Photoroom is an AI photo editor used for product photos, background removal and batch exports. If you want to upgrade from the Free plan to a paid tier, you pay through the app's checkout with a card. This guide shows you how to set up a Coinepay virtual card, where Photoroom's billing settings live, and what to do if a payment is declined.
Coinepay issues virtual cards with an instant card number, expiry date and CVV, all managed from the Coinepay app and the 24/7 self-service dashboard. These cards are commonly used for AI subscriptions, software and online shopping like Photoroom.
Before you start: what you need
- A verified Coinepay account. You must register and complete identity verification (KYC) before using card services. Create your Coinepay account, then get the app on iOS or Google Play.
- An active Coinepay virtual card with enough balance to cover the plan you want, plus any applicable tax shown at checkout.
- Your real billing details — the name, address and country on your Coinepay profile. Photoroom's web checkout runs on Stripe, which verifies billing information.
- A Photoroom account. You can sign up at app.photoroom.com with Google, Facebook, Apple or an email verification code, and keep a Free Space without buying a plan.
Services related to virtual assets are not available to residents of mainland China, and some services are not available in every jurisdiction. Check the Coinepay app for what applies to you.
Photoroom plans and prices
Photoroom's plans are Free, Pro, Max, Ultra and Enterprise. Enterprise uses custom pricing rather than a posted subscription price. Ultra has capacity tiers documented as Ultra, Ultra ×2, Ultra ×5 and Ultra ×10. Monthly export allowances are listed as Free 100, Pro 1,000, Max 3,000 and Ultra 10,000–100,000 depending on tier.
On the Photoroom website at the time of writing (October 2026), the USD monthly-equivalent prices shown were Pro $7.50, Max $20.99 and Ultra $82.50 per month billed yearly — these are yearly-billed monthly equivalents, not monthly-payment prices. Apple App Store listings show different figures by country, and the exact product and billing period you are offered only becomes clear at checkout. Prices vary by region, so always confirm the final amount on Photoroom's official pricing page and on the payment screen before you confirm.
Photoroom documents a seven-day trial for an eligible first upgrade to yearly Pro or Max, with payment taken after the trial unless you cancel. There is no documented standard Ultra or API trial.
Step 1: Create your Coinepay virtual card
- Open the Coinepay app or dashboard and finish KYC if you have not already.
- Create a virtual card. You will immediately see the card number, expiry date and CVV.
- Add funds so the balance covers the Photoroom plan and any tax. If you plan to keep the subscription, leave enough for the next renewal too.
- Note the billing name, address and country on your Coinepay profile — you will enter these on Stripe.
Step 2: Choose where to subscribe
The checkout you see depends on the platform. Photoroom's own web checkout runs through Stripe. If you subscribe inside the iOS or Android app, billing may go through the Apple App Store or Google Play instead, where accepted payment methods depend on your store account and country. Photoroom's Ultra instructions even distinguish US mobile checkout through Stripe from rest-of-world mobile checkout through Apple or Google where offered.
To pay directly with a card you entered yourself, the web Stripe flow is usually the most predictable. Note that store-billed subscriptions are managed in the store's account settings, not in Photoroom.
Step 3: Upgrade a Space on the web (Stripe checkout)
- Sign in at app.photoroom.com as a Space admin.
- Select the Space you want to upgrade.
- Go to Manage Space → Billing → Upgrade.
- Choose your plan (Pro, Max or an Ultra tier) and billing period.
- Enter your Coinepay card number, expiry and CVV in the Stripe payment form.
- Enter the billing name, address and country exactly as they appear on your Coinepay profile.
- Complete any 3-D Secure confirmation if prompted, then submit. The upgrade applies once the payment clears.
To change your payment card later, open Space menu → Your profile → Your billing → Manage subscription, which opens Stripe.
A note on accepted cards
Photoroom's payment-method help says web Stripe subscriptions take most major credit cards, debit cards and PayPal, while its pricing FAQ says desktop payments use credit cards exclusively — so which methods a given checkout accepts is not guaranteed in advance. Photoroom does not publish a definitive card-brand list for its own Stripe checkout. If you are unsure whether your Coinepay card meets a requirement at checkout, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card details before you buy.
