Tencent Cloud (Tencent Cloud International) sells compute, storage and dozens of other services, each billed separately by product, configuration and region. This guide shows how to set up an account, add a Coinepay virtual card as your payment method, and complete a purchase, with a troubleshooting section for the most common reasons a card is declined.

Before you start, create your Coinepay card and finish identity verification (KYC). You can register at the Coinepay sign-up page and manage everything from the dashboard or the mobile app for iOS and Android. Once your card is active you will have an instant card number, expiry date and CVV to enter at checkout.

What you need before you start

  • A verified Coinepay account with an active virtual card (number, expiry and CVV).
  • Enough balance on the card for your order plus a temporary pre-authorization (see below).
  • The real billing details associated with your card — name, address and country. Tencent Cloud requires your genuine identity and billing information.
  • Identity documents from your account's registration jurisdiction. Holders of only a Chinese Resident Identity Card, and mainland-China enterprises using mainland business documents, are directed to Tencent Cloud China instead of the International site.

Important: Tencent Cloud's card rules

Tencent Cloud's saved-payment-method documentation accepts credit and debit cards and lists Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Discover, American Express and UnionPay. It also states that PayPal is no longer supported.

At the same time, Tencent's payment-method troubleshooting page states that prepaid cards are not supported. Its sign-up page separately mentions Diners Club and prepaid cards, so acceptance of those at the current checkout is not consistent across Tencent's own pages. Because of this, confirm your card type before you buy. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets Tencent Cloud's requirement before you attempt a purchase. The card must also be enabled for online, cross-border and USD payments, which Tencent lists as conditions for a successful binding.

Step 1: Create a Tencent Cloud International account

  1. Go to the Tencent Cloud International website and choose to sign up with email, Google or WeChat.
  2. Select your registration country or region. Note that this location cannot be changed later, so choose carefully.
  3. Verify your contact details and complete your account information.
  4. Complete identity verification using documents from your registration jurisdiction.

Step 2: Add your Coinepay card as a payment method

You can save a card in advance so it is ready at checkout:

  1. Sign in to the Console and open Billing Center → Payment Management → Payment Method.
  2. Add a new card and enter your Coinepay card number, expiry date, CVV and the billing address exactly as it appears on your Coinepay account.
  3. You can store up to five cards and set one as the default. The default card cannot be deleted until you select another as default.

When you bind a card, Tencent normally places a $1 pre-authorization to check the card, which is reversed afterward — Tencent says this generally takes 1 to 5 business days. Make sure your Coinepay card has enough balance to cover that $1 hold in addition to your order amount. (Tencent's updated Korean NICEPAY channel is noted as not requiring this pre-authorization when rebinding.)

Step 3: Choose and buy a product

Tencent Cloud has no single account-wide subscription. Instead, each product has its own billing modes. For example, Cloud Virtual Machine (CVM) lists Yearly/Monthly Subscription, Pay-as-You-Go, Spot Instance, Reserved Instance and Underwriting. (On March 24, 2026 Tencent renamed the English bill label "Monthly subscription" to "Yearly/Monthly Subscription"; it said this did not change services or fees.)

To make a purchase:

  1. Sign in, then select the product and configuration you want.
  2. Tencent's purchase guide recommends setting a default credit card first.
  3. Review the order summary, then select Buy Now.
  4. For a prepaid order, checkout lets you use an existing saved card or add a new card just for that order. Some accounts require 3-D Secure verification — if that verification is incomplete or fails, the payment fails.

If you prefer to fund your account first, top up at Billing Center → Payment Management → Payment using an eligible online method or bank transfer. Payment records then appear under Transactions.

About prices

Prices depend on the product, configuration and region, so always check the official Tencent Cloud pricing pages at checkout. As an illustration, at the time of writing (October 2026) Tencent Cloud's Lighthouse page displayed server plans such as Razor Speed at $5.00/month, Linux Starter at $4.20/month, Linux General at $8.50/month and Windows Starter at $6.00/month, with Lighthouse regions including Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, Silicon Valley, Toronto, Frankfurt and Mumbai. These displayed figures are not guaranteed for every region or checkout, and availability of a given plan in a given region can vary — confirm the live price before you pay.

