Planning to use a Coinepay virtual card for Enterprise Rent-A-Car? Check the payment rules for your specific booking before entering card details. An ordinary US rental, a prepaid reservation, and Subscribe with Enterprise have different checkout and pickup requirements. In particular, Enterprise says virtual and single-use cards are not accepted for ordinary US rental pickup.

First, identify what you are paying for

Ordinary rental: You choose a vehicle, dates, and pickup location on Enterprise’s website or app. For an ordinary US reservation, Enterprise says payment is not required when you book. The rental payment and a security deposit, which depends on the location and vehicle, are collected at pickup. Some reservations offer a prepaid option with different cancellation terms.

Subscribe with Enterprise: This is a separate monthly car-subscription service. Applicants apply online, and Enterprise charges the enrollment fee, first full month, and estimated taxes upon acceptance. Later subscription payments are charged on the 20th of each month; Enterprise says it emails a billing statement on the 10th.

Enterprise Plus: This is a free rental-loyalty program, not the car subscription. You can join through “Join Now” on the website or “Join” in the Enterprise app without adding a payment card. Its tiers are Plus, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Subscription rentals do not earn Enterprise Plus points.

Check card eligibility before you book or apply

Coinepay provides a virtual card number, expiry date, and CVV after you register and complete identity verification. Those details alone do not establish that Enterprise will accept the card for your transaction. Do not rely on a Coinepay virtual card as the card you will present for an ordinary US rental pickup: Enterprise says virtual and single-use cards are not accepted there. Contact the pickup branch about its payment and deposit requirements, and arrange an eligible card in the renter’s name before booking.

For Subscribe with Enterprise, Enterprise’s FAQ specifies a bank-issued credit card in the subscriber’s name and excludes debit and prepaid debit cards. Its subscription agreement describes eligible bank-issued credit or debit cards but also excludes prepaid debit cards. Because those descriptions differ, do not assume a virtual card qualifies. Ask Enterprise’s subscription team which rule applies to your application, and contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets Enterprise’s stated requirements before you apply. Neither party’s answer should be inferred from the appearance of a card number alone.

Rules also vary by location and vehicle. For example, Enterprise’s US airport debit-card pickup rules require a ticketed return itinerary, while certain vehicle classes in the UK and Germany require a credit card. Confirm the rules for the actual pickup branch rather than relying on a policy from another country. Use your real name and accurate billing details throughout.

What you need before starting

  • For a rental: Your travel dates, pickup and return locations, driver details, and an eligible payment card for the rental and any deposit at pickup. Ask the branch what it requires for your vehicle and location, particularly if you are considering a prepaid reservation.
  • For a subscription: Eligibility for a participating home state, a valid US driver’s license, a payment card in your name that Enterprise accepts, and documents or information requested in the application. Applicants must be at least 25.
  • For Coinepay: A registered, identity-verified account if you intend to use its card services. Check the Coinepay app or dashboard for your card details and available funds. Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions; availability can vary by jurisdiction.

Subscribe with Enterprise currently lists Minnesota, Missouri, and Nevada. At the time of writing (October 2026), each state page listed a $250 enrollment fee and $1,499 per month before applicable taxes and fees. Check Enterprise’s official subscription page for the current offer. Enrollment and vehicle swaps take place at participating non-airport locations in the subscriber’s home state. Enterprise says a subscription vehicle may be driven in the US and Canada but must be returned or swapped in that home state.

How to make an ordinary Enterprise reservation

  1. Search on Enterprise’s website or app. Enter your pickup and return details, select a vehicle, and review the displayed rate and rental terms. Rates can change, and changing a reservation may change its quoted rate.
  2. Check how and when payment is due. An ordinary US reservation generally does not require payment when you make it. If you select a prepaid offer, read its payment and cancellation terms before confirming.
  3. Confirm the pickup card requirements. Contact the branch about the card you must present and the security deposit. Enterprise does not accept virtual or single-use cards at ordinary US rental pickup, so do not treat online reservation confirmation as approval of a virtual card for pickup.
  4. Review and confirm the booking. Use your real driver and contact details. Keep your confirmation and bring the documents and eligible payment card required by the branch.

