BPay is the mobile wallet in Bahrain operated by Arab Financial Services (AFS). It is denominated in Bahraini dinars (BHD) and is used by Bahrain residents to hold a balance, pay and send money between BPay accounts. If you have family, friends or a supplier in Bahrain who uses BPay, this guide explains how to send money to them from abroad with Coinepay Global Remittance, what details you need, and what to do if something goes wrong.
Note that BPay (Bahrain) is a different service from Australia's BPAY bill-payment scheme. This article is only about the AFS wallet in Bahrain.
Before you start: what BPay is and what to confirm
AFS describes BPay's internal "Send Money" feature as a closed-loop person-to-person transfer between two BPay accounts. Because of that, a direct cross-border payout into a BPay wallet is not something every remittance provider offers. Before you set up a transfer, open the Coinepay app and check which payout methods are listed for Bahrain. Coinepay supports several payout types across countries — bank account deposit, mobile wallets and cash pickup — and the options available for each destination are shown in the app when you choose the country.
If a direct BPay wallet payout is listed, you can send to the wallet. If it is not currently available for Bahrain, the usual route is a bank account deposit to the recipient's Bahraini bank account, which they can then use to fund their BPay wallet (AFS lets users add money through Benefit with a Bahraini debit card). If you are unsure which route to use, contact Coinepay support to confirm what is available for your recipient before you pay.
Details you need from the recipient
Accuracy matters: AFS places responsibility for beneficiary details on the sender, and a transfer sent to the wrong person because of incorrectly entered details generally cannot be cancelled or refunded. Collect the following before you start:
- Full name exactly as registered on the recipient's BPay wallet or bank account — spelling and order must match their official ID.
- The registered mobile number or account/CPR identifier the recipient uses for BPay, if you are sending to the wallet. AFS has described identifying BPay users by registered phone number, CPR number or QR code.
- Bank account details (account number/IBAN and bank name) if you are using a bank deposit to Bahrain instead.
- Confirmation that the recipient is 18 or older — AFS requires beneficiaries to be at least 18.
Double-check every character with the recipient directly. A single wrong digit in a phone number or IBAN can send money to the wrong account.
Recipient wallet limits and balance
BPay wallets have caps set under Central Bank of Bahrain rules. AFS publishes a maximum of BHD 2,500 per transaction and a BHD 2,500 wallet balance per individual, which it notes may be revised. If the amount you send would push the recipient over their wallet balance limit, the payout can be delayed or rejected. For larger amounts, check with your recipient about their current balance and verification level, and consider a bank deposit instead where that cap does not apply.
Step by step: sending with Coinepay
- Register and verify. If you are new, create a Coinepay account and complete identity verification (KYC). You can do this in the mobile app for iOS or Android, or from the web dashboard. You must use your real identity and details.
- Start a new transfer. In the app, open Global Remittance and choose Bahrain as the destination country.
- Choose the payout method. Select the BPay mobile wallet payout if it is listed, or bank account deposit to Bahrain. The methods shown are the ones currently available for the destination.
- Enter the amount. Type how much you want to send. The app will show you the amount the recipient receives in BHD.
- Enter the recipient's details. Add the registered name, and the phone number/account identifier for wallet payout or the bank/IBAN for a deposit. Review each field carefully.
- Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the exchange rate, the fees and the estimated arrival time on the confirmation screen before you commit. Check the figures and the recipient name one more time.
- Confirm and authorise. Confirm the transfer and authorise it with your Coinepay security method. You may be asked for information such as the purpose of the transfer or your source of funds — this is part of standard compliance.
- Track it. Every transfer has a status you can follow in the app, from processing to paid out.
How fast it arrives and how the recipient sees it
Coinepay transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and the destination country, so treat the estimate shown in the app as your guide. All transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations, which can add time.
When money reaches a BPay wallet, AFS typically notifies the user; BPay users are accustomed to receiving a confirmation text for account activity. For a bank deposit, the recipient will see the credit in their Bahraini bank account and can then load their BPay wallet from there. Ask your recipient to confirm receipt once your Coinepay status shows the payout is complete.
Troubleshooting
Wrong number or account entered
If you notice a mistake before confirming, go back and correct it. Once a transfer is confirmed and processed, remittance instructions generally cannot be amended or cancelled, and AFS states that a transfer sent to an unintended beneficiary because of incorrectly registered details cannot be cancelled or refunded. Contact Coinepay support immediately — a later fix is never guaranteed, but acting fast gives the best chance.
Name mismatch
If the recipient name does not match the name registered on the BPay wallet or bank account, the payout can be held or returned. Confirm the exact registered spelling with your recipient and re-enter it precisely.
Wallet limit reached
If the recipient's BPay balance is near the BHD 2,500 cap, or the amount exceeds the per-transaction limit, the payout may fail. Ask the recipient to spend down or withdraw some balance, or send a smaller amount or use a bank deposit instead.
Unverified or inactive wallet
BPay requires a Bahrain resident aged 18 or older with a valid CPR and a registered Bahraini mobile number. If the recipient's wallet is not fully set up or verified, a wallet payout may not complete. The recipient should resolve their wallet status with AFS; its BPay support line is 1729 9717.
Transfer under compliance review
AFS and Coinepay both run anti-money-laundering and sanctions checks, and destination-country restrictions can stop processing. If your transfer is reviewing longer than expected, respond promptly to any Coinepay request for documents about the purpose or source of funds. Never split a transfer, use a third party, or try to work around checks — that can cause the transfer to be rejected.
Recipient says the money has not arrived
First check the status in the Coinepay app. If Coinepay shows the payout completed but the recipient cannot see it, they can contact BPay support on 1729 9717. For anything on the sending side, reach Coinepay support or our Telegram channel.
A few good habits
Confirm the recipient's registered name and number directly with them, review the rate and fees on the confirmation screen, and keep your transfer reference until the recipient confirms they have the money.
Because availability of BPay wallet payouts can change, always let the Coinepay app show you the current options for Bahrain rather than assuming. If you need help choosing the right method, our support team is available 24/7.

FAQ
Can Coinepay pay directly into a BPay wallet in Bahrain?
BPay is a closed-loop wallet operated by Arab Financial Services, so direct wallet payout is not guaranteed for every provider. Open the Coinepay app, choose Bahrain, and see which payout methods are listed. If BPay wallet is not shown, a bank deposit to the recipient's Bahraini bank account is the usual route. Contact Coinepay support to confirm before you send.
What details do I need from my BPay recipient?
You need their full name exactly as registered, and either the mobile number or account/CPR identifier for a wallet payout, or the bank account/IBAN for a bank deposit. The recipient must be 18 or older. Check every character, because transfers sent to the wrong details generally cannot be cancelled or refunded.
How long does a transfer to Bahrain take?
Coinepay transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and destination, and on identity and sanctions checks. The estimated arrival time is shown in the app before you confirm.
Is there a limit on how much my recipient can hold in BPay?
AFS publishes a maximum of BHD 2,500 per transaction and a BHD 2,500 wallet balance per individual, set under Central Bank of Bahrain rules and subject to change. If your amount would exceed the recipient's wallet cap, consider a bank deposit instead.
What happens if I entered the wrong recipient information?
If you spot the error before confirming, correct it. After a transfer is confirmed and processed, instructions generally cannot be amended or cancelled, and a payout to an unintended beneficiary from wrong details may not be refundable. Contact Coinepay support immediately for the best chance of help.