Troubleshooting a declined card

Tencent's documentation lists several reasons a card binding or payment can fail. Work through these in order:

SymptomLikely causeWhat to do
Payment or binding fails immediatelyIncorrect or expired card detailsRe-check the number, expiry, CVV and billing address against your Coinepay app; retype them carefully.
Card rejected before 3-D stepUnsupported card type (e.g. prepaid cards are listed as not supported)Confirm your card type with Coinepay support before retrying.
"Payment unavailable" type errorOnline, authorized, cross-border or USD payments not enabledMake sure your card can be used for online and cross-border USD transactions; ask Coinepay support if unsure.
Fails at or after the $1 checkInsufficient funds for the pre-authorization, or card/binding limits reachedTop up your Coinepay card and ensure you have room above the order amount; remove the limit cause if it is a per-card limit in the app.
3-D Secure screen does not completeIncomplete or failed verificationFinish the verification prompt; Coinepay-related confirmations appear in the Coinepay app or via your registered contact method.

Billing address mismatch

Enter the billing address exactly as registered with Coinepay. A mismatch between the address on file and the one you type is a frequent cause of declines. Do not use a fabricated or borrowed address — Tencent Cloud requires your genuine billing information.

Merchant region checks

Your Tencent Cloud registration region and the product's deployment region both affect what you can buy and how you are billed. The registration location cannot be changed after sign-up, so if a product or price is not offered in your region, choose a different product or configuration rather than trying to work around the restriction.

Managing renewals, cancellations and refunds

To stop a plan from renewing, go to Billing Center → Order Management → Renewal Management and cancel auto-renewal. This leaves your current term in place. Tencent warns that if you cancel within 24 hours of expiry, a renewal may already be in progress, and charges that have been processed are generally non-refundable unless the law requires otherwise.

Refund rules vary by product. Tencent's billing guide states that monthly prepaid subscriptions do not get an unconditional five-day refund; eligible refunds are calculated as the paid amount less consumed value, follow product- and promotion-specific rules, and are generally credited to your Tencent Cloud account rather than necessarily returned to your card. Pay-as-you-go usage is not refundable — releasing a resource stops further billing and unfreezes applicable frozen funds, and some products require a support ticket to terminate rather than self-service.

Get help

For anything specific to your Coinepay card — balance, limits, whether it supports online cross-border USD payments, or a confirmation code — use the Coinepay dashboard, the mobile app, or reach the team through Coinepay support or Telegram. For account, product or refund questions, use Tencent Cloud's own console and support channels.

FAQ

Does Tencent Cloud accept the Coinepay virtual card?

Tencent Cloud's documentation accepts credit and debit cards and lists Visa, Mastercard, JCB, Discover, American Express and UnionPay, but its troubleshooting page states that prepaid cards are not supported. Before you buy, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets this requirement, and make sure it is enabled for online, cross-border and USD payments.

Why was my card declined when adding it to Tencent Cloud?

Common causes Tencent lists are incorrect or expired details, an unsupported card type, online/cross-border/USD payments not being enabled, card or binding limits, and insufficient funds for the $1 pre-authorization. Re-check your details, ensure enough balance, and confirm your card settings in the Coinepay app.

What is the $1 charge when I add my card?

Tencent normally places a $1 pre-authorization to verify a newly bound card. It is reversed afterward, which Tencent says generally takes 1 to 5 business days. Keep enough balance on your Coinepay card to cover this hold in addition to your order.

Where do I manage my saved cards and cancel auto-renewal?

Manage cards at Console → Billing Center → Payment Management → Payment Method, where you can save up to five cards and set one default. Cancel auto-renewal at Billing Center → Order Management → Renewal Management; cancelling leaves the current term in place.

How much does Tencent Cloud cost?

There is no single account-wide price; billing depends on the product, configuration, region and billing mode such as Yearly/Monthly Subscription or Pay-as-You-Go. Prices vary by region, so check the official Tencent Cloud pricing pages at checkout before you confirm payment.