If your goal is specifically to pay with a Coinepay virtual card, ask Enterprise whether it can be used for the particular online transaction you are considering. Do not assume that an online payment, even if accepted, replaces pickup card and deposit checks.

How to apply for Subscribe with Enterprise

  1. Select an available state. On Enterprise’s Subscribe with Enterprise pages, check Minnesota, Missouri, or Nevada and review the current price, terms, and participating locations in your home state.
  2. Apply online. Enter your genuine personal, license, and payment information as requested. Enterprise says to allow three business days for an application decision; approval is not automatic.
  3. Resolve card eligibility before submission. The subscription FAQ’s bank-issued credit-card rule and prepaid debit exclusion matter even though the agreement describes debit eligibility differently. Confirm the accepted card requirements with Enterprise and your card’s eligibility with Coinepay support rather than assuming a virtual card will work.
  4. Review acceptance and charges. If accepted, Enterprise charges the enrollment fee, first full month, and estimated taxes immediately. Its confirmation provides a Subscriber ID and a number to call to arrange your first vehicle reservation.
  5. Plan for recurring payments. Watch for the statement Enterprise says it emails on the 10th and the charge scheduled for the 20th. If you need to change a subscription payment method, the subscription agreement directs you to call the Dedicated Subscription Line and select “billing,” Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central time.

Troubleshooting a declined card or failed payment

  • Insufficient available funds: Check the available amount in the Coinepay app. For a subscription, account for the enrollment fee, first full month, and estimated taxes at acceptance, not just the advertised monthly amount. For a rental, Enterprise may require an eligible card with enough available credit for both the rental and deposit. Ask Enterprise for the amount applicable to your booking.
  • Billing details or name mismatch: Recheck the name, address, expiry date, and CVV you entered against your genuine card and billing information. Enterprise requires the subscription payment card to be in the subscriber’s name; a card not in the renter’s name can also fail rental requirements.
  • 3-D Secure or another verification prompt: If a checkout displays an authentication step, complete it through the legitimate card flow without leaving the payment unfinished. If no prompt arrives or authentication fails, check the Coinepay app and contact Coinepay support. Do not assume authentication is the cause of every decline.
  • Merchant or region checks: Confirm that the subscription is offered in your home state, or ask the rental branch about its local card, vehicle-class, and pickup rules. A US airport’s debit-card itinerary requirement and the US virtual-card pickup restriction cannot be fixed by changing billing details. Do not use another person’s identity or an inaccurate address to try to pass a check.
  • An unclear card-entry error: Stop repeated attempts, save the exact message, and ask Enterprise which requirement failed. Share the transaction details with Coinepay support if a Coinepay card was attempted. An error by itself does not prove insufficient funds, a 3-D Secure problem, or card eligibility.

Before you cancel or change plans

An ordinary US or Canadian non-prepaid reservation has no cancellation fee under Enterprise’s stated policy; prepaid bookings have different cancellation and no-show charges. Check the terms attached to your reservation before paying. For a subscription, the initial commitment is two full calendar months plus any initial partial month. Afterward, Enterprise instructs subscribers to email [email protected] with their Subscriber ID and return the vehicle to cancel. The final month is prorated to the return date, but outstanding charges remain payable. Enterprise describes the enrollment fee as nonrefundable except for a limited first-rental-agreement rejection exception in its subscription terms.

For Coinepay account or card questions, use the support page. For an Enterprise payment or pickup requirement, obtain confirmation directly from Enterprise or the relevant branch before committing to a booking.

Do not rely on it. Enterprise says virtual and single-use cards are not accepted for ordinary US rental pickup. Ask your pickup branch what eligible card and deposit it requires.

Do I pay when I reserve an ordinary US Enterprise rental?

Enterprise says payment is not required when making an ordinary US reservation; payment and a location- and vehicle-dependent deposit are collected at pickup. Check any prepaid offer separately.

Is Enterprise Plus the monthly car subscription?

No. Enterprise Plus is a free loyalty program. Subscribe with Enterprise is a separate monthly car-subscription service, and subscriptions do not earn Enterprise Plus points.
