You can start a Sprout Social trial without entering a card, then add a payment method if you decide to continue on a paid plan. This guide explains how to prepare a Coinepay virtual card, find Sprout Social’s billing settings, and work through common payment problems. Check your plan and checkout details before confirming a subscription, because pricing and availability can vary.
Before you start: plan, account, and card
Sprout Social lists five plans: Essentials, Standard, Professional, Advanced, and Enterprise. Enterprise has custom pricing. Its pricing page offers plan-specific sign-up links and advertises a 30-day trial without a credit card. If you do not add a payment method, the trial expires without a charge; continuing afterward requires a paid subscription.
At the time of writing (October 2026), Sprout Social’s US-dollar pricing information lists the following per-seat figures. These are not quotes for every region, and the amount due depends on your billing choice and seat count. Check Sprout Social’s official pricing page and the terms presented to you before subscribing.
| Plan | Billed annually | Billed monthly |
|---|---|---|
| Essentials | $79 per seat/month | $99 per seat/month |
| Standard | $199 per seat/month | $249 per seat/month |
| Professional | $299 per seat/month | $399 per seat/month |
| Advanced | $399 per seat/month | $499 per seat/month |
| Enterprise | Custom pricing | Custom pricing |
To use a Coinepay virtual card, first register with Coinepay and complete identity verification. Coinepay issues a virtual card with a card number, expiry date, and CVV; you can manage it through the self-service dashboard or the Coinepay mobile app for iOS and Android. Check the app for the card and funding details relevant to your purchase. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions, and some services are not available in every jurisdiction.
Check payment compatibility before you commit. Sprout Social says in-app subscriptions accept PayPal and credit cards from Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. It may let you designate a primary or backup payment method. Do not assume a particular virtual card meets Sprout Social’s card requirements: contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets them before you buy. Use your real identity and accurate billing information on both services.
How to sign up and pay for Sprout Social
- Choose a plan on Sprout Social’s official pricing page. Compare the features, seat count, and billing options shown there. Select the sign-up option for the plan you want; pricing-page links lead to plan-specific trial registration.
- Create your Sprout Social account using your real details. Complete the trial sign-up prompts presented to you. The advertised trial does not require a credit card, so you can evaluate the service before adding a payment method.
- Prepare your Coinepay card. After Coinepay identity verification, open your card details in its app or dashboard. Check the available funds and any applicable card settings against the amount and billing schedule Sprout Social presents. Account for the number of seats and any applicable taxes shown at checkout.
- Open Sprout Social billing when you are ready to subscribe. In your Sprout Social account, select your initials → Account and Settings → Billing & Plan. You need Manage Billing permission to view this page. If you cannot access it, ask your account administrator for the appropriate permission or help with the purchase.
- Enter the card if Sprout Social offers the eligible card-payment option. Use the card number, expiry date, and CVV shown by Coinepay. Enter your genuine billing name and address accurately, including the postal code. Review the plan, seats, billing frequency, amount, and any payment-authentication prompt you are shown. Follow Sprout Social’s on-screen instructions to confirm; the precise paid-checkout screens may differ.
- Verify the result. Return to Billing & Plan to check the subscription and payment method shown on your account. If you do not intend to continue after the trial, do not add a payment method merely to keep access: a trial without a payment method expires without a charge.
If your organization has an out-of-app, invoiced subscription, card entry in the in-app billing flow may not be the right route. Sprout Social says those subscriptions can also be paid by check, wire transfer, or ACH; ask your customer success manager about the method available for your agreement.
What to do if Sprout Social says “Payment Declined”
Sprout Social documents a “Payment Declined” error, but that message alone does not identify which check failed. Avoid repeatedly submitting unchanged details. Work through the likely causes, then contact the appropriate support team with the time of the attempt and the error shown. Never send a full card number or CVV in an ordinary support message.
Insufficient funds or a spending restriction
Check the amount Sprout Social is trying to collect, including the selected seats, billing frequency, and any taxes displayed. Then check the card’s available funds and applicable settings in Coinepay. Sprout Social identifies insufficient funds, issuer blocks, and spending limits as possible decline causes. If the attempted amount does not match what you expected, review the subscription before retrying rather than simply adding funds.
Billing address, postal code, or card details do not match
Re-enter the card number, expiry date, CVV, and your genuine billing details carefully. Sprout Social identifies mismatches in the billing address, postal code, or CVV, as well as expired or replaced cards, as possible causes. If your Coinepay card details have changed, use the current details displayed in the app. Do not substitute an invented address or another person’s identity to make a payment pass.
A 3-D Secure or other authentication step does not complete
If checkout presents an authentication challenge, follow its instructions and return to Sprout Social to see whether payment completed. A closed window, interrupted session, or unfinished prompt can leave the result unclear. Check your billing page before trying again. If authentication keeps failing or no prompt appears when one is requested, contact Coinepay support with the time and amount of the attempted transaction; Sprout Social support can help check the subscription-side status. Do not assume every card or checkout will use the same authentication flow.
Merchant region or card-eligibility checks
Sprout Social’s terms prohibit access or use in a US-embargoed country, by a US government denied party, or contrary to applicable export law. Payment availability can also depend on Sprout Social’s checks and its stated in-app card requirements. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions. If you believe a legitimate purchase has been declined because of eligibility or region checks, ask Sprout Social about the account restriction and Coinepay support whether your card meets the merchant’s requirements. Do not try to bypass either service’s restrictions.
Manage renewals, payment methods, and cancellation
To review or update a payment method, use initials → Account and Settings → Billing & Plan with Manage Billing permission. Sprout Social permits an eligible in-app payment method to be set as primary or backup. Keep the payment details current before renewal, particularly if a card has expired or been replaced.
If a renewal payment fails, Sprout Social says account access continues for a seven-day grace period and then locks until payment succeeds. Collection attempts may continue during a 27-day period. Update the payment method promptly and check the billing page rather than assuming a failed attempt has canceled the subscription.
For cancellation, Sprout Social directs users to Account and Settings → Billing → Deactivate. The current Account Owner can cancel eligible in-app monthly or annually paid plans through billing. Annual plans paid monthly and invoiced plans generally require at least 30 days’ notice before the contract term ends; out-of-app cancellations are reviewed by a customer success manager. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current contract term, and prepaid unused time generally does not receive a refund or credit. Check your agreement and Sprout Social’s current terms before taking action.