Troubleshooting: card declined or payment stuck
Stripe documents several decline categories — generic decline, insufficient funds, expired card, incorrect CVC, incorrect card number and processing error — though the exact wording Photoroom shows can vary. Work through these common causes:
Insufficient balance
Confirm your Coinepay card holds enough to cover the full charge including any tax shown on the final screen. Photoroom says advertised prices include applicable consumption tax but its terms also describe fees as tax-exclusive, so the final payment screen is the source of truth. Top up in the Coinepay app and try again.
Billing address mismatch
Stripe checks the billing details you enter. Make sure the name, address and country match your Coinepay profile exactly. A mismatch is a frequent cause of a generic decline.
3-D Secure / verification
If a confirmation step appears, complete it using the method set up on your Coinepay account. Check the Coinepay app for any approval prompt and retry the payment.
Card details entered incorrectly
Re-enter the card number, expiry and CVV carefully. An incorrect CVC or card number produces its own decline.
A previous attempt is still processing
A Photoroom user reported the message "A previous payment attempt is still being processed. Open your billing portal to complete it, or try again later." If you see something similar, open your billing portal to finish or clear the earlier attempt before starting a new one, so you are not charged twice.
Region checks
Stripe prohibits dealings involving its listed high-risk jurisdictions, including Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Crimea, Donetsk and Luhansk, and Google Play billing has been paused in Russia since March 2022. A full country-by-country availability list for Photoroom is not published, so the checkout itself is the real test. Use your real identity and billing details — never try to work around regional checks. Coinepay likewise does not serve sanctioned persons or residents of comprehensively sanctioned jurisdictions.
Managing, canceling and refunds
Always cancel on the same platform you used to subscribe. Web subscriptions are canceled through Billing → Manage your subscription → Cancel subscription; Apple, Google and Shopify subscriptions are canceled in those services. Photoroom's terms ask you to cancel at least 24 hours before the next billing date; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period and ordinarily does not produce a prorated refund.
Pro, Max and Ultra purchasers may qualify for a refund if they request it within seven days of their last payment, though approval is not guaranteed. Refund requests go to the purchase platform: Apple or Google for store purchases, and Your billing → Request a Refund for web/Stripe purchases.
Keep your Coinepay card ready for renewals
Subscriptions renew automatically. Keep enough balance on your Coinepay card before each renewal date to avoid a failed payment. You can review your card and top up anytime in the app or dashboard. For card questions, reach out via Coinepay support or Telegram, and learn more at the Coinepay home page.

FAQ
Which Photoroom plan can I pay for with a Coinepay virtual card?
You can attempt to pay for any paid tier — Pro, Max or an Ultra tier — through Photoroom's web Stripe checkout. Enterprise uses custom pricing. Confirm the current price on Photoroom's official pricing page, since prices vary by region and the final amount appears at checkout.
Where do I enter my card details in Photoroom?
On the web, go to Manage Space → Billing → Upgrade, choose your plan and billing period, then enter your card number, expiry and CVV in the Stripe payment form. To change the card later, use Your profile → Your billing → Manage subscription.
Why was my Coinepay card declined at Photoroom checkout?
Common causes are insufficient balance, a billing address that doesn't match your Coinepay profile, an incomplete 3-D Secure step, or mistyped card details. Fix the issue and retry. If a previous attempt is still processing, open your billing portal to clear it first.
Does Photoroom accept my Coinepay card brand?
Photoroom doesn't publish a definitive card-brand list for its own Stripe checkout, and the accepted methods can differ between web and store billing. If you're unsure, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card details before you buy, and check the price and payment options on the checkout screen.
How do I cancel or get a refund for Photoroom?
Cancel on the same platform you subscribed through — for web, use Billing → Manage your subscription → Cancel subscription, at least 24 hours before the next billing. Refund requests for web purchases go to Your billing → Request a Refund, generally within seven days of your last payment, with approval not guaranteed.
