MobiMatter is an eSIM marketplace that sells prepaid data packages from several providers for travel and international use. Instead of buying a physical SIM, you choose a plan, pay at checkout, and receive a QR code to install the eSIM on your phone. This guide explains how to pay for a MobiMatter eSIM using a Coinepay virtual card, and what to check if your card is declined.

What you need before you start

To buy and pay smoothly, have the following ready:

  • A MobiMatter account (you can sign in with Google, Facebook, Apple, or email).
  • A phone that supports eSIM, so the plan you buy can actually be installed.
  • A Coinepay virtual card. If you do not have one yet, register with Coinepay and complete identity verification (KYC) first, then create a card in the iOS or Android app. Your card number, expiry date and CVV appear instantly in the app.
  • The billing details tied to your card, so you can enter them exactly as they appear in the Coinepay app.

MobiMatter's terms list Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards, and its payment help says the card must support 3-D Secure. If you are unsure whether your Coinepay card meets these requirements, contact Coinepay support to confirm before you buy.

Step 1: Choose the right eSIM plan

MobiMatter does not sell a single named subscription. Its catalogue groups packages as All, Regional and Global, and individual offers carry names like "USA 25 GB" or "Half Global 36 GB" from different providers. At the time of writing (October 2026), examples seen on the site included "USA 25 GB" (NextLink, 30 days) at US$19.99, "Europe 30 GB" (eSIMGo, 15 days) at US$19.99, "UK 999 GB" (eSIMGo, 30 days) at US$49.99, "Japan 20 GB" (IIJ, 30 days) at US$13.99, and "India 30 GB" (TSimTech, 30 days) at US$34.99, with many destination pages listing plans starting around US$3.49. Prices change often, so always check the current figure on the MobiMatter offer page.

Important: availability is plan-specific, not implied by a regional name. MobiMatter notes that some Europe plans leave out the UK, Switzerland, Norway, Turkey or Balkan countries. Open the offer and read its country and network coverage lists before you pay.

Step 2: Sign in to your MobiMatter account

You can browse without an account, but sign in before checkout. A signed-in account is required to select the 10% cashback reward at checkout, and it keeps your order in one place. According to MobiMatter's Wallet help page, cashback credits become redeemable at US$16, must cover a whole package, and stay valid as long as the account has a purchase within each 12-month period.

Step 3: Go to checkout and review "Total to pay"

Add your chosen eSIM to the cart and open checkout. Confirm the selected currency, any optional extras, and VAT are reflected in the "Total to pay" figure. This is the amount your Coinepay card will be charged, so make sure your card balance covers it with a little room for currency conversion.

Step 4: Enter your Coinepay card details

Choose to pay by card, then enter the details from your Coinepay app:

  1. Card number.
  2. Expiry date.
  3. CVV.
  4. Billing name and address exactly as they appear in your Coinepay profile.

Use your real identity and real billing details. Do not use generated identities or any method to work around regional or payment checks.

Step 5: Complete 3-D Secure and confirm

Because MobiMatter requires 3-D Secure, you may be prompted to approve the payment. Watch for a confirmation request in your Coinepay app and approve it to finish. Once the payment is accepted, MobiMatter says it sends the eSIM QR code and installation instructions by email and in the app.

Step 6: Confirm the order and install

Check Profile → Order History to confirm the order completed. For an invoice, use the invoice-generation link in the payment-details area of your confirmation email. Install your eSIM following the emailed instructions. MobiMatter advises installing before you travel: some countries restrict eSIM purchasing or activation (it gives the UAE as an example), and it notes that access to MobiMatter and other eSIM sites is blocked within Turkey, so buy and set up before arrival.

Troubleshooting: card declined or payment failed

MobiMatter's payment-failure help notes that a "failed" message can sometimes be a bank's temporary pending reservation rather than a real charge. Before retrying, check Profile → Order History: if an order exists, do not pay again; if no order exists, MobiMatter says it is safe to retry. Work through the causes below.

Insufficient balance

The charge must cover the full "Total to pay" including any VAT and currency conversion. Open your Coinepay app, check the available balance, top up if needed, and retry.

Billing address mismatch

If the billing name or address you typed does not match the details on file for your card, the payment can be refused. Re-enter them exactly as shown in your Coinepay profile.

3-D Secure not completed

If the verification step is missed or times out, the payment fails. Make sure you have your Coinepay app handy to approve the prompt, then start checkout again. MobiMatter explicitly states cards must support 3-D Secure.

Card brand or type not accepted

MobiMatter's terms accept Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards. Its policy says digital wallets and other methods may be offered, but Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, American Express and Discover acceptance are not confirmed for any particular checkout. If your payment is refused for a card-type reason, contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets MobiMatter's requirement before trying again.

Connection or region checks

MobiMatter suggests disabling any VPN and using a stable connection when a payment fails. Do not use a VPN or other tools to get around regional checks or terms of service.

Refunds, if a plan goes wrong

An unused, unactivated eSIM still within its stated activation period may qualify for a refund, with possible processing fees, subject to the operator's policy. Once an eSIM is downloaded or activated, MobiMatter's published policy limits refunds to a genuine technical failure left unresolved for more than 24 hours after you supply the information needed for troubleshooting; a charged-but-undelivered service not rectified within 24 hours qualifies for a full refund. The policy excludes cases such as failure to seek support, deleting the eSIM, activating the wrong product, expiration, partial use, and dissatisfaction with network performance. Refunds go back to the original payment method, and MobiMatter states a processing period of 10–45 days depending on the card issuer. A refund to your Coinepay card will appear in the app once the issuer completes it.

Tip: buy and install your eSIM before you leave home, keep your Order History confirmation, and check the offer's country list so the plan works where you are headed.

FAQ

Which cards does MobiMatter accept?

MobiMatter's terms list Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards, and its payment help says the card must support 3-D Secure. Other digital wallets may appear at checkout, but their availability is not guaranteed. If you are unsure whether your Coinepay card meets these requirements, contact Coinepay support before buying.

Where do I check if my MobiMatter payment went through?

Open Profile → Order History. If an order shows there, your purchase completed and you should not pay again. If no order exists, MobiMatter says it is safe to retry. For an invoice, use the link in the payment-details area of your confirmation email.

Why does checkout say the payment failed even though my card looks fine?

A failed message can be a bank's temporary pending reservation rather than a real charge. Check Order History before retrying, confirm your balance covers the full Total to pay, enter your billing address exactly as in the Coinepay app, complete the 3-D Secure prompt, and disable any VPN on a stable connection.

Can I get a refund to my Coinepay card?

An unused, unactivated eSIM within its activation period may qualify, subject to operator policy and possible fees. After activation, refunds are limited to genuine technical failures unresolved for over 24 hours. Refunds go to the original payment method and take 10–45 days depending on the issuer.

Should I buy my MobiMatter eSIM before or after I arrive?

Buy and install before you travel. MobiMatter notes some countries restrict eSIM purchase or activation, such as the UAE, and that access to MobiMatter is blocked within Turkey. Installing beforehand avoids being unable to set up the eSIM on arrival.
