European markets such as Germany, France and Spain; N26 no longer offers accounts in the United States, so do not treat these steps as applicable to a former US N26 account.
N26 does have in-app, phone-number payment features — Wero, MoneyBeam and, in Spain, Bizum — but these are tools N26 customers use to pay other participating-bank or N26 users within Europe. They are not how someone outside the network tops up a N26 account from abroad. For an international transfer from another country, the reliable route is a deposit to the recipient's N26 IBAN, which is the bank-deposit payout Coinepay supports.
What you need from your recipient
Ask the person who holds the N26 account to send you these details, copied directly from their N26 app so there are no typos:
- Full name exactly as registered with N26 — spelling and order must match their account.
- IBAN of their N26 account (a German account typically starts with DE, a French one with FR, a Spanish one with ES).
- BIC/SWIFT code if Coinepay asks for it for the payout.
- Country where the account was opened and the account currency (euro).
A name that does not match the IBAN is the single most common reason a deposit is delayed or returned, so double-check it before you continue. Under EU rules, euro instant transfers now include a free check of the payee's name against the account, which makes an exact-match name even more important.
Step by step: send to a N26 account with Coinepay
- Open Coinepay and start a transfer. Go to Global Remittance in the dashboard or mobile app and choose to send money.
- Choose the destination country and currency. Select the country where the N26 account was opened (for example Germany, France or Spain) and euro (EUR) as the payout currency.
- Select the payout method. Choose bank account deposit, which delivers money into the recipient's N26 IBAN. If a wallet option is shown for the destination, remember that N26 funds settle into a bank account, so bank deposit is the correct choice.
- Enter the recipient's details. Add the full name exactly as registered, the IBAN and any BIC the form requests. Take care with each character.
- Enter the amount and review the quote. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees clearly before you confirm, along with the amount the recipient will receive and an estimated arrival time for this route.
- Add the purpose if asked. You may be prompted for the purpose of the transfer or your source of funds — this is part of standard compliance screening.
- Confirm. Authorise the transfer with your Coinepay security method. Once confirmed, you can track its status in the app.
How fast does it arrive and how does the recipient see it?
Coinepay transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and the destination country; the estimate shown in the app before you confirm is your best guide. When the deposit lands, your recipient sees it as an incoming credit in their N26 account, visible in the app's transaction list with the amount and sender reference. They do not need to accept it or install anything extra — it simply appears in their euro balance.
For context, N26's own instant features behave differently: a Wero payment reaches the recipient's bank account in under 10 seconds within Europe, and MoneyBeam moves money instantly between N26 users. Those are domestic/European tools, not the cross-border route you are using, but they explain why your recipient may be used to seeing funds appear almost immediately once an inbound transfer clears.
N26 account limits and verification
Your recipient's ability to receive and then use the money depends on their own N26 verification and limits, not on Coinepay. A few figures from N26's published rules, which can change — point your recipient to N26's own pages to confirm:
- N26's default outgoing SEPA Instant limit is €10,000 per day, adjustable in-app as a daily or per-transaction limit.
- Wero sending is capped at €2,500 per day (N26's Wero product page also states €2,500 per transaction), and Wero is currently offered to accounts opened in Germany, or in France with a DE or FR IBAN.
- MoneyBeam has a maximum of €5,000 per transaction and per 24 hours.
- Bizum (Spain only, needs an ES IBAN) allows €0.50–€500 per transaction, €2,000 per day and €5,000 sent per month.
These are mostly sending limits for the recipient's onward payments; what matters for you is that the N26 account is fully opened and verified so it can receive an inbound deposit.
Troubleshooting
Wrong number or wrong IBAN
If you entered the IBAN incorrectly, the bank usually rejects or returns the deposit. With N26's own Wero, a completed payment cannot be cancelled, so the same caution applies to any transfer: verify the recipient details on screen before confirming. If funds were sent to the wrong account, contact Coinepay support immediately and ask the recipient to help trace it.
Name mismatch
If the name does not match the IBAN, the payee check or the receiving bank may flag or return the deposit. Ask your recipient to confirm the exact spelling shown in their N26 profile and send again if needed.
Account limit reached
Large inbound amounts can interact with the recipient's N26 limits. If something is held, your recipient can review and adjust their limits in the N26 app or contact N26.
Unverified or restricted account
An N26 account that has not finished verification may not accept the deposit. Ask the recipient to complete N26's identity steps before you resend.
Compliance review
Every Coinepay transfer is subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may ask for documents such as the purpose or source of funds; providing them promptly is the fastest way to clear a review. Coinepay sends to every country and region except those under comprehensive sanctions, and never to sanctioned persons. Do not split a transfer or route it through a third party to avoid checks.

FAQ
Is N26 a mobile wallet I can send to directly?
No. N26 is a European bank with full euro accounts and IBANs. Money arrives as a bank account deposit, so in Coinepay you choose the bank-deposit payout and enter the recipient's N26 IBAN rather than a wallet phone number.
What details do I need to send money to a N26 account?
You need the recipient's full name exactly as registered with N26, their N26 IBAN, any BIC the form requests, and the country and currency (euro) of the account. Copy these from the N26 app to avoid typos.
How long does a transfer to N26 take?
Coinepay transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and destination country. The estimated arrival time is shown in the app before you confirm.
Will I see the fees and exchange rate before sending?
Yes. Coinepay shows the exchange rate, fees and the amount your recipient will receive clearly before you confirm the transfer, so you can review everything first.
Can I send to a former US N26 account?
No. N26 no longer offers accounts in the United States and says former US accounts have closed. These steps apply to N26 accounts opened in European markets such as Germany, France or Spain.
