SurveyMonkey's paid plans unlock more questions, advanced logic, exports and team features, and you pay for them with a card at checkout. This guide walks through creating a Coinepay virtual card, choosing a SurveyMonkey plan, and completing the billing form, then covers the most common reasons a card payment is refused and how to resolve them. It is an independent how-to; Coinepay is not affiliated with SurveyMonkey.
Before you start
A few things make checkout go smoothly:
- A verified Coinepay account. You must register and complete identity verification (KYC) before you can issue a card. Create your account, then install the app from the App Store or Google Play.
- A funded virtual card. Coinepay issues virtual cards with an instant card number, expiry date and CVV. Top it up so the balance comfortably covers the plan plus any temporary pre-authorization hold the merchant may place.
- Your real billing details. Use the name, address and postal code that match your Coinepay profile. SurveyMonkey checks the billing address during payment, so always use accurate information.
SurveyMonkey accepts Visa and Mastercard in all supported currencies, with other networks (American Express, JCB, Discover, Diners Club and more) accepted only in specific currencies and countries. If you are not sure whether your Coinepay card meets a given network or country requirement, contact Coinepay support to confirm before you buy.
Choose the right SurveyMonkey plan
SurveyMonkey separates individual and team subscriptions. Pick the one that fits how you will use it:
- Individual: Basic (free), Standard Monthly, Advantage Annual and Premier Annual. The help center also names Starter Annual (first-time upgrades only) and SurveyMonkey Forms.
- Team: Team Advantage and Team Premier start at three users and are billed annually; Enterprise requires a sales quote.
At the time of writing (October 2026), SurveyMonkey's public US pricing page showed Advantage Annual billed annually and Premier Annual billed annually, with Standard billed monthly, while prices in Japan and other regions differ because the billing country sets the currency. SurveyMonkey supports billing in USD, GBP, EUR, CAD, AUD and more, and a displayed dollar figure should not be converted and treated as your local quote. Prices vary by region and can change, so always confirm the exact figure on SurveyMonkey's official Plans & Pricing page before you pay. Remember that annual plans are charged upfront for the full year and monthly plans for the first month upfront, and that paid plans renew automatically by default.
Step-by-step: sign up and pay
- Issue and fund your Coinepay card. In the Coinepay app, create a virtual card and add enough balance for the first charge. Keep the card number, expiry and CVV ready.
- Open SurveyMonkey's Plans & Pricing page and select the plan and billing cycle you want. Click the upgrade or buy button for that tier.
- Create or sign in to your account. New users register with an email address and password; existing users log in so the subscription attaches to the right account.
- Set your billing country. Checkout displays the available payment methods only after you choose the billing country, and it shows the billing currency above the confirmation button. If your country is not in the list, SurveyMonkey cannot accept payment from that country.
- Select card payment and enter your card. Type the Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV exactly as shown in the app. Avoid an invoice option if you want immediate activation, as an invoice sends payment instructions rather than activating the plan right away.
- Enter billing details to match. Add the billing address and postal code that match your Coinepay profile, so the address check passes.
- Review the currency and total, then confirm. Check the amount and currency shown above the confirm button, then submit. If prompted, approve any 3-D Secure or verification step from your card issuer.
- Confirm activation. Access to paid features starts once payment is processed. You will see the subscription reflected on your account.
Find your invoices and billing settings
After payment, you can manage everything from your account:
- Billing details: Profile → My Account → Billing Details.
- Invoices and receipts: My Account → Transaction History.
Keep an eye on the renewal date here, because paid plans renew automatically unless you change the setting.
Troubleshooting a declined card
SurveyMonkey reports an unsuccessful payment with a message saying the charge "didn't go through" or "failed." It is not an issuer-specific decline-code list, so work through the common causes below.
Insufficient balance or a pre-authorization hold
A virtual card must hold enough for the full charge and any temporary pre-authorization. SurveyMonkey notes that a refused temporary card pre-authorization can stop the whole purchase, and that a successful temporary hold is normally released within seven business days, depending on the bank. Top up your Coinepay card with a little headroom above the plan price and try again.
Billing address or postal code mismatch
A mismatched billing address or postal code is one of SurveyMonkey's listed failure causes. Open Coinepay to confirm the exact address on file, then enter it on the checkout form character for character, including the postal code.
Mistyped, expired or wrong security code
Re-enter the card number, expiry date and CVV carefully. Copy them straight from the Coinepay app rather than from memory, and make sure the card has not expired.
3-D Secure / issuer verification
If your issuer asks for an extra confirmation step, approve it through the Coinepay app. Keep the app open and notifications enabled during checkout so you do not miss the prompt.
Merchant region and currency checks
If your country is missing from the billing-country list, SurveyMonkey cannot take payment from it. Payment methods and accepted card networks also depend on the billing country and currency: Visa and Mastercard are accepted in all supported currencies, while some networks are limited to certain currencies and countries. If you suspect a network or country restriction is blocking your card, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the requirement before trying again.
Issuer blocked the charge
SurveyMonkey also lists issuer blocking as a possible cause. If the details are correct and the balance is sufficient but the payment still fails, check for any card controls in the Coinepay app, and reach out to Coinepay support or ask on Telegram.
Cancellation and refunds
To stop auto-renewal, go to My Account → Billing Details → Manage Subscription → Downgrade to Basic. Paid access normally continues until the next billing date, when the account becomes Basic. Sales-assisted accounts, or accounts with an outstanding invoice, must contact SurveyMonkey support, and purchases made through the iOS app are canceled via Apple. Cancelling or deleting an account does not automatically refund unused time, and previous charges are generally nonrefundable unless the law requires otherwise. Eligible consumers in the countries covered by SurveyMonkey's European subscription policy, including the UK, can cancel a new paid subscription within 14 calendar days of the activation-confirmation email for a refund, with written notice and excluding business use.
Tips for a smooth renewal
Because annual plans are paid a year upfront, set a reminder before the renewal date and keep your Coinepay card funded ahead of it so an automatic charge does not fail. You can check prices, top up and review your card activity from the Coinepay app or the 24/7 self-service dashboard at any time. Learn more about Coinepay virtual cards on the Coinepay home page.
