You can send money from abroad to a recipient’s Mercado Pago wallet in Mexico by choosing a mobile-wallet payout when that option is available for your transfer. With Coinepay Global Remittance, check the destination and payout methods shown in the app, enter the recipient’s details, and review the exchange rate and fees before confirming. This guide covers direct wallet delivery—not a transfer initiated from a Mercado Pago wallet abroad or a cash-pickup code collected in the app.
Check that this is the right Mercado Pago account
This payout option is for a Mercado Pago Wallet account in Mexico. The recipient should have access to the Mercado Pago app and an account registered in their real name. The receiving balance is in Mexican pesos (MXN); the Coinepay transfer review will show the currency and amount for the selected payout before you confirm.
Ask the recipient to check their account details in the Mercado Pago app rather than relying on an old contact entry or a phone number they no longer use. Mercado Pago says it may send a mobile-phone invitation to create an account if the intended recipient does not already have one. For a transfer you need to send now, it is safer to have the recipient set up and check their account first: an invitation to register is not the same as confirmation that a transfer has been credited.
Availability of a particular payout method can depend on the sending location and the options displayed for the destination. Choose Mercado Pago only if it appears as a mobile-wallet payout option for your Coinepay transfer. If it does not appear, do not select a different wallet and assume the money will reach Mercado Pago. Check the other available payout methods with your recipient or contact Coinepay support.
Get the recipient details before you start
- Full registered name: Ask for the recipient’s full name exactly as it appears on their Mercado Pago account. Do not substitute a nickname, a business name or your own name.
- Wallet identifier: Ask for the registered mobile phone number or Mercado Pago account ID, as applicable to the fields Coinepay displays. A single identifier format is not required across every sending provider, so follow the form you actually see.
- Account readiness: Have the recipient confirm that they can access their Mercado Pago wallet and that it can receive an incoming transfer. Account verification and applicable receiving limits may affect whether a payout can be accepted.
Confirm these details directly with the recipient before paying. In particular, check the phone number’s country code if the form asks for one. Use your real identity and accurate transfer information throughout; do not enter another person’s details to get past an account or payment check.
Send to Mercado Pago with Coinepay Global Remittance
- Open Coinepay. Sign in through the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app. If you are new, register and complete the identity verification required for your transfer. Coinepay’s app is available for iOS and Android.
- Set the destination. Start a Global Remittance transfer and select Mexico as the receiving country. Enter the amount using the currency fields shown for your transfer.
- Choose the payout method. Look under Mobile wallet and select Mercado Pago if it is listed. This is the direct-to-wallet choice. Do not choose bank deposit or cash pickup unless that is the different delivery method you and the recipient intend to use.
- Enter the recipient’s information. Supply the registered phone number or account ID requested by the form and the recipient’s full name exactly as registered. Complete any other required fields accurately.
- Review before confirming. Check the destination, payout method, recipient identifier and name, sending amount, receiving amount, exchange rate and fees shown in Coinepay. The rate and fees are displayed before confirmation. If anything does not match what you intended, go back and correct it rather than confirming to see what happens.
- Confirm and track. Submit the transfer using the confirmation steps shown in your account. Keep its transaction reference and follow its status in Coinepay. Share the reference with support if you later need help investigating the payout.
Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may request documents supporting the purpose of a transfer or the source of funds. Respond through the instructed channel and wait for the review outcome; sending another transfer will not resolve a compliance hold.
How the recipient receives and checks the money
For a direct mobile-wallet payout, the recipient should look for the incoming money in their Mercado Pago account and review the wallet’s activity or transaction history. Once credited, Mercado Pago says the balance can be used in the wallet or transferred to a Mexican bank account. The recipient should verify the credited amount and currency against the transfer details you shared, without giving you their password or one-time login codes.
Check Coinepay’s transfer status rather than assuming a transfer is complete as soon as you confirm it. If your status indicates delivery but the recipient cannot see the balance, ask them to check that they are signed in to the intended Mercado Pago account. Then use the transaction reference to request an investigation through Coinepay support. Keep the confirmation and any relevant messages until the issue is resolved.
Wallet limits and account verification
Mercado Pago applies receiving limits to remittances, and the applicable sending provider or payout route may impose further restrictions. Limits can also depend on the recipient’s account status and verification. Because these conditions can change, ask the recipient to check the limits and verification requirements shown in their Mercado Pago account or its current help information before you send—particularly if they have already received other transfers.
If the wallet is unverified or has reached an applicable receiving limit, the recipient may need to complete Mercado Pago’s requested account checks or wait until their account is eligible to receive more. Do not split a payment or use another person’s wallet to avoid a limit or verification requirement. If you cannot tell whether this payout is available for your transfer, ask Coinepay support before confirming it.
Troubleshoot a failed, delayed or missing payout
| What happened | What to do |
|---|---|
| Wrong phone number or account ID | Check the identifier on your confirmation against the recipient’s registered details. Contact Coinepay support promptly with the transaction reference. Do not assume you can edit or reverse a submitted transfer yourself. |
| Recipient name does not match | Ask the recipient to confirm their full registered name, including the order of names. Tell support about the mismatch and follow its instructions; do not enter a different person’s identity. |
| Wallet limit reached | Have the recipient check the applicable Mercado Pago receiving limit and account status. Ask support what happens to the pending transfer rather than sending a replacement to work around the limit. |
| Wallet needs verification | The recipient should follow the verification instructions in their own Mercado Pago account. You can use Coinepay’s status tracking to monitor the transfer and contact support if its next step is unclear. |
| Transfer under compliance review | Check for a request from Coinepay for identity or transaction documents, such as evidence of the payment’s purpose or source of funds. Provide genuine documents through the requested channel and monitor the status. |
If the recipient reports a missing or different amount, compare your receipt with the recipient details, currency, receiving amount, exchange rate and fees shown when you confirmed. Contact Coinepay support with the transaction reference and explain the discrepancy. The recipient can also check their Mercado Pago activity for a credit or account notice. Avoid starting a second transfer until you understand what happened to the first.
Do not confuse wallet delivery with code collection
Mercado Pago also describes a separate way for recipients to collect certain eligible transfers by entering a provider’s reference code under “Dinero del extranjero” in its app. That process is not the same as choosing Mobile wallet → Mercado Pago for direct delivery. If someone sends you instructions involving a collection code, check which payout method was actually selected before trying to use those instructions or asking the sender to resend the money.
Coinepay sends cross-border transfers to countries and regions other than jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions. Customers and counterparties are screened against sanctions lists, and availability remains subject to local rules. For a Mexico-to-Mercado-Pago payout question specific to your account, check the options displayed in Coinepay or contact support before you confirm.

FAQ
What country should I select to send to Mercado Pago?
Select Mexico, then choose Mercado Pago under Mobile wallet if that payout option appears for your Coinepay transfer.
Do I need the recipient’s phone number or account ID?
Use the registered phone number or account ID requested by the transfer form, plus the recipient’s full name exactly as registered with Mercado Pago.
Can I send if the recipient has not set up Mercado Pago?
Ask the recipient to set up and check their account first. A possible invitation to register does not confirm that money has been credited.
What if the recipient cannot see the transfer?
Check its status and recipient details in Coinepay, ask the recipient to check the correct Mercado Pago account, and contact Coinepay support with the transaction reference.
Is entering a code under “Dinero del extranjero” the same payout method?
No. That is a separate collection process for eligible coded transfers, not direct Mercado Pago mobile-wallet delivery.
