You can use a Coinepay virtual card to attempt a purchase on Epic Games Store, provided a card payment option is available at your checkout and Epic accepts the transaction. The store sells games and add-ons individually; it does not have a store-wide membership tier. It also lists separate subscriptions, including Fortnite Crew and EA Play. This guide covers what to prepare, how to check out, and what to check if your payment is declined.

What you need before checkout

  • An Epic Games account. Use your real identity and keep your account country accurate. The country associated with your account affects the prices and payment options you see.
  • A Coinepay account with identity verification completed. You must register and complete KYC before using Coinepay card services. Once your virtual card is issued, its card number, expiry date and CVV are available instantly. Check the Coinepay app or self-service dashboard for the card details and available funds.
  • Your real billing details. Have the cardholder name and billing address associated with your payment details ready. Enter them consistently rather than substituting an address from another country.
  • The checkout total. Review the amount Epic displays, including tax, and make sure you have enough available funds. Prices and payment methods vary by region; check Epic Games Store’s official product page and checkout for the current amount.

Epic lists card payments, PayPal and some region-dependent alternatives for store purchases. The options presented to you at checkout are the ones to review. Neither the availability of a card field nor an issued virtual card guarantees that Epic will accept a particular transaction.

Create an Epic Games account and prepare your card

  1. On Epic Games, select Create your account. Enter your date of birth, then choose email or one of the sign-in methods offered.
  2. Complete the requested account details and enter the verification code Epic emails you. Check that your account information, especially your country, reflects your actual circumstances.
  3. If you have not set up Coinepay, register for Coinepay and complete identity verification. Open the iOS app, Android app or 24/7 self-service dashboard to manage your card.
  4. Check your virtual card’s number, expiry date and CVV, as well as its available funds. For questions about card availability or requirements in your jurisdiction, contact Coinepay support before buying.

Some Coinepay services are not available in every jurisdiction. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions, and customers and counterparties are screened against sanctions lists. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions.

Pay for a game or add-on on Epic Games Store

  1. Sign in to your Epic Games account and open the game or add-on you want. Check its product page for its current price and any requirements that apply to that purchase.
  2. Add the item to your cart. Open Cart → Check Out and review the order, including the tax-inclusive total Epic displays.
  3. Choose an available card payment option or add a payment method if prompted. Enter your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV, along with your real cardholder and billing details. Follow any verification prompt shown during checkout.
  4. Review the final details, then select Place Order. Wait for Epic’s order result rather than submitting the same order repeatedly. Epic sends a receipt by email for a completed purchase.

To review or remove a saved billing method later, go to Epic Games Account → Payment settings. Adding a method there does not by itself mean a future purchase or subscription renewal will be approved. Check the payment method selected and the amount due each time you buy.

What changes when you buy a subscription?

Fortnite Crew and EA Play are subscriptions listed on Epic Games Store, not plans for the store itself. EA Play may show Monthly and Annual choices. Open the relevant product page to confirm the plan, billing frequency, current regional price and terms before placing an order. Prices vary by region, so rely on the official Epic listing and the live checkout rather than an older advertised figure.

For a subscription purchase, follow the purchase prompts presented for that product and review whether the payment is recurring before you confirm. Keep enough available funds for any renewal you intend to make, and check your Epic account for the subscription’s status. If your subscription was billed through another platform rather than Epic, that platform’s billing and cancellation process may apply.

For Fortnite Crew billed by Epic, Epic’s cancellation path is Account → Subscriptions → subscription cog → Cancel Subscription. Benefits continue until the end of the billing period; canceling does not refund that period. For EA Play purchased on Epic Games Store, use Account → Subscriptions → Cancel; its benefits end when the current billing cycle ends. Confirm that Epic shows the cancellation as complete and keep the confirmation for your records.

If your card is declined, check these causes

A decline does not identify the cause on its own. Epic documents messages including “Name on card is invalid” and “For your protection, this transaction has been declined. Please try another card or other payment methods.” Use the message and the checks below to narrow down the issue; do not assume that changing one field will make a payment go through.

  • Insufficient available funds: Compare the funds shown in Coinepay with Epic’s full checkout total, including tax. If funds are insufficient, use the funding options available to you in Coinepay and check the balance again before retrying. For a subscription, consider the amount due for the current billing cycle.
  • Billing details or card-entry mismatch: Re-enter the number, expiry and CVV carefully. If Epic says “Name on card is invalid,” check that the cardholder name you entered matches your real payment details. Review the billing address as well. Do not enter a made-up address to try to pass a check.
  • 3-D Secure or another authentication prompt: If checkout asks you to verify the payment, complete the prompt using the instructions displayed. If it fails, times out or never appears, check for a relevant notification in Coinepay and contact Coinepay support with the time and error shown. Do not assume authentication is available or that it was the cause of a decline without confirmation.
  • Merchant region checks: Epic’s account-country and billing checks can affect a purchase, and its payment options vary by region. Make sure your account country and billing information are accurate. An active VPN or proxy is also among Epic’s listed possible failure causes; do not use one to misrepresent your location or get around regional restrictions.
  • Other restrictions: Epic also lists inactive cards and bank restrictions as possible reasons for failure. Check your card’s status in Coinepay. If Epic displays a requirement about eligible cards or your region, contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets it before you buy.

If the details and funds look correct but Epic continues to decline the payment, record the exact error and contact Epic Games support about its checkout decision. You can also contact Coinepay support about your card status or a verification problem. Avoid sending your full card number or CVV in a support message.

Refunds and purchases made elsewhere

Before placing an order, check its refund label and terms. Under Epic’s policy, eligible PC or Mac products marked self-refundable or refundable generally have a 14-day window and must have less than two hours of playtime. For eligible mobile products, Epic lists a two-hour window after purchase. These rules do not mean every game, add-on or subscription qualifies.

Subscriptions and consumables are generally non-refundable unless applicable law requires otherwise; Epic specifically lists Fortnite Crew bought directly from Epic as non-refundable. For an eligible self-service refund, go to Account → Transactions. Epic returns approved refunds to the original payment method when possible. If another store handled the purchase, follow that store’s refund policy instead.

FAQ

Does Epic Games Store have a subscription I need to buy?

No. Games and add-ons are sold individually. Fortnite Crew and EA Play are separate subscriptions listed on the store, not membership tiers for Epic Games Store.

Where can I change a saved card on my Epic account?

Go to Epic Games Account → Payment settings to add or delete a saved payment method.

Why was my Coinepay virtual card declined?

Possible causes include insufficient funds, incorrect card or billing details, an authentication problem, or Epic’s region and payment checks. Review the exact error, then contact Epic or Coinepay support as appropriate.

How do I cancel Fortnite Crew if Epic bills me?

Go to Account → Subscriptions → subscription cog → Cancel Subscription. Benefits continue through the current billing period, which is not refunded when you cancel.
