Buying on Jumia is a marketplace checkout task, not a subscription sign-up. If card payment is offered for your order, you can enter your Coinepay virtual card details at checkout. Whether the payment is accepted depends on the options and checks for that Jumia country site and your particular order.
What you need before you start
- A Jumia account, or the details needed to create one during checkout, using your real identity and contact information.
- A delivery address in the market where you are shopping, if Jumia offers delivery for your order. Use your real delivery and billing details; do not substitute an address to bypass regional checks.
- A Coinepay account with identity verification completed. You must register and complete KYC before using Coinepay card services.
- Your Coinepay virtual card number, expiry date and CVV, available after the card is issued, plus enough available funds for the total shown at checkout. Check card details and available funds in the Coinepay app or dashboard.
- Access to any verification method requested during payment, such as a bank or phone verification step.
Jumia operates country-specific marketplaces, including Nigeria, Egypt, Morocco, Kenya, Ghana, Uganda, Côte d’Ivoire and Senegal. Payment choices differ by market and order. For example, Jumia’s Nigeria payment information lists card and bank-transfer options, while its marketplace also lists cash on delivery. Egypt lists card options alongside Fawry and mobile-wallet methods; Kenya’s JumiaPay integration information lists cards, M-PESA and Airtel Money. These examples do not mean every method will appear for your purchase. Check the actual checkout screen before relying on a particular option.
How to pay for a Jumia order
- Prepare your card. If you are new to Coinepay, register and complete identity verification. Open the Coinepay app or 24/7 dashboard to obtain your virtual card number, expiry date and CVV. Check your available funds against the full Jumia checkout total.
- Shop on the appropriate Jumia country site or app. Sign in or create your Jumia account using your real details. Add the item to your cart and review its price, delivery information, seller details and any order-specific conditions.
- Enter delivery and contact details. Provide an address and phone number you can actually use for the order. Review the delivery area and final amount before continuing.
- Choose the payment option shown for your order. Where Jumia offers card payment directly or through JumiaPay, select the relevant option and enter the Coinepay card number, expiry date and CVV. JumiaPay is a payment flow; it is not the same thing as a Jumia Prime subscription. If the checkout does not offer a suitable card option, do not assume a card can be added through a different payment method.
- Check the details and submit payment. Confirm the amount, billing details and selected method, then use the checkout’s payment button, which may say “Pay Now.” Complete any bank or phone verification that appears. Jumia’s country FAQs describe a first JumiaPay payment as the point when a customer’s payment account is created: the customer enters checkout details, chooses JumiaPay and an available method, then completes the required verification.
- Check the result before trying again. Look for Jumia’s order confirmation and review the order in your Jumia account. If checkout shows an error or no confirmation, check the order status before repeating payment so you do not unintentionally submit the same purchase twice.
Coinepay makes card details available instantly when it issues a virtual card, but that does not guarantee acceptance by Jumia. The merchant, its payment provider and applicable card checks determine whether an individual transaction can proceed. If you need to know whether your card meets a requirement shown at checkout, contact Coinepay support before buying.
JumiaPay, Jumia Prime and repeat payments
You do not need to purchase a Jumia subscription to pay for an ordinary marketplace order. Jumia said it halted Jumia Prime across its markets, so an older Prime page should not be treated as a current sign-up or cancellation guide. JumiaPay’s consumer payment service is described as free in country FAQs for Nigeria, Egypt and Kenya; a payment service is not a paid membership plan. Charges for merchandise and delivery are separate and should be reviewed at checkout.
Do not confuse the JumiaPay checkout option with a requirement to install a standalone JumiaPay app. Jumia discontinued that standalone app in 2025 outside Egypt, where it remained for certain legacy partnerships; this did not end marketplace payment gateways. For future orders, check the payment options presented in the Jumia checkout you are actually using rather than assuming that a previously used method remains available.
What to do if your card is declined
Jumia’s FAQs discuss errors after “Pay Now,” but do not establish one universal decline message. Note the wording you see, the time and the order status, and work through the relevant checks below. Do not share your full card number or CVV in a support message.
Insufficient available funds
Compare your Coinepay available funds with the final Jumia total, including any delivery charges shown before payment. If funds are insufficient, use the funding options available in your Coinepay account and retry only after the balance is adequate. If the available funds appear sufficient, avoid repeated submissions and ask support to review the unsuccessful attempt.
Card or billing details do not match
Recheck the card number, expiry date and CVV against the Coinepay app. Jumia’s Nigeria FAQ identifies incorrect card details, including name or expiry, among possible failure causes. If checkout asks for a billing name or address, enter your genuine details accurately. A mismatch can interrupt payment; do not invent an address to make a card appear local.
3-D Secure or another verification step fails
Follow any verification prompt presented during checkout and make sure you can access the phone or other method required for it. Jumia’s Nigeria FAQ identifies inactive 3-D Secure as a possible card-payment issue. If no prompt arrives, it expires, or verification fails, check the instructions on the screen and contact Coinepay support to ask what applies to your card. Do not assume that submitting the same payment repeatedly will resolve a verification problem.
The payment method is unavailable in your market
A Jumia site may show different methods depending on its country, the order and its payment provider. Card eligibility can also be affected by merchant region checks. If checkout states a card-type or issuing-country restriction, treat it as a requirement rather than trying to work around it. Contact Coinepay support to confirm your card meets the stated requirement before you buy. If card payment is not offered or the card remains ineligible, choose another legitimate method displayed for your order or ask Jumia support about its checkout rules.
The order status is unclear
If payment seems to have gone through but Jumia has not confirmed the order, check your Jumia order history and the transaction activity visible in Coinepay before paying again. Keep the order reference and any on-screen error details for support. For a merchandise return or refund, follow the policy for the relevant Jumia country and item; cancelling an order is different from cancelling a subscription.
Before placing another order
Review the delivery destination, final checkout amount and available payment methods each time. Use your real account and billing information, and follow Jumia’s local terms. Coinepay card services are subject to identity verification and availability by jurisdiction; card issuance and fund services are provided by licensed partner financial institutions. If you cannot find your card details or need help with a failed card transaction, use the Coinepay support page.

FAQ
Do I need a Jumia Prime subscription to pay for an order?
No. Ordinary marketplace orders do not require a Prime subscription, and Jumia said it halted Jumia Prime across its markets.
Can I use my Coinepay card through JumiaPay?
If your Jumia checkout offers a suitable card option through JumiaPay, you can enter your card details and complete any required verification. Acceptance is determined at checkout.
Why was my Jumia card payment declined?
Possible causes include insufficient available funds, incorrect card or billing details, failed 3-D Secure verification, or a payment restriction for that market or order. Check the displayed error and your order status before retrying.
What if Jumia says my card type or issuing country is not accepted?
Follow the restriction shown at checkout. Contact Coinepay support to confirm whether your card meets the requirement before buying, or choose another legitimate payment option offered for the order.
