You can start a BigCommerce trial without a card, then choose a paid plan when you are ready to keep your store running. This guide explains how to prepare a Coinepay virtual card, enter it during BigCommerce plan checkout, manage later invoices and investigate a declined payment. It covers your payment to BigCommerce for the store subscription—not the payment options you offer shoppers.
What you need before paying
- A BigCommerce store-owner account. The 15-day trial asks for an email address, contact information, a store name and a password. It does not require a card to start.
- A Coinepay account and virtual card. Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification before using card services. Once issued, the virtual card provides a card number, expiry date and CVV. You can manage it through the 24/7 self-service dashboard or the Coinepay mobile app.
- Your real billing information. Have the billing name and address associated with your payment details ready. Use accurate information that BigCommerce can check against the payment details; do not enter a borrowed or invented address.
- Enough available funds for the checkout total. Check the plan, billing period and any tax shown at BigCommerce checkout, then check your available funds in Coinepay before submitting payment.
BigCommerce’s governing agreement specifies credit card as its default payment method. Other methods, such as PayPal or eligible ACH debit, require written approval unless otherwise agreed, and the methods shown for an invoice may vary by plan and region. Do not assume a virtual card qualifies under a merchant’s card requirements. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the applicable requirement before you buy, and check the payment options BigCommerce displays for your account.
Choose the BigCommerce plan and billing period
BigCommerce’s current plan names are Core, Growth, Scale and Performance. They replaced Standard, Plus, Pro and Enterprise in the June 2026 plan update. In the Account Dashboard, the store owner can select a self-service plan and choose monthly or annual billing. Performance requires contacting BigCommerce sales, so its purchasing steps may differ from a self-service checkout.
Review the current BigCommerce pricing page before choosing. Prices and taxes can affect the amount you need available, and your billing period affects when charges recur. Plan selection is not only about the subscription charge: BigCommerce lists sales-volume thresholds and automatic upgrades for some plans. It also lists an additional platform fee for eligible orders processed through an Open Payment Provider on Core, Growth and Scale; orders processed through listed Embedded Payment Providers do not incur that particular fee. Those storefront-order costs are separate from paying the subscription invoice with your card.
How to sign up and pay with your Coinepay card
- Start the trial on BigCommerce’s official site. Enter your email address, contact information, store name and password. No card is needed at this stage. Keep your sign-in details so you can return to the Account Dashboard.
- Prepare your Coinepay card. After completing Coinepay identity verification, open your card details in the Coinepay dashboard or app. Check the available funds against the total BigCommerce will show at checkout. Keep the card number, expiry date and CVV private; enter them only in the intended payment form.
- Open your BigCommerce Account Dashboard. As the store owner, select the store and the plan you want. Choose monthly or annual billing where offered. If you need Performance, follow BigCommerce’s sales process instead of expecting the same self-service checkout.
- Review the order. Confirm the plan, billing period, billing details and amount presented. If a payment method is already on file, BigCommerce may offer it; otherwise, choose the option to enter new payment details if it is available for your account.
- Enter the card and accurate billing details. Copy the Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV into the relevant fields. Check every digit and enter your real billing name and address. Review any authentication request that appears, then submit the payment once.
- Verify the result. Look for BigCommerce’s checkout confirmation and check the account’s invoice status. You can also check your Coinepay activity. A card entry or a pending transaction alone is not proof that an invoice was paid; rely on the resulting BigCommerce account and invoice status.
If you do not upgrade after the 15-day trial, BigCommerce says the storefront becomes inaccessible. It retains the store data for 90 days before deleting the store. A trial store can take customer payments if you separately set up a payment partner, but doing so does not pay for or extend the BigCommerce subscription.
How to change your card or pay an invoice later
To reach BigCommerce billing settings, open the store-name menu → Manage store account in the control panel, or sign in at manage.bigcommerce.com. Go to Account → Payment method to change the payment method or pay an invoice. Use Account → Invoices to review invoices. Follow the payment choices shown for your account rather than assuming the initial checkout and every later invoice offer identical options.
If your business is based in India, BigCommerce says invoices must be paid manually. It sends a billing-date email with a payment link; do not rely on automatic collection. Check the invoice and use the payment method offered in the official billing flow.
What to do if BigCommerce declines the card
Start with the message shown by BigCommerce and the transaction status in Coinepay. Avoid repeatedly resubmitting unchanged details: BigCommerce says repeated failed attempts can block a card for 24–48 hours. The checks below help narrow down common causes, but neither service can promise that a particular attempt will be approved.
Insufficient available funds
Compare the available funds shown in Coinepay with the full amount BigCommerce displays, including any applicable tax. Check that you selected the intended monthly or annual billing period. If you need to add funds, follow the options shown in your Coinepay account and retry only once the available amount covers the checkout total. Check the Coinepay app or contact support for any funding rules relevant to your account.
Billing-address mismatch or incorrect card details
BigCommerce documents billing-address mismatch as a reason an invoice payment can fail. Recheck the card number, expiry date, CVV and the billing information you entered. Correct genuine typing mistakes; do not change an address merely to make it appear to match a different location. If your legitimate billing details have changed, update them through the appropriate account process before retrying.
Authentication or 3-D Secure interruption
If checkout asks you to complete a card-authentication step, finish it through the prompt presented and return to BigCommerce to see whether payment completed. An abandoned, expired or unsuccessful prompt may leave the invoice unpaid. If the prompt does not appear or you cannot complete it, check your Coinepay card activity and ask Coinepay support for help with the attempted transaction. Do not assume authentication occurred just because the card details were accepted.
Location or merchant-region checks
BigCommerce documents the invoice error “MAX 7” when the billing address is too far from the location of the payment attempt; travel or a VPN can contribute to that mismatch. If you see it, check your actual billing information and contact BigCommerce billing support about the location check. Do not use a VPN or a false address to work around it. Other regional eligibility or payment-method checks may depend on your BigCommerce account and location. Ask BigCommerce which billing options are available for your account, and ask Coinepay support about your card if the card transaction itself is declined.
Subscription billing is separate from shopper checkout
Paying your BigCommerce invoice with a Coinepay card does not configure how customers pay in your store. BigCommerce’s default customer flow is Optimized One-Page Checkout, but the methods shoppers see depend on the payment gateway you configure, as well as country and currency. Likewise, a shopper gateway’s list of accepted cards does not establish which cards BigCommerce accepts for your subscription invoices. Keep the two settings separate when investigating a payment problem.
If you later decide to cancel, BigCommerce says Core, Growth and Scale can be canceled in the control panel. Its billing terms require notice at least two business days before the billing date to avoid renewal for another period; contracted Performance terms can differ. Subscription fees are non-refundable, including unused prepaid time, and cancellation does not remove fees already owed. Review your own terms and invoice dates before making a change.

No. The 15-day trial does not require a card, but you will need to select and pay for a plan to keep the storefront accessible after the trial.
Where do I update my card for a BigCommerce invoice?
Open the store-name menu, choose Manage store account, then go to Account → Payment method. Account → Invoices shows your invoices.
What does “MAX 7” mean on a BigCommerce payment?
BigCommerce associates this error with excessive distance between the billing address and the payment-attempt location. Check your real details and contact BigCommerce billing support.
