Coinepay Global Remittance lets you send money to Armenia from a verified account, with the exchange rate and fees shown clearly before you confirm. This guide explains what you need, the local payout methods you can choose, and how to track your transfer from your phone or the dashboard.

Before you start

You need a Coinepay account with completed identity verification (KYC). Every transfer is subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations, and Coinepay may ask for supporting information such as the purpose of the payment or the source of funds. If you do not have an account yet, register with Coinepay and finish verification first, or download the app from the App Store or Google Play.

Armenia's local currency is the Armenian dram (AMD). Your recipient can usually receive funds in dram, and some banks and transfer systems also credit foreign-currency accounts. The exact currency options appear in the app when you set up the transfer.

What you need from your recipient

  • The recipient's full legal name, exactly as it appears on their government-issued ID or bank records.
  • For a bank deposit: the account number, the receiving bank's name and address, and the bank's SWIFT/BIC code. The bank may also specify a branch code.
  • Any correspondent or intermediary bank instructions the receiving bank provides. These identify a route for the payment, not the recipient's own account, so never substitute a correspondent IBAN for the recipient's account number.
  • For cash pickup: the recipient's name as it appears on their ID, plus the tracking/reference number once the transfer is sent.
Armenia does not use a national IBAN format in the way some countries do. Use the account number and codes exactly as the receiving bank states them. Ask your recipient to confirm the details with their bank rather than guessing.

Payout methods available for Armenia

When you choose Armenia as the destination, the app shows the payout options available to you. Common routes include the following.

Bank account deposit

Funds are credited to the recipient's Armenian bank account, typically via SWIFT. You will need the account number, the receiving bank's name and address, and its SWIFT/BIC. Confirm with the recipient whether their bank requires a branch code or particular correspondent-bank routing for the currency you are sending; that information comes from the receiving bank.

Cash pickup

Where cash pickup is offered, the recipient can collect the funds at a participating agent location. To collect, they generally need a valid government-issued photo ID and the transfer tracking number. Make sure the name you enter matches the recipient's ID exactly, because the agent checks it before paying out.

Mobile wallet

Coinepay supports mobile-wallet payouts in many markets. Idram and Telcell are well-known local wallets in Armenia, but availability of a direct wallet payout depends on the routes shown in the app at the time of your transfer. Select a mobile-wallet option only if it is presented for Armenia in the Coinepay app; otherwise use bank deposit or cash pickup.

Step by step: send money to Armenia

  1. Open Coinepay and start a transfer. In the mobile app or the 24/7 dashboard, go to Global Remittance and choose to send money.
  2. Choose the destination and currency. Select Armenia as the destination country. Pick the payout currency (AMD or another currency where offered) and the payout method - bank deposit, cash pickup, or mobile wallet if listed.
  3. Enter the recipient's details. Type the full legal name and the payout details for your chosen method: account number plus bank name, address and SWIFT/BIC for a bank deposit, or the recipient's ID name for cash pickup. Double-check every field against what the recipient gave you.
  4. Review the exchange rate and fees. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and the fees for your transfer before you confirm. Review the amount your recipient will receive and the total you will pay.
  5. Add any required information. You may be asked for the purpose of the transfer or supporting documents as part of compliance checks. Provide accurate details to avoid delays.
  6. Confirm. Once you are satisfied, confirm the transfer. Your funds are then processed.
  7. Track the status. Every transfer has status tracking in the app and dashboard. Follow it from sent through to paid out, and share the reference number with your recipient if they need it for cash pickup.

What the recipient should expect

Armenian financial institutions apply customer due diligence, so the receiving bank or payout agent may request identification or information about the transaction and the funds before releasing the money. This is a normal regulatory step. Under Armenia's AML framework, institutions report certain larger non-cash transactions and any suspicious transactions - this is the institution's reporting obligation, not a block on receiving money.

Whether an incoming payment has any tax consequence depends on what it represents; an overseas payment is not automatically treated as a gift. If your recipient is unsure, they should check with their bank or a local tax adviser. Encourage your recipient to keep the payout details accurate and up to date with their bank so funds are credited without correction.

Troubleshooting

Wrong recipient details

Incorrect account or bank information can require correction or cause the transfer to be returned, and return costs may apply when the details supplied were inaccurate. Check the name, account number and SWIFT/BIC carefully before confirming. If you spot a mistake after sending, contact Coinepay support as soon as possible.

Compliance review

Transfers are screened against sanctions lists and may be reviewed. A receiving bank or correspondent can suspend, freeze or reject a payment if information is missing or if checks require it. Respond promptly if Coinepay or the receiving institution asks for the purpose of the payment, the source of funds, or recipient information. Never split a transfer, route it through a third party, or try to avoid these checks.

Delays

Correspondent-bank routing, the receiving bank's internal procedures and non-working days can all affect timing. Claims or credits submitted after business hours or on non-working days are typically handled on the next working day. Use status tracking to see where your transfer is.

Returned transfers

If a payment is returned - for example because of missing wire information or details that could not be matched - check the status note in the app and the details you entered. Correct the information and resend, and reach out to support if you need help understanding why it came back.

Where Coinepay can and cannot send

Coinepay sends to every country and region except those under comprehensive sanctions, and all customers and counterparties are screened. Do not attempt to send to a sanctioned jurisdiction or person. Some services are not available in every jurisdiction, and virtual-asset-related services are not available to residents of mainland China.

FAQ

What details do I need to send money to a bank account in Armenia?

You need the recipient's full legal name, their account number, and the receiving bank's name, address and SWIFT/BIC code. The bank may also specify a branch code or correspondent-bank routing. Confirm these with the recipient's bank, and don't substitute a correspondent IBAN for the recipient's own account number.

Can my recipient collect the money as cash in Armenia?

Where cash pickup is offered for Armenia in the Coinepay app, the recipient can collect at a participating agent. They will generally need a valid government-issued photo ID and the transfer tracking number, with their name entered exactly as it appears on their ID.

Will I see the exchange rate and fees before I send?

Yes. Coinepay shows the exchange rate and the fees for your transfer before you confirm, along with the amount your recipient will receive. Review these on the confirmation screen before completing the transfer.

Why might my transfer to Armenia be delayed or reviewed?

Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. A receiving bank may request ID or information about the funds, and correspondent routing or non-working days can affect timing. Provide any requested documents promptly to help the transfer complete.

Can I pay out directly to Idram or Telcell wallets?

Idram and Telcell are local Armenian wallets, but mobile-wallet payout availability depends on the routes shown in the Coinepay app for Armenia at the time of your transfer. Choose a mobile-wallet option only if it is listed; otherwise use bank deposit or cash pickup.
