You can send money from the United States to Bangladesh with Coinepay Global Remittance. The recipient can receive it through an available bank deposit, mobile-wallet deposit or cash pickup option. This guide explains what details to collect, how to review the transfer before confirming it and what to do if the payout is delayed.
What you need before you start
Register for a Coinepay account and complete identity verification before sending. You can manage your transfer in the Coinepay dashboard or the Coinepay mobile app, available for iOS and Android. Have the recipient’s full legal name ready, written as it appears on their bank account, registered wallet or identity document, depending on the payout method.
Ask the recipient to confirm their payout details directly rather than copying an old message or guessing a spelling. For a bank deposit, you will commonly need their bank name, branch name, district and ordinary account number. The transfer form may request additional details based on its payout route. For a mobile wallet, you will need the registered wallet number and the account holder’s name. For cash pickup, the recipient will need valid identification and any collection information specified in the transfer instructions.
Bangladesh’s local currency is the Bangladeshi taka (BDT). Check the destination currency and the amount the recipient is shown to receive before you confirm. Coinepay displays the applicable exchange rate and fees in the transfer review; use those figures rather than an estimated rate from elsewhere.
Choose how the recipient will receive the money
Bank account deposit
Choose bank deposit if the recipient wants the payment sent to their Bangladeshi bank account. Collect the account holder’s full legal name, bank name, branch name, district and account number. Bangladesh does not have a national IBAN format listed in the Swift IBAN Registry, so ask for the recipient’s ordinary bank account number, not an IBAN. Enter the number exactly as the bank provides it; do not assume that a length requirement used by another transfer provider applies to this transfer.
Some bank payout routes ask for a bank or branch code. Bangladesh uses a nine-digit branch routing number in its domestic payment systems, but you should provide one only if the Coinepay form requests it and the recipient has confirmed the number with their bank. If a direct international bank-wire route asks for a SWIFT/BIC, obtain the receiving bank’s code from that bank. A SWIFT/BIC is not interchangeable with a branch routing number. Check each field’s label before entering a code.
Mobile-wallet deposit
Mobile-wallet deposit lets an eligible recipient receive a local wallet disbursement of an inward remittance. Bangladesh wallet destinations include bKash, Nagad, TAP and UPAY; check the Coinepay transfer form for the wallet options available for your particular transfer rather than assuming every wallet will appear.
Ask which wallet the recipient uses, whether the account is active and what full name is registered to it. Enter the wallet number exactly as supplied. For a bKash payout in particular, the beneficiary needs a valid, registered bKash account number and the full name recorded when that account was opened. A wallet number that belongs to someone else, or a name that does not match the wallet record, can prevent a payout.
Cash pickup
Choose cash pickup if an available collection location is more suitable than a bank or wallet deposit. Before confirming, check the pickup option shown in Coinepay and make sure the recipient can visit the specified location with acceptable identification. Enter their legal name exactly as it appears on that ID. Once the transfer is ready for collection, share only the pickup information Coinepay instructs you to share, directly with the intended recipient. The recipient should follow the collection instructions shown for the transfer and check any location-specific identification requirements before traveling.
How to send the transfer
- Sign in and start a remittance. Open the Coinepay dashboard or app and choose to send a cross-border transfer. If you are new to Coinepay, register and complete the requested identity verification first.
- Set the destination and amount. Select Bangladesh as the destination, choose the available payout currency and enter the amount you want to send or the amount you want the recipient to receive, as the form allows. Check that the recipient amount is displayed in BDT if that is what you intend.
- Choose a payout method. Select bank deposit, an available mobile wallet or cash pickup. Use the option the recipient can actually access; changing the method may change which recipient details are required.
- Enter and check recipient details. Copy the full legal name and the method-specific bank, wallet or pickup details from information the recipient has verified. Check account digits, wallet digits, bank and branch names, and any code the form requests.
- Review before confirming. Read the exchange rate, fees, amount to be paid and amount to be received as shown by Coinepay. Confirm the destination, payout method and recipient details. If anything is wrong, go back and correct it before authorizing the transfer.
- Confirm and track. Follow the payment instructions shown in Coinepay, confirm the transfer and open its status in the dashboard or app to follow its progress. Keep the transfer details available in case you need to ask Coinepay support for help.
What the recipient may need to do
For a bank deposit, the recipient should watch the account they provided and respond if their bank asks about the payment. Bangladeshi banks assess incoming payments for compliance and risk; a bank may ask for the remittance purpose, sender information or supporting documents before crediting an account. The recipient should use their bank’s official channels to answer such requests.
For a wallet deposit, the recipient should check the registered wallet rather than a different number they also use. For cash pickup, they should take the identification and collection information required by the pickup location. In all cases, tell the recipient the expected payout method and name used on the transfer so they can identify a mismatch promptly.
Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and applicable local regulations. Coinepay may request documents explaining the purpose of a transfer or the source of funds. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of jurisdictions under comprehensive sanctions. Provide accurate information if asked; do not send on behalf of someone else to bypass a check.
Troubleshooting a delayed or returned transfer
- Wrong recipient details: A misspelled legal name, incorrect account number, wrong wallet number or mismatched bank code can lead to a failed or returned payout. Compare the submitted information with the recipient’s bank, wallet or ID record. If you have already confirmed, contact Coinepay support with the transfer details rather than assuming you can edit a payment in progress.
- Compliance review: Check the transfer status and any request for information. Identity, source-of-funds or purpose-of-payment checks may involve Coinepay or the receiving bank. Send requested documents through the channel specified for your case and ask the recipient to respond to any legitimate inquiry from their bank.
- No payout yet: Bank processing hours, weekends, public holidays and the time difference between the United States and Bangladesh can affect processing. A receiving bank may also perform checks before crediting a new or inactive customer’s account. Review the status in Coinepay and contact support if it is unclear what action is needed.
- Returned transfer: Check the status and any explanation provided, then ask support what happened and what steps are available. Confirm the recipient’s details and eligibility before starting another transfer; do not repeatedly resubmit unchanged details that may have caused the return.
If a payout option or requested field is unclear, pause before confirming. Contact Coinepay support and ask which information applies to the Bangladesh payout route shown in your transfer.
