Scale AI (at scale.com) provides data-labeling and AI platform services that businesses and individual developers use to build and evaluate models. If you want to pay for it with a Coinepay virtual card, this guide walks through what you need, how the sign-up and billing flow works, and how to troubleshoot a declined card. Scale's own pages change often, so we keep anything that is not documented general enough to stay correct.
What you need before you start
Have these ready so checkout goes smoothly:
- A verified Coinepay account. You must register and complete identity verification (KYC) before you can use card services. Start at the Coinepay registration page, then install the app from the App Store or Google Play.
- A Coinepay virtual card. Once issued, you'll see the card number, expiry date and CVV instantly in your dashboard.
- Enough balance on the card. Scale bills in USD unless an order form or invoice states another currency, so make sure your card can cover the charge plus any currency conversion.
- Your real billing details. Use the name and billing address tied to your Coinepay account. Matching details help the payment pass verification.
Note: Services related to virtual assets are not available to residents of mainland China, and some services are not available in every jurisdiction. Scale also requires customers to comply with export rules and not use the services from a US-embargoed country.
Step 1: Create or sign in to your Scale AI account
Go to scale.com and open the sign-up page. Scale's accessible sign-up flow lets you register with Google, GitHub, or an emailed registration link. During account creation you'll be asked to accept Scale's Main Services Agreement. Read it before you agree — it governs how fees, billing and termination work.
Step 2: Understand which plan you can buy online
Scale's public pricing URL currently redirects to a sales-call form rather than a published price list, so there is no confirmed self-serve checkout price for the US, UK, EU or other markets. Country-specific prices are not published. In practice:
- The public purchase path asks prospective customers to book an introductory call (via scale.com's demo request). A general public self-serve checkout could not be confirmed at the time of writing.
- Scale's product documentation describes an in-product subscription for a Team Tier, while Pro or Enterprise plans require contacting Scale directly.
- An earlier version of the pricing page named Enterprise and a pay-as-you-go Self-Serve Data Engine, but whether those are current is not confirmed.
Because plan names and prices move, always check the current options on Scale's official site and any order form or invoice you receive. Do not assume a price you saw elsewhere still applies.
Step 3: Add your Coinepay virtual card
If your account offers an in-dashboard card form, Scale's documentation describes the billing area under Account and Billing → Billing → Payment Options, where Add Payment Method opens the credit-card form. The exact layout in your live dashboard may differ. To add your card:
- Open your Coinepay app or dashboard and copy the virtual card number, expiry date and CVV.
- In Scale's payment form, enter the card details exactly as shown.
- Enter the billing name and address that match your Coinepay profile.
- Save the payment method, then opt in to the plan you intend to use.
Scale's agreement provides for credit cards, debit cards and — only if Scale agrees — invoiced payment. For non-invoiced payments, saving a card authorizes Scale to charge for the fees you incur.
Step 4: Confirm the charge and keep your records
After the card is accepted and your plan is active, Scale charges according to your plan or order form. Historical invoices are documented under Account and Billing → Payment Options → Monthly Invoice, so you can download them for your own records. Keep these alongside your Coinepay transaction history for reconciliation.
Troubleshooting a declined card
Scale does not publish a company-specific decline-reason list, so treat any error you see as coming from the bank or payment processor rather than a Scale-branded message. Work through these common causes:
Insufficient balance
The most frequent cause is not enough funds to cover the charge plus any currency conversion to USD. Check your Coinepay card balance in the app and top up before retrying. If Scale bills in USD and your card holds another currency, leave headroom for the conversion.
Billing address mismatch
Many processors verify the billing address against card records. Make sure the address you enter on Scale matches the one on your Coinepay account exactly. Use your real details — never a fake or borrowed address, which violates the terms and can get the payment reversed.
3-D Secure / extra authentication
If a transaction needs an extra verification step, approve it through the Coinepay app when prompted. Make sure notifications are enabled so you don't miss the confirmation request, and retry the payment after approving.
Merchant region or card-type checks
Scale does not identify which card networks or types it accepts, and it does not publish a complete country-by-country card-acceptance list. If a payment is refused and balance and address are not the issue, the merchant or processor may be applying a region or card-type check. In that case, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the requirement before you try again. Do not use a VPN or any workaround to disguise your location — that breaks Scale's terms.
Card details entered incorrectly
Re-check the card number, expiry and CVV against your Coinepay dashboard. A single mistyped digit will cause a decline.
Cancellation and refunds
Under Scale's Main Services Agreement, a customer with no active order form and all fees paid may end the relationship by terminating its account; the agreement does not establish a general "cancel anytime" rule for active order forms. Fees paid are generally non-refundable, subject to the agreement's exceptions. One stated exception allows Scale, in a covered intellectual-property claim, to end affected services and provide a prorated refund of prepaid fees for those services. Review your order form and the agreement for the terms that apply to you.
A note on your Coinepay card
Beyond Scale AI, a Coinepay virtual card can be used for advertising, other AI subscriptions, software and online shopping, and businesses can issue a dedicated card per ad account with custom spending limits. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions. If you're unsure whether your card will work for a specific merchant, reach out through the support channel or Telegram before you buy. You can learn more about the service on the Coinepay home page.

FAQ
Can I pay for Scale AI with a Coinepay virtual card?
Scale's agreement provides for credit and debit card payments, and you can enter your Coinepay virtual card's number, expiry and CVV in the payment form. Scale does not publish which card networks or types it accepts, so if a payment is refused, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the requirement before retrying.
Does Scale AI publish its prices so I know what I'll be charged?
At the time of writing, Scale's pricing URL redirects to a sales-call form and shows no public checkout prices, and country-specific prices are unconfirmed. Billing is in USD unless an order form or invoice says otherwise. Always check the current options on scale.com and any order form you receive.
Where do I add or change my card in Scale AI?
Scale's documentation describes billing under Account and Billing → Billing → Payment Options, where Add Payment Method opens the card form. Your live dashboard may differ. You can find past invoices under Account and Billing → Payment Options → Monthly Invoice.
Why was my Coinepay card declined on Scale AI?
Common causes are insufficient balance for the USD charge plus conversion, a billing address that doesn't match your Coinepay profile, an unapproved 3-D Secure prompt, or a merchant region or card-type check. Fix the balance and details, approve any verification in the Coinepay app, and contact Coinepay support if it still fails.
Can I cancel my Scale AI plan and get a refund?
Under Scale's Main Services Agreement, a customer with no active order form and all fees paid can terminate by closing its account; there is no general cancel-anytime rule for active order forms.
