FahiPay is an electronic money wallet used in the Maldives, where FahiPay Pvt Ltd is licensed by the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) to issue e-money. If someone you know in the Maldives uses FahiPay, you may want to send funds from abroad so they can top up their wallet or receive money quickly. This guide explains how to prepare a cross-border transfer with Coinepay Global Remittance, what recipient details you need, and what to do if something goes wrong.

Before you start: what to know about FahiPay

FahiPay accounts are held in Maldivian rufiyaa (MVR). Under MMA rules, licensed issuers must denominate e-money in rufiyaa unless the regulator approves another currency, so your recipient will normally see the money arrive in MVR regardless of the currency you send from.

FahiPay describes itself as a wallet for sending money to another FahiPay account, with a QR-scan feature it calls FahiSend and the option to pick contacts from the phone's contact list. Before relying on any single payout route, open the Coinepay app and check which Maldives payout methods are available for your destination. Coinepay supports bank account deposits, mobile wallets and cash pickup depending on the country; the exact options and the recipient details required are confirmed in the app at the time you set up the transfer.

Coinepay sends to every country and region except those under comprehensive sanctions. All transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations, and Coinepay may ask for documents such as the purpose or source of funds.

What you need from the recipient

Collect these details from the person receiving the money and double-check every character before you confirm:

  • Registered phone number or account ID. The Maldives country code is +960 and local mobile numbers are seven digits (ranges such as 71X XXXX–79X XXXX and 91X XXXX–99X XXXX). If the Coinepay payout form asks for a wallet or phone number, enter it exactly as the recipient registered it; if a field asks for the country code separately, add +960.
  • Full name exactly as registered. Enter the recipient's name precisely as it appears on their FahiPay account and identity documents. A mismatch between the sender's instruction and the registered account holder can delay or reject the payout.
  • Any reference the app requests. Keep a note of the transfer reference Coinepay generates so you can quote it to support if you need help.

Use the recipient's real, current details. Never enter made-up names or numbers, and never try to work around a payout check.

Step by step: sending to a FahiPay wallet

  1. Register and verify once. Create your account at Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC). You need to do this before you can send. Download the app from the App Store or Google Play.
  2. Start a new transfer. In the Coinepay dashboard or app, choose to send money and select the Maldives as the destination country.
  3. Choose the payout method. Pick the mobile wallet option and select FahiPay if it is listed for the Maldives, or the payout route the app presents for reaching the recipient's wallet. The form tells you exactly which recipient fields are required.
  4. Enter the recipient details. Type the registered phone number or account ID and the full name exactly as registered. Re-read each field.
  5. Enter the amount. You can usually enter the amount to send or the amount you want the recipient to receive in MVR. The app converts between currencies for you.
  6. Review the rate and fees. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and any fees clearly before you confirm, along with the estimated arrival time for that payout method and destination. Check all of it on the review screen.
  7. Confirm. Approve the transfer. You may be asked for the purpose or source of funds as part of compliance checks; provide accurate information to keep the transfer moving.
  8. Track it. Every transfer has status tracking in the app. Follow it from sent to paid out, and keep the reference number.

How fast does it arrive and how the recipient sees it

Transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and the destination country. The estimate shown before you confirm is your best guide for this specific transfer. When the payout completes, the recipient sees the balance credited to their FahiPay wallet in MVR and can use it inside the FahiPay app. Ask them to check their in-app transaction history if they are unsure whether it has landed.

Recipient wallet limits and verification levels

FahiPay wallets follow the MMA's tiered e-money framework. The regulator publishes account maxima for its verification tiers — a lower Base 1 tier and a higher Base 2 tier — and FahiPay sets its own limits within those regulatory ceilings. A wallet's tier, together with its daily, weekly and monthly usage, remaining allowances and reset times, is tracked within FahiPay's own systems. In practice this means a less-verified or lower-tier wallet can hold and receive less than a fully verified one.

If the recipient expects a larger amount, ask them to confirm their verification level and remaining allowance inside the FahiPay app first. Upgrading their verification with FahiPay may raise the ceiling. Coinepay does not control FahiPay's tier limits, so these are best checked on the recipient's side before you send.

Troubleshooting

Wrong number or account ID

If you notice a mistake before you confirm, go back and correct the field. If you have already confirmed, contact Coinepay support immediately with your transfer reference. Whether a payout can be stopped depends on how far it has progressed, so act quickly.

Name mismatch

If the name you entered does not match the registered FahiPay account holder, the payout may be delayed or returned. Confirm the exact registered spelling with the recipient and share it with support so the details can be corrected or the transfer re-sent.

Wallet limit reached

If the recipient's wallet cannot accept the full amount because a tier or allowance is exhausted, the payout can fail or partially complete. Ask the recipient to check their remaining allowance and reset time in FahiPay, then retry once there is room or after any upgrade.

Unverified wallet

A wallet that has not completed FahiPay's verification steps may be restricted. Ask the recipient to finish the verification shown in their FahiPay app before you send again.

Compliance review

If a transfer is held for review, this is routine. Coinepay may ask you for extra information such as the purpose or source of funds. Respond promptly and accurately; do not split the transfer, route it through a third party, or attempt to avoid the checks.

Keeping details safe

FahiPay reminds customers to keep their PIN, password and verification codes private and to have the payment reference ready when contacting support. Keep your Coinepay credentials private too, and only share transfer references with official support.

Get help

If you are unsure which payout method reaches your recipient, or a transfer is stuck, reach out through Coinepay support or our Telegram channel. For FahiPay-specific wallet questions — such as a tier, limit or a credited amount the recipient cannot see — the recipient should contact FahiPay directly from inside their app.

FAQ

What details do I need to send money to a FahiPay wallet?

You need the recipient's registered phone number or account ID and their full name exactly as it appears on their FahiPay account. Enter every character carefully, and add the +960 country code if the form asks for it separately.

What currency will the recipient receive?

FahiPay wallets are held in Maldivian rufiyaa (MVR), since licensed Maldives e-money issuers must denominate in rufiyaa. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and fees before you confirm, and the recipient normally sees the amount credited in MVR.

How fast will the money reach the FahiPay wallet?

Transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and destination. The estimated arrival time for your specific transfer is shown in the Coinepay app before you confirm.

What if the recipient's wallet limit is reached or the wallet is unverified?

FahiPay wallets have tiered limits set within MMA rules. Ask the recipient to check their tier and remaining allowance, and to complete any verification steps in the FahiPay app, then retry once there is room.

Can I cancel a transfer if I entered the wrong number?

Contact Coinepay support immediately with your transfer reference. Whether a payout can be stopped depends on how far it has progressed, so act as quickly as possible.
