Paying for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is not always a direct online checkout: Microsoft directs buyers to a partner or Microsoft sales for a paid subscription. If your seller offers card payment, a Coinepay virtual card may be an option, but check Microsoft’s card rules and your seller’s payment requirements before you commit. This guide walks through preparation, subscription setup, payment, and common card problems.
Before you start: plans and payment eligibility
Microsoft lists three main Business Central user plans. Dynamics 365 Business Central Essentials covers core business processes; Dynamics 365 Business Central Premium adds manufacturing and service management; and Dynamics 365 Business Central Team Members provides limited access. Microsoft also offers a 30-day Business Central free trial, which is not a paid plan. An administrator buys the appropriate licenses and assigns them to users.
At the time of writing (October 2026), Microsoft’s US reference prices are US$80 for Essentials, US$110 for Premium, and US$8 for Team Members, each per user per month, paid yearly, with tax additional. These are published reference prices, not a partner quote or a completed checkout total. Prices differ by country and can differ at checkout; check Microsoft’s official Business Central pricing page and your seller’s quote before ordering.
Check card eligibility before buying. Microsoft’s business-billing guidance says it does not accept prepaid cards or gift cards and requires a payment method issued in the tenant’s country or region. Do not assume a virtual card satisfies those rules. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the applicable card-type and issuing-region requirements before you buy, and ask Microsoft or your seller which payment methods they accept for your order. If they cannot confirm eligibility, use a payment method they approve rather than repeatedly submitting the card.
You will also need a work or school email address: Business Central online sign-up does not accept a consumer Gmail, Hotmail, or Outlook.com address. Use your real identity and accurate company and billing details. Check that Business Central and the required localization are available in your country or region; inclusion on a country list does not necessarily mean a partner localization or deployment is ready.
Step 1: Set up your Coinepay virtual card
- Register with Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC), which is required before using card services.
- In the Coinepay app or 24/7 self-service dashboard, obtain your virtual card’s number, expiry date, and CVV. Check the app for the card details and any applicable funding or usage conditions.
- Make sure you have sufficient available funds for the amount your seller will charge, including applicable taxes. A published per-user, per-month reference price should not be treated as the amount of a particular invoice or card charge.
- Confirm the billing details you intend to use are your genuine details and match the records associated with your payment method. Do not change your tenant region or supply an unrelated address to get around a payment restriction.
Card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions. Some Coinepay services are not available in every jurisdiction.
Step 2: Arrange a Business Central subscription
- Start at Microsoft’s official Dynamics 365 Business Central product or pricing page. If you want to evaluate the software first, select the free-trial route and sign up with your work or school email. In partner-localized markets, a partner may arrange the localized trial through Microsoft’s Cloud Solution Provider program instead.
- For a paid subscription, contact a Microsoft partner or Microsoft sales as directed by Microsoft. Explain your organization’s country or region, the localization you need, the number of users, and whether they need Essentials, Premium, or limited Team Members access. Ask which paid route and payment methods are available for your account.
- Get the seller’s quote or order summary. Check the license quantities, term, billing arrangement, tax, renewal terms, and who will invoice you. A partner may bill you directly, in which case its payment instructions and policies may differ from Microsoft’s direct-billing workflow.
- Before agreeing to the order, ask the seller whether its checkout accepts your proposed card under its card-type and issuing-country requirements. Contact Coinepay support to confirm the card’s eligibility for those requirements; acceptance of a particular card cannot be assumed.
There is no single confirmed Business Central-specific self-service checkout sequence for every sales channel. Follow the steps shown by your partner or Microsoft sales contact rather than expecting every account to display the same purchase button or billing schedule.
Step 3: Enter the card and verify the order
If your purchase is billed directly by Microsoft and your account offers card payment, an authorized administrator can follow the payment prompts presented for that order. Review the licenses and billing terms, enter the Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date, CVV, and your real billing details where requested, then review the total before placing the order. Complete any payment verification requested during checkout. If a partner is the seller, enter card details only through the partner’s approved payment process if it accepts the card.
