HeyGen is an AI video platform where credits power avatar and video generation. If you want to move from the Free plan to a paid plan, you need a working payment method on file. This guide shows how to set up a Coinepay virtual card, walks through HeyGen's sign-up and checkout flow, and explains what to check if a payment is declined.
What you need before you start
HeyGen bills paid plans automatically and renews them until you cancel, so have everything ready before you upgrade:
- A verified Coinepay account. You must register and complete identity verification (KYC) before you can use card services. Create your account if you have not already, then open the Coinepay app on iOS or Android, or the web dashboard.
- A Coinepay virtual card. Issuance gives you an instant card number, expiry date and CVV, which you will enter at HeyGen's checkout.
- Enough balance on the card to cover the first charge plus any applicable taxes. HeyGen's terms note that applicable taxes may be added, so the final total can be higher than the posted plan price.
- Your real billing details. Use the name and billing address tied to your Coinepay card. Mismatched details are a common cause of declines.
HeyGen plans at a glance
HeyGen's self-service plans are Free, Creator, Pro and Business, with Enterprise sold through its sales team. The plans run on monthly creation credits. At the time of writing (October 2026), the US/USD monthly pricing page showed Creator at $29 for 600 credits, Pro starting at $49 for 1,000 credits, and Business at $149 for 1,500 shared credits plus $20 per additional seat; Creator's annual option was shown as an effective $24/month billed annually. Pro offers higher-credit tiers selectable at checkout.
Prices and currency vary by region and by whether you choose monthly or annual billing, and taxes and the final billing currency are not something this guide can confirm for your account. Always confirm the current figure on HeyGen's official pricing page before you buy. Monthly subscriptions bill monthly; annual subscriptions bill once a year.
Step 1: Issue and fund your Coinepay virtual card
- Sign in to the Coinepay app or dashboard and open the virtual cards section.
- Create a new virtual card. Your card number, expiry date and CVV appear instantly.
- Load enough balance to cover the plan you intend to buy, plus a little extra for taxes.
- Note the billing address associated with the card so you can enter it exactly at HeyGen.
If you run ad accounts or other subscriptions, you can issue a dedicated card per service and set a custom spending limit, which makes it easy to keep your HeyGen subscription separate from other spending.
Step 2: Create or sign in to your HeyGen account
Go to HeyGen's website and start with the Free plan, which requires no credit card. The Get started buttons on the pricing page lead to HeyGen's sign-in service, and new app sign-ups begin on Free. Create your account, then come back to upgrade when you are ready to pay.
Step 3: Upgrade and check out on desktop
The documented desktop flow for choosing a paid plan is:
- Open Settings → Plan & Billing.
- Click Upgrade.
- Choose your plan (Creator, Pro or Business). For Pro, select the credit tier you want at checkout.
- Choose Monthly or Annual billing.
- If you have one, enter a code in the promotion-code field that may appear at checkout.
- Enter your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV, along with the billing name and address tied to the card.
- Complete any 3-D Secure (3DS) verification step your card prompts, then Confirm.
Upgrades take effect immediately with a charge for the difference. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing cycle.
Managing your payment method later
For an active web subscription, go to account icon → Settings → Plan & Billing → Manage Billing. This opens a Stripe or Chargebee billing page where you can update payment methods, billing details and VAT information, and download invoices. If you ever subscribed through Apple instead, that subscription is managed in your Apple Account settings, not in HeyGen.
A note on payment methods
HeyGen's help center lists credit cards, debit cards, Cash App, bank accounts, preauthorized debit, and PayPal in selected countries, and it also discusses SEPA and bank-transfer payments. Which methods appear at any particular checkout depends on your region and is not something this guide can confirm in advance. A separate Enterprise help article names card networks including Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, American Express, Cartes Bancaires, Diners Club, Discover, JCB and UnionPay, but acceptance of every network on the self-service checkout is not confirmed.
Because merchant acceptance can depend on the card's network and issuing region, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets HeyGen's requirements before you buy if you are unsure.
Troubleshooting a declined card
If your payment does not go through, work through the most common causes below. Note that payment processors surface these as possibilities, not as confirmed diagnoses of your specific transaction.
Insufficient balance
HeyGen explicitly names insufficient balance and expired cards as renewal-failure causes. Check your Coinepay card balance and top up so it covers the plan price plus any taxes, then retry. A failed renewal can interrupt your subscription, so keep enough balance available before each billing date.
Billing address mismatch
Enter the exact billing name and address linked to your Coinepay card. If the address you type does not match what the card issuer has on file, the charge can be refused even when funds are available.
3-D Secure authentication
Some charges require a 3DS authentication step. Complete the verification prompt in your Coinepay app or dashboard when it appears. HeyGen notes that SEPA, bank-transfer, or some 3DS debit-card payments can take up to six business days to process; if the payment has completed, more than six business days have passed, and your account still shows Free, contact HeyGen support.
Incorrect card details
Re-check the card number, expiry date and CVV. A single mistyped digit triggers a decline. Copying the values directly from your Coinepay card view reduces errors.
"Card not supported" or region checks
Messages such as "Your card was declined," "Card not supported" and "Payment failed" are reported in third-party guides, though their exact current wording is not confirmed. HeyGen's terms restrict service to parties and countries that are not U.S.-embargoed or otherwise designated. If a card type or your region appears to be the problem, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card is suitable, and verify HeyGen is available where you are. Never use a false address, VPN or someone else's identity to get around a payment or regional check.
Cancellations and refunds
On desktop, cancel through Settings → Plan & Billing → arrow beside Manage Billing → Cancel Plan. Apple and Google Play subscriptions are canceled in their respective store settings, and uninstalling the app does not cancel. Cancellation stops the next renewal but not the current paid period; unused credits expire when the account moves to Free, and remaining annual months are not automatically prorated.
HeyGen's terms say payments are generally non-refundable except where law requires. Its help center states that HeyGen and Google Play purchases may qualify for a refund request within 15 days, and Apple purchases within 14 days, with no guarantee of approval. Request web-purchase refunds through HeyGen support, Apple-purchase refunds from Apple.
