Sending money to a Zantel Ezy Pesa account requires one important check before you pay: Ezy Pesa is a legacy Tanzanian wallet name. Its customers were transferred to Tigo Pesa, which has since been rebranded Mixx by Yas. This guide explains how to confirm the recipient’s active wallet, enter their details in Coinepay Global Remittance, and track a transfer to Tanzania.

Check the wallet name before you start

Zantel Ezy Pesa was used in Tanzania. Mobile-wallet payouts there are received in Tanzanian shillings (TZS). Although some transfer services still display the old Ezy Pesa name, that label does not, by itself, confirm where a particular recipient’s money will be delivered today.

Ask the recipient which wallet is currently active on their number and what name appears on its registration. Their account may now be described as Mixx by Yas rather than Ezy Pesa. Do not rely on a phone-number prefix to decide: Tanzanian customers can retain a number when changing mobile provider. If the recipient is unsure, ask them to check their wallet account or contact their wallet provider before you create the transfer.

In Coinepay, select Tanzania and inspect the mobile-wallet payout options shown for your transfer. Choose Zantel Ezy Pesa only if it appears and you have confirmed that it is the correct route for this recipient. If the app instead lists Mixx by Yas or Tigo Pesa, confirm with the recipient which option matches their active account. If the labels or routing remain unclear, contact Coinepay support before confirming; do not guess based on the legacy name.

Get the recipient’s details

Have the following ready before opening the transfer form:

  • Active wallet identifier: the recipient’s registered Tanzanian phone number, or an account ID if the selected payout form specifically requests one. Copy it from the recipient rather than an old contact record, and follow the number format displayed in the app.
  • Full registered name: the recipient’s full name exactly as recorded with the active wallet provider. Check spelling, name order, and any additional names.
  • Other requested information: provide a city, transfer purpose, or other details if Coinepay asks for them. Give accurate information that reflects the real recipient and payment.

Ask the recipient to confirm that the wallet is active and registered in their own name. A number once associated with Zantel does not prove that its current wallet is Ezy Pesa, Tigo Pesa, or Mixx by Yas. Use the recipient’s real identity and details; changing a name or number to make a form accept the transfer can send money to the wrong place or cause a review.

Send to the Tanzania mobile wallet with Coinepay

  1. Open Coinepay Global Remittance. Sign in through the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app. If you are new, register and complete any identity verification requested for the transfer.
  2. Choose Tanzania as the destination. Select the mobile-wallet payout route and review the wallet names available for this transfer. Confirm the appropriate option with the recipient if the list uses Ezy Pesa, Tigo Pesa, or Mixx by Yas.
  3. Enter the recipient’s details. Supply the registered phone number or requested account ID and the full name exactly as registered. Complete any additional fields displayed for the recipient and transfer purpose.
  4. Enter the amount and review the quote. Check the exchange rate, fees, payout amount, and estimated arrival time shown in the app before you confirm. Make sure the destination, wallet option, number, and recipient name are correct.
  5. Confirm the transfer. Follow the app’s confirmation instructions. Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening, and local regulations; Coinepay may request documents concerning the purpose of the payment or source of funds.
  6. Track its status. Use the transfer’s status tracking in Coinepay. If it remains under review or does not arrive by the estimate shown in the app, contact support with the transfer reference.

Coinepay shows the applicable rate and fees before confirmation. It can send to countries and regions other than those under comprehensive sanctions, but availability of a particular mobile-wallet route must be checked in the app. Do not submit a transfer to a sanctioned person.

How the recipient sees the money arrive

When a mobile-wallet payout completes, the money should be credited to the recipient’s active Tanzanian wallet in TZS. The recipient can check their wallet balance and transaction history using the access method their provider offers, such as its app or mobile-money menu. They may also receive a wallet notification, depending on their provider and account settings. Ask them to compare the credited amount and transaction details with your Coinepay transfer record rather than relying only on a notification.

If Coinepay marks the transfer complete but the recipient cannot find the credit, first confirm that they are checking the wallet registered to the number entered, not another wallet or SIM. Keep the transfer reference and ask Coinepay support to investigate the payout route; the recipient may also need to ask their wallet provider to check their account activity.

Understand wallet verification and limits

Tanzanian mobile-money accounts must be registered, and the recipient’s verification level can affect what their wallet can receive or hold. Mixx by Yas publishes conditions for fully registered accounts, but a published provider limit is not a promise that every wallet or cross-border transfer can accept the same amount. Other restrictions may depend on the recipient’s account status and the payout route.

Before a large payment, ask the recipient to check that their wallet registration is complete and that it has room to receive the intended amount. Check the applicable transfer details in Coinepay or ask support if the payout is rejected. Do not split a payment or use someone else’s wallet to avoid account checks or reporting requirements.

Troubleshoot a failed or delayed payout

Wrong phone number or account ID

Before confirmation, compare every digit with the details supplied by the recipient and correct any mistake. If you have already confirmed, contact Coinepay support immediately with the transfer reference. Do not assume a submitted payment can be stopped or recovered. If the recipient reports a mistaken credit involving their Mixx wallet, they can also seek guidance from their wallet provider; the sender should still report the Coinepay transfer through Coinepay.

Recipient name does not match

Ask the recipient for the full name on their current wallet registration, then compare it with the transfer record. A nickname, omitted name, or name associated with an older account may cause a delay or rejection. If the transfer has already been submitted, ask Coinepay support whether the details can be corrected or whether another resolution is needed.

Wallet limit reached or wallet unverified

The recipient should check their wallet status and any applicable receiving or balance restrictions with their provider. An incompletely verified account or a wallet that cannot accept the payout may block delivery. Wait for guidance from Coinepay on the existing transfer before attempting another payment.

Transfer is under compliance review

Watch the Coinepay status and respond to any request for identity documents or information about the payment’s purpose or source of funds. Provide accurate documents through the channel Coinepay specifies. A review can change the expected arrival time; creating another transfer will not resolve a request for information.

Coinepay transfers can arrive in as little as 10 minutes, but the actual time depends on the payout method and destination country. Use the estimated arrival time displayed before confirmation and the transfer’s status afterward as your guides for this payment.