After purchase, the administrator should confirm the subscription and assign licenses to the intended users. In the Microsoft 365 admin center’s dashboard view, subscription billing settings appear under Billing > Your products. Payment methods are under Billing > Bills & payments > Payment methods. For an account using a Microsoft Customer Agreement billing profile, edit or replace the profile’s card under Billing > Billing accounts > Billing profiles. Simply adding a card to the payment-method list does not attach it to an existing subscription. If a partner invoices you, ask that partner where to update the payment method.
If the card is declined or cannot be added
Microsoft documents a “declined” card notification or email and a “can’t add” card problem. These messages do not identify a single cause. Check the stage at which payment failed, then work through the relevant possibilities:
- Insufficient balance: Compare the available funds shown in Coinepay with the actual order or invoice total, including tax. If the available amount is too low, address that in the Coinepay app before trying again. Do not rely on the advertised monthly reference price as the amount due.
- Billing-address mismatch: Recheck the card number, expiry date, CVV, and billing information for typing errors. Make sure the address submitted to the seller is your real, applicable billing address and matches the payment records where required. Correct genuine errors; do not invent an address.
- 3-D Secure or other security verification: If checkout presents an authentication challenge, complete it using the legitimate instructions shown. If it times out or fails, start a fresh attempt and check for any prompt in your card or payment flow. Ask Coinepay support to investigate an unresolved authentication or security block; ask the seller what verification its checkout requires.
- Merchant region or card-type checks: Microsoft business billing requires a payment method issued in the tenant’s country or region and rejects prepaid cards and gift cards. A partner may have different acceptance rules. Ask the seller which rule caused the rejection and contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets that requirement. Do not change account details to bypass the check.
- Wrong billing location for an existing subscription: If a new card was added but the next charge still uses the old one, inspect the subscription’s billing setup or its Microsoft Customer Agreement billing profile. Ask your Microsoft billing administrator or partner to confirm which payment method is attached.
If the problem persists, give the relevant support team the order or invoice reference, the time of the attempt, and the exact error text. Do not send your full card number or CVV in an ordinary support message. You can contact Coinepay support about card-side questions; contact Microsoft or your selling partner about checkout and billing-account rules.
Manage renewal and cancellation carefully
Keep track of the subscription term, renewal date, and the payment method attached to the correct billing profile or partner account. If you want to stop paying, check the applicable policy before removing the subscription: Microsoft warns that ending a Business Central subscription can block access and delete Business Central data. Plan for any needed data retention before an administrator makes a change in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
Refund and cancellation rules depend on the billing account and sales channel. Under Microsoft’s Microsoft Customer Agreement policy, cancellation within seven days of a subscription’s start or renewal can qualify for a prorated credit or refund; afterward, turning off recurring billing prevents renewal but does not end the remaining term or annual-commitment payments. Other agreements have different rules, and customers who bought through a partner should contact that seller. Review the terms shown for your actual order rather than assuming a trial, a direct Microsoft subscription, and a partner purchase follow the same process.

FAQ
Can I pay for Business Central with a Coinepay virtual card?
Only if the seller accepts it and the card meets its rules. Microsoft business billing rejects prepaid and gift cards and requires a payment method issued in the tenant’s country or region. Confirm eligibility with Coinepay support and your seller before buying.
Can I sign up for the Business Central trial with a personal email?
No. Business Central online sign-up requires a work or school email, not a consumer Gmail, Hotmail, or Outlook.com address.
Where do I change the card for an existing Microsoft-billed subscription?
In the Microsoft 365 admin center, check Billing > Your products. Payment methods are under Billing > Bills & payments > Payment methods; for a Microsoft Customer Agreement billing profile, use Billing > Billing accounts > Billing profiles. Adding a card alone does not attach it to a subscription.
What should I do if my Business Central card payment is declined?
Check available funds, card and real billing details, any authentication prompt, and the seller’s card-type and issuing-region rules. Contact the seller about checkout requirements and Coinepay support about card-side issues.
