To send money from abroad to someone’s G-Money wallet in Ghana, first confirm that the recipient has an active G-Money account—not just a mobile-money account on another network. Then select Ghana and the G-Money payout option in Coinepay Global Remittance, review the details shown in the app, and track the transfer after confirming it.

Where is G-Money used?

G-Money is a mobile-money wallet service in Ghana. For a transfer to a G-Money wallet, choose Ghana as the destination and check the amount the recipient will receive in Ghanaian cedis (GHS). The exchange rate and fees applicable to your Coinepay transfer are shown in the app before you confirm.

The wallet provider matters as much as the phone number. G-Money can also make transfers to participating Ghanaian networks, including MTN MoMo, AT Money and GhanaPay, through a service it calls “Mobile Money Interoperability.” Those are different destination wallets. If your recipient uses one of them rather than G-Money, do not select G-Money merely because they have a Ghanaian phone number. Ask which wallet should receive the money, then choose the matching payout option if it is available in the app.

What details should you get from the recipient?

Before starting, ask the recipient to check their wallet information and send you:

  • The wallet provider: confirm that the account receiving this transfer is registered with G-Money.
  • The registered mobile number: use the number linked to that G-Money wallet. If the Coinepay form requests an account ID instead, ask the recipient for the identifier shown in their wallet details; do not substitute an unrelated number.
  • The recipient’s full name: enter it exactly as registered on the G-Money account, including the order and spelling of names where the form allows.

Ask the recipient to read these details from their wallet information rather than relying on an old contact entry or a previous transfer. A person may use the same mobile number with more than one mobile-money service, so the number alone does not establish which provider you should select. Use the recipient’s real details and your own real identity information throughout the transfer.

G-Money says adults registering a wallet need a registered mobile number and a Ghana Card. If the recipient has not finished opening or verifying their wallet, ask them to resolve that with G-Money before you send. Never ask them to share a wallet PIN with you: a PIN is not a recipient detail needed for this transfer.

How to send to G-Money with Coinepay

  1. Sign in to Coinepay. Open the Coinepay dashboard or mobile app and go to Global Remittance. If you are new, register and complete the identity verification requested for your transfer.
  2. Choose the destination. Select Ghana, enter the amount you want to send, and review the receiving amount displayed in GHS.
  3. Select the payout method. Choose mobile wallet, then select G-Money if it appears among the available providers. Do not choose another network as a workaround. If G-Money is not listed, contact Coinepay support before proceeding.
  4. Enter the recipient’s information. Provide the G-Money-registered phone number or the account ID requested by the form, plus the full name exactly as registered. Check the provider, number or ID, and name with the recipient once more.
  5. Review before confirming. Read the exchange rate, fees, recipient amount, payout method and estimated arrival time shown in the app. Make sure the destination is the intended G-Money wallet and that you are comfortable with the final details.
  6. Confirm and track. Authorise the transfer only after checking the summary. Coinepay provides status tracking for each transfer; keep the transfer reference so you can identify it if you need help.

Transfers are subject to identity verification, sanctions screening and local regulations. Coinepay may ask for documents about the purpose of a payment or the source of funds. Provide accurate information and respond through the requested channel; do not ask another person to send on your behalf to avoid a review. Coinepay does not serve sanctioned persons or destinations under comprehensive sanctions.

How does the recipient see the money arrive?

Ask the recipient to check their G-Money balance and recent transactions in the G-Money consumer app. G-Money also provides access through *488#, which works on feature phones and smartphones; its USSD mini-statement can help the recipient check what the wallet recorded. They should follow the prompts shown by G-Money rather than assume that a notification alone proves the funds are available.

If your Coinepay transfer status changes but the recipient cannot find the credit, compare the provider and recipient details on your transfer record with the recipient’s G-Money account. Keep any transfer reference and relevant transaction records. The sender can ask Coinepay to check the remittance status, while the recipient can ask G-Money to investigate what appears in their wallet records.

Check the recipient’s wallet verification and limits

G-Money publishes different wallet tiers with different transaction and balance limits. A recipient’s current tier, verification status, recent activity and existing balance can therefore affect whether their wallet can receive a payment. These wallet-tier rules should not be treated as a confirmed maximum for an individual Coinepay transfer. Ask the recipient to check their own G-Money account if they are unsure what applies to them.

If G-Money tells the recipient that they need a higher tier, G-Money says users can request an upgrade by providing a utility bill and a copy of their Ghana Card to [email protected], or by calling 0800 422 422. Its highest tier requires full identity verification. The recipient should confirm the current requirements directly with G-Money and wait for the account issue to be resolved before you retry a blocked payment.

Troubleshooting a G-Money payout

Wrong phone number or account ID

If you notice an error before confirming, correct it in the transfer form. If you have already confirmed, check the transfer status and contact Coinepay support promptly with the reference and the details you entered. Do not assume that a confirmed payment to the wrong number can be reversed. The recipient details should always be verified before authorisation.

Name mismatch

Ask the recipient to confirm the name registered on their G-Money wallet. Check spelling and name order against what you submitted. If a transfer is under review or has not gone through, follow the instructions shown in Coinepay or contact support before attempting a new payment. Do not change the name to someone else’s to get past a check.

Wallet limit reached or wallet not fully verified

Have the recipient review their wallet tier, balance and verification status with G-Money. A tier upgrade or further verification may be needed. Avoid repeatedly resending the payment while the underlying wallet issue remains unresolved; use the status of the existing transfer to decide what to do next.

Compliance review or no visible wallet credit

If Coinepay requests information, supply truthful documents through its stated process and keep checking the transfer status. If the recipient reports no credit, ask them to check their G-Money app’s recent transactions or USSD mini-statement. For a wallet dispute, G-Money lists 0800 422 422 and [email protected] as contact options. Give each provider the relevant transfer reference and describe what you see on your side; neither a pending status nor an apparent failure should be treated as permission to send a duplicate payment without checking first.

FAQ

What country and currency should I select for G-Money?

Select Ghana and check the recipient amount shown in Ghanaian cedis (GHS). Choose G-Money as the mobile-wallet provider if it is available.

Can I send to any Ghanaian mobile-money number by selecting G-Money?

No. Confirm the recipient’s actual wallet provider. G-Money, MTN MoMo, AT Money and GhanaPay are distinct wallet destinations.

What recipient details do I need?

Get the phone number registered to the G-Money wallet, or the account ID if the form requests one, and the recipient’s full name exactly as registered.

What if the recipient’s G-Money wallet cannot accept the transfer?

Ask the recipient to check their wallet tier and verification status with G-Money. Check the existing transfer’s status in Coinepay before trying again.
